[Kumnaa] The Demise of CCCP and the eUK sites?

As many of you will be aware, the API has been broken since the server move several weeks ago. The community developers have pointed this out several times to the erepublik staff but we seem to have been talking to a brick wall. Not even a "we're looking into it" response.
Several hours ago all requests made by the machine the hosts the CCCP (http://www.cccp-group.org) site and the eUK portals have fallen into the void. This may or may not be erepublik's fault (other issues might be the cause of this) but it has made me think if this is all worth it. When the API worked I could leave the machine running for days without having to tweak anything, I could forget it was there. Now, even when I can connect, I get three or four hundred emails and countless pms a day informing me of eUK citizens trying to get to their tools but being let down by a flakey API.
I'm going to give the API three more days and if things haven't improved I will be shutting CCCP and the eUK sites down.
Any complaints, please direct them towards the erepublik staff.

Don't worry, we'll introduce alternative methods to give orders--maybe the forum, maybe (I would prefer this) a simple shout/Googledoc based system plus a mass PM to check activity once a week. We'll let you guys know. 😃

The problem here is the invisible data feeds coming from eRepublik that sites like CCCP use to maintain services like the hub. They're faulty; misfiring in places and not firing at all in others. Location doesn't come into this issue. 🙁
The issue here is not so much the dissemination of orders, but rather giving the military commanders the tools with which to command. Without the API to populate the military hub, commanders are virtually blind. We really would not want to go back to the bad old days when we used to run on manual Googledocs spreadsheets......

so does that mean the IRC wont work either? we could use the IRC channel to get orders thats if the cccp network dont affect the IRC.

That's too bad. The main issue with setting up some other means of communication is that it will be impossible to prove someone's identity, which means spies will become involved, most likely.
On the other hand, we probably have some sneaking about even as we speak. If Kumnaa is getting this much email every day from failed API requests and there is no sign of resolution from the staff, then closing it off is appropriate.

John, IRC will still work. But it's not as broad-reaching as the hub.

After this is fixed, if it ever is, we should set up a back-up site which contains all the same data and we can just re-direct people onto it. This means that if the main one fails again we can just use that until it gets fixed....
Maybe something like that or even, for now, a IM service just so we can stay up to date until its fixed? Maybe something like that just so we can keep informed.
Bad time for it to crash with eUSA hitting eHungary harder now...

@fighttilldeath, you are completely missing the poing; the problem isn't on Kumnaa's side, but on the erepublik side.
And you can't back up live data.
