***Latvia, Our Country and The Issues we Face for the Future***

Hello my fellow Latvians, I would like to introduce myself to everyone. I am Uncle Sam, previously a President of the USA in erepublik. I have quite a background in this game as I've played for over a year and I have been involved in many activities. My times playing this game have given me great experience in most if not every dynamic of erepiblik. Regardless, I am a citizen of this game just like the rest of you.


The Potential of Latvia
I write this article to introduce myself to this country and to also explain why I will be living my life in Latvia for the upcoming months. Just about 2 or 3 weeks ago I was President of the USA, until I was impeached/resigned from office. American politics got too stressful, and so I quit and started to search for alternatives homes. I finally stumbled upon Latvia, which had not been introduced into erepublik yet, and so I decided that a new country would be a perfect place to find a new community and set political scene. In this regard, Latvia has much to offer me while I also have much to offer it as well.

So just what are my goals in Latvia? Well I strive for a successful country, that much is obvious. I come to Latvia to get involved politically. I plan to help get this country going and to help prepare it for the months to come. I plan on starting up a few businesses to employ eLatvians. I also plan on starting a political party and getting involved in elections, congress and hopefully presidential. Still those are matters for later, for this moment in time, we must begin building our country, here are the issues we'll face in the near future.


Threat of a Takeover
This is probably our most pressing matter if we want our country to be successful. There are countries out there that will view us as pawns in the grand scheme of things, and take advantage of that by raiding our political system and treasury. We must fight off these organized groups of foreign invaders. I have seen many individuals immigrate to Latvia, and a lot of them can be trusted as they are separate groups who how no friends to help force them into office or anything. It is the organized groups that we will have to wary of. This is why a bunch of individuals who have joined early have set up two political parties already, myself included with "United" in their names.

There will be a power struggle between those with good intent in Latvia and those who wish to use us for the money sitting in our treasury. Although I know I have only joined and have not done enough to gain trust of the people yet, I extend an offer for people to join my political party "United Democratic Coalition" where we strive for the independence of Latvia, keeping the treasury safe.


Economic Strife
For these first few days we will have a bit of trouble setting up our economy. In the beginning there will be many companies exporting to us, controlling our markets from abroad. We also are facing a lack or currency in circulation, which can cripple our economy. Some citizens will go unemployed, and others will go without the wages needed to buy food. There are a few things that we all can do right now to help this situation.

Buy LVL off the Markets: We need to start circulation right now. Currently there is little to no LVL being exchanged for products or wages. Without the flow of money, we will not be able to provide citizens with what they need to survive in this game. The solution here is to buy LVL off of the Monetary Market, more specifically, the offer set up by Latvija Organization. If we are to jumpstart the economy, we need to first get more LVL into the hands of the people, so if you have any gold I ask that you buy some of our currency with it.

Get a Job and Keep Wellness Up and Spen😛 If you want money, you'll need to get a job. Found in the Human Resources, you can check job offers and apply for a job. Currently wages are very low for a specific reason, there is very little LVL to be spent on wages. If we start circulating LVL as proposed above, we will be able to increase wages and hopefully lower market prices at the same time, making everything more affordable for the citizens. Also, if you have money, spend it on something like food so that our domestic companies can profit, keeping them in business and allowing them to keep providing jobs and products that we need.

If we follow these guidelines, things such as the monetary market and currency value will balance themselves out. My advice to those looking to open businesses is this, for this first week only create companies that are essential like food and grain. We have limited resources, work force included, we we will allow other countries to export to us for now (not that we have the choice) and see what we can do with our numbers once our economy is more established. I'll be sure to keep everyone posted on other economic events.

Government and Politics
We already have established a group of citizens here who are active on the Latvian forums who can be involved in government. Debates about how we should run government have already begun. If you would like to get involved, please don't hesitate to sign up to the Latvian Forums and start talking. We also have included a pathway to an IRC chat room where we can all chat as a community.

The politics here will develop as time goes on, right now we already have a separate job to be done. Anyone who wants to see this country grow should advertise it and try to recruit people to it. Advertise it on other forums, advertise it in Real life Latvia, Advertise Advertise ADVERTISE! There is strength in numbers, and more citizens will protect us from political takeovers.
