For a while now I’ve been stood on the precipice, looking out into the maelstrom which is our great country. At times, I’ve seen many different things- from the chaos of occupation, to the shining light of salvation, the bitter truths of life to the sweet taste of friendship. We are a diverse bunch, divided by our opinions, our decisions, our politics and our friends. Yet that which unites us is far greater than that which divides us.

We are British.



We are united by our passion for our country, by our desire to see it free once again from those that would seek to oppress us. By our devotion to that cause, if not to one another.

We must also be united in facing our problems- in this we have failed thus far.

In looking back over the last few months, I have seen some common themes from our governments, for one reason or another, and these flaws MUST be rectified if we are to move forward as a nation. We are involved in a fight for our lives, but we have shot ourselves in the foot before ever entering the theatre of battle. The obvious implication, then, means that even if we could win by martial strength, we limit ourselves. Our mistakes have been numerous, but among them are decisions that have decreased our activity, our damage, and left our relations with other countries in a poor state. Britain has been broken.




We are without question a shadow of our former selves as a nation, but what do we do? At the moment, it seems, we wallow in self-pity, reminiscing of better days what we liked the game more, when we were whole. The time for this is over. The time to get up, to get our hands dirty, and to act is here. We must, we simply must put aside our blinders, break away our chains, and rise, free, ready and willing to fight side by side!

Here’s a rather apt piece of verse:

Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.



To that end, then, we need to rebuild our broken Britain. We need a leader that will actively lead, that will seek out solutions to our problems, and that will inspire us as individuals to work hard and fight for our country- in all areas.



It is for this reason that I, Talon Karrde, am announcing my intention to be this great country’s next President



Make no mistake- the coming month will be a hard one no matter who we have at the helm. Nonetheless, I pledge my all towards the betterment of our country, a vast improvement is needed and I intend to give it. For months I have worked behind the scenes to secure our future and improve our situation now- I ask you now for a mandate to lead our country, to actively shape policy and try to improve our situation on my own terms.

We must rebuild and reforge our broken Britain and thrive once again!



Over the next few days I will be outlining the specifics of my intended policies, if elected- beginning today with what my own conduct will be like through the month, and by introducing the structure of my cabinet and advisors.


What Will I Do?

If elected, I would first and foremost be as active as I’ve ever been in my time playing eRepublik. I will be contactable via PM, the forums, and IRC for most of the day, and will respond promptly to any query from anyone- communication will be my job.

To that effect, I’ll be producing daily announcements on the forums, and condensing these announcements into broadcasts every three days via in game articles. I’ll be shouting often and about subjects of relevance, and talking to allies and enemies alike on a daily basis.

I’ll also be working closely with my cabinet and advisors, asking for daily progress reports on the former to ensure work is being done, whether by them or at their direction, and continuously managing and listening to the latter.






The Cabinet


I’ll be adopting a simple cabinet structure, removing ministries that are not needed and utilizing a single person in each role that I maintain. Of late there has been a culture of using two ministers in some positions to share a workload- I will instead be encouraging many more people to actively get involved in government, directed by the main ministers, and for those ministers to actively involve more people than of late.

I would encourage ANYONE with a vested interest in the UK to apply for cabinet, whether you think you can get a place or not. Every application will be appreciated- I think we need to send a message that we are an active community that is willing to get involved, and a high volume of cabinet applications will start that process off. If you aren’t picked for a position, please feel free to ask me for feedback as to why- I’ll be frank and honest with you and give you my reasons- and I’ll invite you to get involved with the ministry you applied to, as we’ll most certainly need the help in government, and, if the past is anything to go by, experience as a worker or a deputy in a ministry goes a long way to securing a future role in cabinet.

I’ll be accepting applications for the following positions, please send me a PM in game or on the forums if you would like to apply. In it, outline for me the following:

Why you believe you are suited for the role.

What you would do in the role- not just what my manifesto says I will make you do.

Whether you would be willing to work as a deputy in that ministry if not invited to take on the full role.

The positions available are:

Minister of Defence

Minister of Home Affairs

Minister of Foreign Affairs

Minister of Finance

The successful applicant in each role will be the one I deem to be the best for the job, simple as.

If you'd like to be considered as a deputy for any of those positions please apply in the same format, but make it clear it's for a deputy position.




Government Advisors

In addition to cabinet, I’ll also be appointing some ‘Government Advisors,’ which comprise a new position, quite different to the cabinet and congress advisors we’ve known in the past.

This group can be as large as there are good applicants, and will be given access to HoC sensitive on the forums. In here, they will work with government to improve policy, invent policy, encourage activity and assist me in any way I deem necessary.

Crucially, I would like this group to give me different and divergent views to my own. We live in a pluralistic society, meaning we accept that more than one idea can be valid. I want that kind of thinking in my government- I want to hear every angle before making decisions, and by no means only appoint those that agree with me.
