Dear People of Austria

The Ministry of Community (and/or Culture) would like to hold a CHESS Tournament, given there is interest in it and enough players.

http://www.schachonline.at/ ..should be sufficient to play, it doesnt take long to make an account there and you can play vs anyone immidiately.

so i now ask all of you to register for the tournament if you think you can do something in chess 🙂

the more people register, the more fun! even if you are very bad, do it, you never know..

we did not yet talk about prices for the tournament, but given enough players i bet the government can offer some help to give away prices, not only for winners but for participants!

..i'll think about the mode of the tournament and post the details here - i think it needs ~ 2 weeks time for the tournament so there will be enough time for everyone to play all the matches, cause it will be hard for us to find a conses on time issues.

what mode would you prefer? i think the best would be a qualification round and then a 2-match-knockout till we arrive at the grand final. time: 20 minutes per match minimum, cause i think more time is rather fair than less time if we consider not everyone is an expert in online chess. but i dont mind at all if you would like to have 5 min or 10 either..

Ok, i would now ask everyone to make an account there, i will make a new article about the exact mode of the tournament soon and write a message to everyone participating. the tournament will have a time windows of about 2 weeks, the group-phase should last up to one and a half week.

i will randomize the participants and assemble a time schedule, in which everyone needs to fight the matches with his opponent and both sides have to send me the outcome. if some matches aren't held, both players will be rewarded with 0 points, thus it should be in the best interest for everyone to hold all the matches.

the government has offered real blockbuster rewards for the tournament, ill disclose those when i have the final tournament schedule ready.
