[Ministry of Foreign Affairs] Towards a Mutually Beneficial Deal with Slovenia?
Ministry of Foreign Affairs CH
Dear fellow citizens,
Our country is going through a difficult period. The Government of Switzerland strives to best serve the higher good of the country. To that end, negotiations with Slovenia are taking their course. This article is intended to inform you about the current state of affairs – a situation that depends upon a series of interrelated bilateral talks and agreements involving Slovenia, Slovakia, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and Macedonia.
SWISS REGIONS AND THE CENTRAL EUROPEAN CHESSBOARD
Slovenia’s invasion of Swiss regions was intended to take possession of a cattle region (Romandie or Svizzera Italiana) and an iron region (Deutschschweiz). While the Swiss cattle region completes the already well-garnished Slovenian resources inventory, the Swiss iron region allows Slovenia to return Southern Bohemia to Slovakia – a longstanding and onerous rental agreement about to expire.
Slovenia’s possessions in Switzerland and Italy also constitute a strategic withdrawal zone. Should Slovenia yield ground in the upcoming Slovenia-Croatia war, Croatian forces’ progression might be impeded by the launching of RWs in Italy and – in the last resort – in Switzerland.
Slovenia has no economic interest in keeping the upper hand on Graubünden. However, only regions that have a transport route to capitals provide production bonuses. Graubünden being this bridge, its occupation is the sine qua non of the enjoyment of those bonuses. Therefore, for Graubünden to be returned to Switzerland, Slovenia has to find another possible transport route as an alternative. The two following scenarios depend upon Slovenian-Macedonian bilateral talks.
The Lombardy Option
If Slovenia succeeded in persuading Macedonia to give them Lombardy, Graubünden could be returned to Switzerland. Under these circumstances, Svizzera Italiana would constitute the necessary bridge to Deutschschweiz. The situation is suboptimal for Switzerland, since our two regions would not be adjacent (i.e. no production bonus provided by Graubünden).
The Piedmont Option
If Slovenia managed to take possession of Piedmont – a region adjacent to Deutschschweiz and Svizzera Italiana but apparently not to Romandie, contrary to what the map suggests (bug?) – Graubünden could be returned to Switzerland and Svizzera Italiana exchanged for Romandie. This option would of course best serve Switzerland’s interests.
In this equation, Macedonia remains the major source of uncertainty. Although the country does not make any profit from its Italian possessions, Macedonia does not seem willing to yield to persuasion and facilitate our negotiations.
Under no circumstances should these scenarios be detrimental to our Italian friends.
COMPENSATION AND PARTNERSHIP – THE SLOVENIAN PROPOSAL
The Slovenian government showed its willingness to strike a fair deal in order to compensate for the occupation of our regions. Slovenia offered to provide the Swiss army’s military units with significant amounts of food and weapons.
In several respects, this partnership might be perceived as a mutually beneficial agreement. Thanks to Slovenia’s many MPPs, our troops would have to opportunity to fight on a daily basis; thanks to their in kind compensation, they would do it at a lower cost.
This partnership might be seen as an opportunity for Switzerland to consolidate its military institutions and for its citizens to rank up.
It is up to the Swiss population to accept or not Slovenia’s proposal by means of a referendum. Click here to participate.
FINAL WORDS
To those who might feel humiliated by our recent defeat I say: could Switzerland have held the enemy in check? Obviously no. There is no disgrace in fighting a losing battle. Slovenian soldiers were infinitely greater in number. We have shown our worth and our commitment to our country on the battlefield. We fought as a matter of honor. This is the only thing that really matters. Stay proud and hold your head high despite defeat. Switzerland had to face up to a formidable and valiant opponent who demonstrated respect and consideration for our country. It is all credit to them. One can measure the greatness of a nation by looking at how it treats weaker nations. We are not going to let things get us down! Always remember:
Sincerely Yours,
Xeraes

So let me get this straight. They take our regions and we are allowed to fight in their country for their wars with some weapons and food provided by them? That is seriously twisted.
Good job.
But good advice: dont trust Slovenia
Wenn es keine Ironie ist, ist es Verrat!
Unannehmbar einzig eine freie Schweiz zählt.
Remember guys, the world is round. Can't we just make the trade route go west through America? Hey, Colombus did it, so can we!
@Dr.Pain: "So let me get this straight. They take our regions and we are allowed to fight in their country for their wars with some weapons and food provided by them.”
True…the alternative being … pretty much the same, without food and weapons… 😕
…but you have the right to oppose this deal. I do perfectly understand and respect your position guys. But it’s my duty to submit Slovenia’s offer to your attention in an objective manner. When I say it might be a mutually beneficial agreement, it’s not that I don’t want Switzerland to get its 4 regions back; it’s just that – in my opinion – it’s highly unlikely to happen anytime soon. Just keep in mind that the alternative is probably not recovering full sovereignty, but rather occupation without any kind of compensation…

I am sickened. So we will not only whore out our own territory, but that of out neighbour and fellow victim if Slovenia Italy as well? In order to enable our common oppressor Slovenia to give a Czech region to Slovakia? WE ARE SUPPOSED TO COOPERATE WITH THE ENEMY TO ENSLAVE OURSELVES, OUR NEIGHBOUR ITALY, AND THE POOR, STATELESS CZECHS? This must be a joke, a bad joke.
Won't there be a resistance? I can't even join a party and stuff, because I'm in "Deutschschweiz" and not in the mood at all to buy a moving ticket.. I'm poor man, I can't afford that! xD
