[MoFA] Reflection of a Month's Labour: A minister prospective

Day 1,291, 13:26 Published in United Kingdom USA by McAfee01

Aloha eUKers

As Minister of Foreign Affairs, it has been my responsibility to oversee our diplomatic relations and to ensure that our nation is in the best possible position in regards to the international diplomacy. Although it has been a month that can be argued of being less exciting in comparison with Artela'a predecessor, our recent military campaigns against those pesky Irish and our former syrup mining compadres, alongside some quite drastic changes in foreign policy, challenges have still remained, and as such, it is my responsibility to address these concerns head on.

Also, I will be addressing questions regarding the eUK's foreign policy over the past month in a follow up article, to coincide with our presidential election day. As such, anyone with any concerns can contact me regarding a variety of ways, and I will do my best to answer them fully (including any questions asked by foreign nationals).

Ministry Administration

A fickle ministry at best, the MoFA however has quite a high drop-out rate in comparison with other ministries (thanks in due part to retaining the largest volunteer base of all other government ministries). It's been quite a struggle to keep all ambassadors motivated, due that problem us erep experts regard to as RL (or more specifically, exams). However, reports have been of a generally good standard, and I am quite proud of the work and commitment provided by all ambassadors during their time in the ministry. All citizens can check examples of reports posted on Artela's presidential addresses on our eUK forums.

Also, I would like to use this opportunity to award the Diplomat Prize to Germanstar258, who is awarded £100 for his ongoing and valuable contribution to eUK foreign affairs. As a clear headed member of our ambassador team, Germanstar has effectively used his own initiative in discussions with foreign citizens, whilst also displaying an exemplary attitude towards the ministry. Thank you!

Foreign relations

As a nation that has recently adopted a stance of neutrality/non affiliation, our approach to foreign relations was simple: open mindedness.

Our administration had an opportunity to finally readdress our entire diplomatic relations with all nations, and the possibility of approaching each nation with an impartial perspective. However, this has not been entirely successfully, with certain nations using the opportunity to misconstrued our intentions to reflect negatively upon the eUnited Kingdom towards her allies.

We can now move onto Poland. The eUK's public address to Poland, although unfortunate in regards to timing and our lack of proper consultation towards our French & German allies, was never intended as an abandonment of our Strasbourg allies. Our commitment to France, Germany & Portugal is clear: the Strasbourg Treaty is built upon the firm foundations of support and understanding between our four nations, and the eUK will always honour this. We do not wish to jeopardise our relations, and nor will we.

However, we do not regret this article. Our intention this month was to reaffirm our relations with our allies, whilst also looking at possible ways of building relations with nations which were usually improbable, thanks in part due to our previous alliance statuses. I would like to point out that the eUK will look at improving relations with any and all nations. Our neutrality has offered us new opportunities and friendships with nations from all alliances: if a nation wishes to seek relations with us, then we will gladly talk. However, assumptions towards our commitment to our allies is laughable to the point of insult.

However, I would like to point out some of the positives resulting from our work this month.

Firstly, our foreign policy discussions have seen us looking at possible ways of becoming closer with our friends from Serbia and Macedonia. Following discussions between key members of government, we have agreed upon a series of areas on where we can further support one another, alongside future consultation regarding supporting each other in similar objectives, whilst agreeing upon a larger military support for each other (this has been greatly reinforced by the amount of Serbian units helping our nation in our military campaigns this past month). Similar discussions have been held with our Macedonian friends, for which both sides have agreed upon further communication between our two states and offering a larger level support to each other.

For now, reaffirmation of our friendship to our Eastern European allies has been hugely successfully, whilst reassurance that each side can rely upon the full support of one another, for which will be a firm foundation for future cooperation + plans we may work upon together in the future.

Secondly, ATO. Although we sadly were unable to prevent the PTOers from being elected into congress, the support we received from France was absolutely amazing, and a true representative of our friendship between our two states. The hard work and communication between our two nations during this difficult time was magnificent, alongside watching ATO helpers mould and enjoy light hearted discussions with our more active citizens (for which I'm sure our French allies enjoyed). For that, I would like to issue a personal appreciation for all the support our French allies have provided to us, and hope that we can further build upon our friendship to ensure its survival for a long time.

Lastly, international perspective. Over the past month, we have seen a numerous number of nations approach the eUK regarding further relations and MPPs. Although we have sadly seen some nations cancellation our alliances with us (including our long time friend, Brazil), we have continued our objective of open mindedness, and I do hope the following Prime Minister and MoFAs can continue this policy (even if I'm not involved in the ministry).

Media Presence & activities

This month has seen the MoFA being quite media active across the international media scene. With a total of 20 articles released so far (with one more to come), I am greatly appreciative of the efforts from Mr Woldy, Keram10 & Betafoxtrot, who have been essential in ensuring our media activity.

Also, I would like to further thank Woldy for hosting the Eurovision channel for our friends across Europe. I am sure all those involved will remember the event fondly, whilst also apologising myself for getting a lil heavy handed with the banning (I'm quite the Blue fan!).

Conclusion

Overall, although less eventful than other months, it has no doubt been quite an active one. Alongside looking at new diplomatic endeavours and our military campaigns against Ireland & Canada, there has been plenty of work that has had to be completed, and it's a miracle that I'm still around (due to my severe medical diagnosis).

However, I hope my inadequacy hasn't hurt this nation too much... If it has, please blame this man.

Yours
