Dear citizens of the eNetherlands,

Be it due to the sensitivity of the subject, be it due to disinterest or be it due to a general lack of activity: Many people are not aware of our financial matters. Many times questions will arise on how much the Government actually has to spend - especially in a time of discussing and thinking about ways to spend that money. To give information and transparency on this subject I've written this to give you a look 'under the hood' and elaborate on the 'Budget' the Government has (specifically for this month).

For September 2018 the Government MDSanderon has an initial total budget of 176,149 CC. It may look like we're talking about a lot of money, but just remember there are numerous people who make a multiple of that money on a monthly basis and that a 'real' war will blow that money within the hour (hence why we also have a dedicated 'Emergency Fund' should times call for that). The budget consists of the following components:


Tax Income: 69,794
This is the 'ordinary' income that gets directly transferred to our treasury as shown here. It consists of all our taxes: Taxes on working, on the market (VAT & Import Tax) and in some cases earning money by fighting (Combat Order & Medal Taxes). For all matters and purposes this is the only 'real' income that eRepublik recognizes. This number is based on the Tax Income from the last presidential term (August).

Tax Returns: 46,355
You may have noticed we lose out on income due to Estonia occupying several of our regions: but worry not! As this is an agreed upon Training War Estonia pays us back the income they get due to occupying us partly. This number is based on the Tax Income from the last presidential term as well (August).

Concession Fee: 60,000
Recently our monthly budgets have received a major increase due to a Rental Agreement with Iran. By supplying them with two of our resources we get paid 60,000 on a monthly base.


Additional Sources
Many monthly budgets have been more complex than this and many other recurring ways of earning/using money are out there:

- Donations: Back when we had more need to spend money (signing a lot of MPP's) we had several players donating money for the budget on a monthly base. Additionally includes all random donations eNL receives for different reasons.

- 'Rolling Forward': A controversial 'trick' which is adding the remainder of the budget of the previous month to the budget. Depending on the circumstances/plans this is sometimes deemed necessary.

- Emergencies: In case of emergency (or agreed upon usage by Congress) the Government is allowed to use the funds in our Emergency Funds (which gives considerably more financial comfort).

- Congress & CP Tax: By law Congress Members and the Country President is required to pay 2,5 of the 5G he receives for being elected. This is nominally our only income of gold. As gold has few uses for a Government sometimes this gets converted to cc and added up to the budget.

- Monetary Market: In the past we had an elaborate program in which gold was exchanged to cc and vica versa. Depending on activity it made a hefty profit. I've ran it for a while in the begin of 2018, currently Odan is reviewing it and considering restarting.
