[MoFA] Ambassador Duties

Day 2,003, 01:48 Published in United Kingdom North Macedonia by Foreign Office

Hello there,

My name is Kapten Johnson and I’m the current Deputy MoFA and so far this month I’ve mostly been doing some backroom tasks. Last month I was an Ambassador for the UK in Canada, Australia and the United States. During my one and a half month involved with foreign affairs, I’ve noticed that most people are nice and helpful, no matter what country they’re from, and if you’re nice back you can create some very good relations.

We want to invest in our young and aspiring population that wants to get involved in foreign affairs. In exchange, we want in depth and interesting information on foreign countries that can better direct our foreign policy as a whole. Additionally, we hope that the ambassadors can help improve relations with many countries.

There are many of the finer details of a country that ministers just can’t always know. For instance what the political opposition in a country thinks, and what regions they consider valuable culturally, and what their goals are. A good ambassador will know these things when called upon, and can be called upon as an expert witness during planning sessions of the higher government.

Additionally we can never underestimate how valuable having someone to talk to is. Becoming friends with representatives from various other nations around the world and being an active member on their IRC channel and forums could benefit our relations greatly.

If you’re going to conduct interviews you should make sure to not offend the interviewee and be respectful, not only personally but also culturally. Do not try to push anyone to say anything that they do not want to, and keep a casual conversation. I myself try to see everyone I interview as a friend, and start all interviews with trying to get to know the interviewee before actually digging in to the good stuff! If your intended interviewee isn’t answering or is less helpful, maybe that player is busy. If this happens, just look up someone else that’s involved in the country and ask this person instead.

Here’s a couple of questions that you could use in your interviews:
What is the current political situation in your country?
-Are you under a PTO threat?
-Is there a big opposition?
Is your society divided or united?
-What do you think brings your country together or separate you?
Is your community generally old or young?
-Or do you have a good mix?
Do you have an active community?
-What is the main way of communication? (IRC, Forum, In-game)
-Could I have the links?
What is your view on the current eWorld situation? (Bring up current events)
What is your individual thought on the eUK? Why?
What do you think is the general feeling on the eUK in your country? Why?
Do you have any goals set up for your country?
Do you have an official military?
-How is it structured?
-Is it funded by the state?
How does the military command communicate with “the footsoldiers”? (IRC, Forum, In-game)

Following is a couple of links that can be useful for your assignment.
