THE NEW TRAINING SYSTEM: WHO WON? WHO LOST?

Dear Ekonomi Politik readers,

The new training system has raised a lot of discussion among all players. There is a lot of confusion about two main issues:

1) Which training centers should I upgrade?

2) How did the new system affect players? Who won? Who lost?


I have the answers to both questions. Before I present you the answers, I would like to clarify a few definitions.

ABSOLUTE STRENGTH: The strength number written on your profile
RELATIVE STRENGTH: Your strength relative to the top players

What matters for a player is not absolute strength.

- If everyone had 1 strength and you had 10 strenght, you would be godlike.
- If everyone had 100000 strength and you had 20000, you would be puny.

Hence, to see winners and losers, you should look at your relative strength.

DAILY INCOME: It is the amount of gold you can spend on training on average every day. This includes training center upgrade costs.

SHORT TERM: 100 days
MEDIUM TERM: 200 days
LONG TERM: 400 days


In this article, your relative strength is calculated by dividing your expected strength by that of a 14000 strength and 5 gold daily income guy (someone like Romper, Marco Polo etc.)

We can now move on to the analysis.

The answer depends on your daily income, and how long you see yourself playing eRepublik. Below, I present 3 tables.

- Should I upgrade training center #: Tells you which training centers to upgrade, and use.

1st: The training center that costs 0 gold

3) METHODOLOGY AND SUPPLEMENTARY TABLES

To calculate all the optimal training and building decisions, I used a Matlab code. I can assure you it works, but if you want the source code, you can PM me.

After calculating the optimal decisions in both the new and old systems, I calculated the absolute and relative strengths of players with different daily incomes and current strengths.

If your relative strength in the new system is expected to be higher in 100/200/400 days, you won. Else, you lost.

The supplementary tables show your absolute and relative strength in the old and the new system, for 100/200/400 days.
