[Larry thoughts] "MoW Food for everyone" - Point of view

Day 2,216, 11:40 Published in Ireland United Kingdom by BickUA

I was quite inactive last weeks, trying to get back now. Hope you've missed me 😃

If you have missed - Ministry of Welfare have started very positive thing called Food for everyone (read, participate, support here).
It's very good idea to start supporting our citizens on country level or with funds raised from donations, but I'm not happy how this support is implemented.

In current approach you need to leave a comment in article and you'll get 70 Q5 Food.
I have 3 points for improvement - one critical (from my point of view), one major and one minor (and I'll explain why).

1. Change supplies

Part 1. Efficiency.

NB (but very important): I'm totally sure that d1-d2 players should not fight without weapons at all and get as much strength as they can before starting to gain lots of XP[. d3 players should concentrate on incrasng strength while starting to fight (only with weapons) only for BH medals. In this way we'll have strong d1-d3 that will be ready to help country in epic battles, we'll have strong players in d4 and d4 "newbies" will feel much better with 30k strength comparing with 10-15k strength (which most of new d4's have).

If you've read NB you understand what I mean => food supplies are useless and i'd say more - food supplies are HARMFUL (with a small remark - "blind supplies").

Some numbers here

Let's take a look at our "zeeba" with Y damage.

a) 70Q7 food according to Irish market equal to 30.1 IEP.
With such supply "zeeba" will be able to make 70 fights having 70XP + 70Y damage.

b) If i'll change this supply to (30.1/11.3)=2.7 Q7 tanks (i'll not round it but i think that 3q7 tanks is pretty same in overall expenses, so it's possible to supply with 3q7 tanks).
With such supply "zeeba" will be able to do 27 fights (let's assume that everybody can get 270HP, if no - we'll discuss later). This will give me 27XP + 81Y damage, but have to supply myself with 270HP

c) If i'll change this supply to a bit more balanced, say to 2 Q7 tanks + 20 Q5 food (total is 31.2 IEP) we'll get such result: 20XP + 60Y

Short summary
Changing food supply to weapons supply will increase overall "damage per citizen" in about 15% assuming that citizens can produce 270HP by themselves.

Changing food supply to food-weapon balanced will decrease overall "damage per citizen" in about 15% but "rank/xp" ratio will be 3 times more. This will result in stronger d1-d3 (cause players will be able to get more medals in the end of each division).

Leaving food supply as is will allow us to fight more (less efficient/with less damage) so we'll have more "prizes" weekly challenge, but +-50 hits doesn't matter at all (from my point, again).

Part 2. Free choice, and lots of support

NB: In some of my previous articles you can read my point of view about "free market", market support and citizens development stimulation along with lots of great walls of text in comments from different parts of out community. This could be useful in general and to understand what I mean here.

We're all different. Yeah?
Then why we're supplying everybody with same pack of goods (no matter what exactly - weapons, food, tickets)?

If i'll change our subject zeeba's supply to 30.1 IEP. What could it have?

a) As a lazy zeeba i'll do it the easiest way - I'll but some food and weapons ("balanced" pack) as proposed in previous part (this should be highlighted in MoW article for laziest of us).
b) I'll cover my urgent needs i'll but some food, if I have no ability to work/train.
c) I'll convert this to gold having 0.136 gold => almost covers my daily training on 0.19 training ground, so i'll become stronger zeeba and crocs won't eat me.
d) As a smart fighter I'll try to findout most efficient way to spend them in a balanced way:
d.1) Being highly-patriotic or located in Ireland I'll buy more cost-efficient food (currently Q5 on Irish market looks good, but 15 minutes ago it wasn't so no good example here), or I'll but some Q5 tanks instead of Q7 tanks if i'd like to boost "rank/xp" ratio a bit, but also want to win some more weekly challenge prizes.
This gives us increased demand on Irish market which could possibly lead to some price drop along with some kind of ability for player to choose whatever exactly he need.
d.2) As self-patriotic zeeba and beeing somewhere abroad I'll buy more (i'd say in general 10% more) goods from local market.
This gives us increased "per-citizen" efficiency with no effect on Irish market.

Short summary

Two main points in this "free" approach:
1) It stimulates players to THINK instead of "consuming" given goods.
2) It gives players ability to cover their needs much better.

Of course for those ones who'd prefer to play "uber-casual" way or in "two-click" there should be ability to get "goods-pack" (and I'd say weapons-only) to just press some buttons and ignore markets, prices and blah-blah-blah.

Also, I understand that supplies are often covered by donations (can you donate? have you donated? no??) in goods, but it's possible to kindly ask to donate money (at least you can join me and donate only money to our MoW) or ask players about their needs and donate according to them (not happy with this, but if it'll be the only way - it's better anyway).

2. D1, D2 require special attention, D3 require more attention, D4...

NB (but important, some food for discussions maybe): mid-d4 can be ignored totally in my opinion. We should support those who need it more and help them reach d4 as strong fighters and not as government-food-donated d4 fighters. Don't take it personal please.

This part can be described in less words 🙂

D1 - 2x coefficient, D2 - 1.7x coefficient, D3 - 1x coefficient, low-D4 - 0.7x coefficient.

Or something like this.

3. Make it regular.

This is minor change. Why? Cause I understand that it highly depends on available funds. But i'd prefer to cut funds for d3-4 support but make this regular (ideally - daily) for d1-d2.

HINT: Ireland-USA rent money could be used here 😉

This could be implemented in form of "mentorship" when each new player will have somebody older "attached" to him and helping with supplies and info.

Another (better IMO) way is to implement some kind of supply list (as in any MU with supplies, maybe like it was in IA 6 month ago) where all D1-D2-D3 (depends on funds) will fill their details and MoW will send goods/money to that players daily. List of such players could be published somewhere so if anybody want to do something good they'll be able to pick anybody from that list and send him some personal help.

I think that this changes are critical and urgent, but I'm very happy that work here was started.

Ireland wants baby-boom? No baby boom possible without such changes IMO.

Good luck Rafaia and everybody who help him to do this.
I ask you to support such things if you're able.

And I ask you to NOT BEG FOR FOOD IF YOU'RE ABLE TO BUY IT AND IT WON'T HARM YOU in that articles, so lower-level players can get more help they need.

It's really ridiculous for me when somebody with 30+k strength and 50+ level asks for food. Really? You can't buy it?
