[MoFA] Day 2059 in the world - TWO HQ; Battles

Day 2,058, 19:14 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Thomas765

"I say let the world go to hell, but I should always have my tea.”
- The average Brit.

This is just a general article, summing up recent events. There hasn't been a lot of movement on the international scale lately. In fact, the number of battles lately has dropped once again.

UK Government statement on the TWO HQ election and Slovenian grievances

Three days ago, the elections for TWO HQ took place and some controversy ensued about the selection of one of the candidates, in particular the now-elected SoFA, Martuxx. Slovenia took particular issue to it and went public with their grievances. The United Kingdom will be taking a more neutral stance with regards to the affairs between TWO HQ and individual countries, however, we will be supporting reforms to make the candidate selection fairer and the HQ more accountable to the nations of TWO and ACT in the future.

Likewise, the CP, Bohemond4, has released a statement in his official update:

There has recently been a debacle regarding the recent elections for this month's TWO HQ. It had occurred as a result of candidates being proposed to run against other candidates with no manifesto of any kind being presented to the countries of TWO. The reason for this is unclear, however, it is widely believed to be done for political reasons.

Ideas to reform TWO have so far included a change to the way the elections happen, such as moving monthly elections on the 8th or 9th to allow candidates to fully prepare for the job they are running for and to allow governments to settle in before the elections. In addition, we believe that the addition of an impeachment clause could help solve issues such as that which Slovenia has grievances with. The majority of these are proposals that the eUK government believes are of merit to our alliances future and will be supporting their introduction into TWO.

A meeting with TWO has been scheduled for later on, so we'll give updates as soon as they're ready to go out!

The USA is wiped again

Operation HAM, as they call it, was a plan to liberate Texas and escape through the former Mexican regions. The United States has only ever been wiped on two occasions in the past but this time, the wipe appears to be more prolonged as, well, the damage balance against them and CoT is much more significant than that of ONE vs. Terra+EDEN, the last time they were wiped. A prebattle article by the President of the former United States can be found here.

Battles

Europe
These days, it seems Europe is simply quiet. TWO advances continue on Asgard and the Circle of Trust, with Slovakia joining in on the fight in the north through an airstrike. Both the Ukraine and Belarus are combating Finland at the present time, while Slovakia has occupied the last few remaining Norwegian territories that were free. Ukraine has seen some amazing progress in the war against Russia and that being Russia's total wipe.

We now border our friends, Slovakia.

European countries that are wiped - Republic of Macedonia (FYROM), Bulgaria, Russia, Norway, Sweden and the Netherlands.

North America
Completely occupied by TWO forces. The Republic of China have gladly enacted their revenge upon the USA and have moved on southwards. In the states themselves, in an agreement with the previous TWO HQ: Thailand, Montenegro, the Republic of China and the United Kingdom have all moved out in favour of the USA's occupation by three of TWO's strongest nations.

South America
There are two competing areas of power in the world, one being the Balkans and the other being the continent of South America. Since early 2012, the South American continent has been having baby boom after the baby boom, with countries falling and rising in a continuous cycle. Several weeks ago, we saw Peru and Paraguay, both members of the Circle of Trust, wiped off the map for the congress elections, meaning that they did not have the ability to elect congressmen. Brazil escaped wipe before congress but did not escape soon after. You can immediately tell, however, that the continent is a power house. It is impossible or very difficult in the current circumstances for one country to hold a region of another.

In slightly unrelated news, the United Kingdom are opening up positive diplomatic relations with Bolivia, a nation with whom we haven't had much contact with in the past.

Thank you for reading and may the force be with you,

Hail TWO o7
Hail ACT o7
Hail friends o7

Minister of Foreign Affairs for the United Kingdom.
