[Just a Thought] Congress Break-Down and Future Articles

Day 1,133, 20:55 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Connor West

I haven’t written an article in five days, so it’s high time I wrote another! It’s been quite an interesting five days, though. I ran for congress, got a shiny new medal, got up at 2:30 in the freaking morning to daychange vote (I live on US eastern coast, so I’m five hours behind most of you), and I have a green name on the forums now!

Like I mentioned above, I won a seat in the House of Commons in Wales. I’d like to thank everyone who voted for me, the British Democratic Party for allowing me to run, and Terribletiger and Kixtart for organizing the BDP mobile votes and for just being awesome! I was involved, too, but thanking myself would sound vain….

Congratulations to all who won their elections, and to those who didn’t there’s always next month! (OMG, that took FOREVER! I better get votes for this part of the article! … hint hint, nudge nudge)

Anyway, so what’s happening in Congress/House of Commons? Well, the most interesting thing (that I’m allowed to talk about) is the amendment to the Legislative Procedures Act. If this passes, eUK citizens can sponsor bills for the House of Commons to discuss and vote on. In the current system, 5 Congressmen need to sponsor a bill before it’s officially discussed in the House of Commons and voted on, with this addition 10 eUK citizens may sponsor a bill to get the same result (or 1 Congressman and 8 Citizens, or 3 Congressmen and 4 Citizens, etc. Basically 1 Congressman sponsor = 2 Citizen sponsors). This will give the citizenry a reason to be involved, increasing activity and maybe even recruitment numbers. I wholly approve of this and can’t wait to vote in favor of it!

Now that the Congressional elections are over, it’s time to pick our next Prime Minister (Country President). Frerk is running under the TUP banner. A certain name has been discussed as an Aspect candidate (I’m not sure if I’m supposed to say anything, because I haven’t seen an official announcement). Anyway, expect to see a detailed compare-and-contrast between the two candidates in my newspaper in the near future! (Connor can feel the suspense from his subscribers)

Sincerely,
Connor West

P.S. Vote and Subscribe!
