Greetings. This is an MoD article, but at the same time it is a reflection of what I think, so therefore you need to take this as being constructive criticism. As always, since I started the game 11 months ago, I have endeavoured to serve my country in all means possible, and this is my final stint. Need to start with a serious face though, and non more than this one:

I asked the following questions:

1. Would you join the IA?
2. Would you recommend your members to join the IA?
3. If you won't join or recommend, what are your reasons why?
4. If the issue was the current commander, would you join if there was a different commander?
5. If you would join under a different commander, who would that be?

There was also a slightly threatening endnote about getting a response with 48 hours or the lack thereof would be noted. I'm sorry about that, it wasn't intended.

I got a 50% response rate, not bad actually. I'm not going to make comments on individual responses but in general:

Join the IA? Two responded that either they will join or have already instructed their members to join
Recommend their members join? All bar two had issues with this
Reasons why they won't join? Various, historical, don't like communes, want to concentrate on their own strengths
Issue with the current commander? No, with one exception

So what does this tell us? Well, nothing that we didn't already know. Basically our massive amount of MU's - comparative to our size - are not going to budge.

Ding Ding! Part Two



So, because of our alliances we have had no direct wars for months (apart from Poland but that wasn't a war). With the ending of the regional swap with the UK, we now have no border for a direct war. This is unlikely to change, as a consequence, we are bored. With the political module locked down by the ILP + friends, this is possible the most boring country in eRepublik. Luckily, we still retain a strong community aspect, but ultimately we are now running the risk of losing our younger citizens who have nothing to fight for.

Bluntly, we have three options.

The first is to stay in EDEN and I will get back to this later.
The second is to join CoT
The third is a new Brolliance with USA + Canada + certain EDEN countries

If we join CoT we will retain a friendly border with eUK. We will have a direct war border with eCanada who have rejected joining CoT. Personally I am against this as the current Canadian regime are great. But let's be clear, it will make life a lot more exciting.

There is no chance of another Brolliance. USA is just too internalised at the moment, and without the US there is no chance of attracting sufficient mass to attract more countries in.

So, back to EDEN. Alliances work both ways. EDEN is a good alliance with some dodgy members and a penchant for focusing exclusively on their core members at the expense of the fringe ones.

EDEN have also failed miserably in coming up with a cogent plan in how to deal with the pink menace that is Poland and chums.

However.....I have no doubt that they have tried. The reason why most of Western Europe remains under the cosh from Poland is that the countries themselves are fractured and indisciplined. Which brings me back to the start of this article. If we are going to stay in EDEN, then we need to change our relationship with them.



As a template, what we need to do is show EDEN that we're serious about doing damage for the alliance. This is a message they can readily understand. The only way to do this is by coordinated strikes. The only way this will work is if it's done under one MU. The only MU that can do this is the Irish Army.

This weekend I will be leaving my own MU and join the Irish Army. I urge all citizens to do the same. Psych0 has given more than enough reason in his well written article here, but to recap, there are a limited amount of commune spaces left, the reward is 9 Q7 weapons roughly 150IEP per day as a wage.

In addition, once Yddub's 340k is transferred over to Appleman after the CP elections (ProTip: If Apple is not MoF next term, it won't be) then we will be in a position to start paying for Irish Army strikes as an addition to the commune wages.

In other news;



The future of Boot Camp is now secure. Thanks to the theft(s), the Dept. of Finance have been unable to supply BC. Rikian and others have been using their own funds to keep it afloat. Rikian has had to stand down owing to RL issues and IrishGawain - a rising star - has agreed to stand in with his spreadsheets. Along with some independent funding - thanks - BC will have enough to last until Appleman gets Yddub's dividend.

From a military perspective, there is an MU circular that is updated daily by the MoD team most of the time. This gives the respective military commanders a viewpoint on EDEN priorities of the day.

As a result, we have put in a lot of influence in recent campaigns. The Netherlands, Portugal, Ukraine and Australia. I'm very proud of working with all our military units, I know I will never get what I want, but perhaps we can all work on other ways to coordinate our efforts.

Last bit, in case I get called a hypocrite, it's probably relevant that I inform you all now that I will be leaving eIreland next month. There are a lot of reasons for this, and I'll explain this in another, personal article.
