‘It’s just a game.’

Since joining this game 3 years ago I can not tell you how many times I have seen that in an article. Yes, this is a role playing game, or as the ‘Fanatical Fluffer Faction’ puts it a ‘metagame’ (someday someone needs to explain the difference to me), where real world citizens come and pretend they are citizens of eRepublik. When I come here to play eRepublik for a few minutes (oh, alright, several hours) a day I role play as Ichabod Adams, Editor in Chief of the Magic Bullet Newsletter. IMO, it is sad that some citizens of this virtual world have such limited imaginations that they can not do the same.

The reason I joined this game was the ‘Social’ aspect and not the ‘game mechanics’, it was the idea that my persona would be born into the American ‘community’; it is that American Community which has kept me coming back. As anyone who has played this ‘game’ for more than a couple of weeks knows this game is 10% push button warfare and 90% roleplaying that you are a Congressperson, a General of the Armies or a loud mouth drunk at the end of the bar.

I joined the WTP for two very simple reason, Community and Freedom. The freedom to openly express my opinion without being attacked personally and not the opinion expressed. After all is not one of the pillars of Democracy that very right? Isn’t it also the right of every American citizen to be kept informed of the issues currently facing America, both Foreign and Domestic? The members of We the People are a tight knit community where the primary goal is New Citizen Retention, without new citizens America will wither and die.

President Inwegen recently published the article [POTUS] Thank You and Day One!, in which the President has promised that the American Government will become more transparent. One of the trademarks of the ‘Fanatical Flufferist Faction’ is silence. Don’t believe me? Look at all the ‘Government Controlled’ newspapers Inwegen is attempting to bring back. The best example of this silence is The Speaker’s Word, the eUS Congressional newspaper last published on Day 1575, some 273 days ago, for 9 months they have ruled in near total secrecy. For the moment we will ignore the fact that my question about Congress also becoming transparent has remained unanswered and simply say, ‘I won’t hold my breath.’

Another one of my opinions is that until the government becomes transparent and until EVERY American citizen can read ALL Congressional forums, ‘The Speakers Word’ and other Government controlled newspapers will simply be propaganda sheets. They pontificate about Unity and Brotherhood, while they urinate on long time Brothers and actively seek to have citizens ostracized for disagreeing with their opinions. They claim that CTRL is dead and yet continue on their path to the Dark Side. Can you say two faced? I can and it turns my stomach to think that the American Government is currently seen worldwide as a two faced back stabber.
