[MoD] Declassified Afteraction Report- Chubu/Kanto

Day 2,124, 23:52 Published in Japan Japan by William of Edenbury

This is a report from the Ministry of Defense aimed at keeping the public informed about the battles of Chubu and Kanto. This report contains declassified information only, most of which is can be gathered through public sources. Classified data is ruled as such due to its sensitivity in the ongoing confrontation with the Portuguese occupation forces.

The first two sections of this article contain information on the Battles of Chubu and Kanto respectively. The third section contains personal observations by the current Minister of Defense, William of Edenbury.

The Battle of Chubu

This was the first battle in the chain of back to back Resistance Wars we have fought against Portugal. Originally intended as a Shield Drain under the directives of operation "Shielded Suzumebachi", successes in the initial round presented an opportunity for the region's liberation. The battle's classification was changed and placed under the directives of operation "Homefront Liberation". Under the new directives, the Ministry of defense Supply was opened to all foreign and domestic fighter and our allies were contacted to request assistance. At this point I would like to make a special note of thanks to our allies in South America, Chile in particular. The quickest and one of the most effective deployment of soldiers/Militia were from our allied nations on this continent. The battle itself became incredibly, and quite unexpectedly, fierce. While both Portugal and Japan are considered middle powers in terms of damage output, the Resistance War reached Epic Battle status on multiple occasions. In the end though, our resistance forces came out victorious and part of our homeland was returned

Fallout from the Battle of Chubu:
While the obvious consequence of the Resistance War was the liberation of Chubu, several other situations arose due to our success in the battle.

- Portuguese Bankruptcy: Due to the massive and ultimately unsuccessful expenditures on mercenaries and supplies by Portuguese Government, their National reserves became dangerously depleted. Rumors of Portuguese requests for economic assistance from its allies were heard, and instances of ePortugese National Military Soldiers requesting supply donations on the feeds were confirmed.

- Capital Isolation: The loss of Chubu, which linked the the ePortugese occupation capital at Kinki and the region of Kanto effectively cut off the only supply route that the ePortuguese had. This added to the woes their already troubled economy.

- Government turmoil: The politically embarrassing loss in the Battle of Chubu and the economic aftermath exacerbated already existing tensions among the leadership of the Portuguese government

The Battle of Kanto
While the Battle of Chubu had been a mild surprise due to the belief that we were still days away from attempting a serious reclamation effort, the Battle of Kanto caught everyone well and truly offguard. Following within moments of the end of the Chubu victory, the Kanto Resistance War was a daring initiative ordered to press the advantage against Portugal. The occupations forces were still reeling from the blows to their national reserves and population morale, so they were unable to put up as fierce a fight during this battle. Rumors of the ePortugese government being unable to supply its own troops with weapons came flooding in at this time. While less ferociously fought than Chubu, Kanto was still hotly contested and the victory obtained by our liberation forces was well earned.

Fallout from the Battle of Kanto:

- Morale Boost- With the victory at Kanto coming the heels of the Chubu victory, eJapanese morale was sent soaring. Activity on the irc channels and among the soldiers and citizens of the country has spiked to levels not seen in a long time. At the same time, the morale of the occupation forces took another serious blow.

Personal Words from myself

Ladies and Gentlemen, a couple months ago, near the beginning of my experience as the Minister of Defense for our nation I was talking to a friend of mine. We were discussing supplies and I mentioned that I had bought gold from Plato. A moment passed and he asked me why would I ever do such a thing. After all this game had become stagnant. Simply a series of over the top attempts from the admins to squeeze what little gold and activity could be gained from the remaining players. Back then I had a hard time explaining why I had done it, but today, as I sat in our nation's chatrooms, I couldn't help but laugh and wish my friend was on to see what I saw.

We had just won the battle of Kanto and jubilation was displayed all throughout our chats. A momentary quiet of disbelief had given way to celebration as we realized we had done it again. Another impossible victory had been achieved. I remembered the argument with my friend and wanted to say "this is why".

Ladies and Gentlemen this nation is not simply a mass of pixels on our screen. When we gained our victories in Kanto and Chubu, we did not just change the color of a section of map. This nation is a community of people. These are people that have laughed and raged together. These are people that have stayed awake countless hours through the night to help each other. When we play this game we are not just changing bits of data here and there. We are playing alongside other people and for those few minutes or hours that we are together we have (even if only in the smallest way) affected each others lives.

I haven't come online to play this game for hours everyday because I want to see my stats increase. I have not played this game because I want to achieve some victory conditions laid out before me. I play this game because of the people I meet here everyday.

Some of you may find my little speech strange, but I just wanted to say it 😛. These days have made me proud to be your Minister of Defense, and whether it is in this role or any other I hope to continue helping this community we call eJapan.

Now then Ladies and Gents, what do you say? Lets keep on playing this stupid game together. We'll laugh, we'll rage, we'll celebrate. So let us continue fighting alongside eachother.

For our Friends

For our Community

For eJapan!
