[JLT] Good Bye eRepublik! 再見了!

Day 1,184, 10:17 Published in Republic of China (Taiwan) USA by Jameson L. Tai

Today marks my two-year anniversary on eRepublik. I had hoped that I would be able to continue playing, but seriously the game hasn't been fun since V1.

Yes, the game now is more or less similar to V1 in some respects, but the game mechanics cost much more gold just to stay afloat, whereas in V1 gold may enhance the experience, but it is not a prerequisite to player account maintenance.

I have served in four countries in military, party, cabinet, alliance and legislative positions during my tenure in this game. In addition, I have contributed a significant amount of time to educate players worldwide regarding in-game/off-game organizations on the eRepublik Wiki, attaining Uber Editor status.

Two years ago, the eUS was in disarray, eChina was under Pakistani control, eAustralia was under Indonesian control, and eRepublic of China had not existed yet. The eUS National Guard had just split off from the Army, Training Division wasn't even a branch yet, nor was Cavalry of course... ST6 wasn't even a mere thought.

I'd like to thank a lot of people along the way who have helped me, worked with me, served under my command, and cooperated/negotiated with me during what must have been a dire time to be playing eRepublik if you were forced to deal with me on a regular/semi-regular basis.

As such, unless you're friggin' loaded with cash and/or had no inventory spaces in your character profile, I donated a total of 340 Q3 food to many of you, or if I deemed it would have been more beneficial to donate gold instead, 1 gold. This is the equivalent to a good-bye dinner.

I've served in several military branches for countries, militias, and alliances in basic recruit ranks to the infamous OF-12 General of the Armies rank in which I'm sure my buddies who were quite against rank inflation would shake their heads and facepalm, but no matter. They were good times, regardless of the difference of opinion I had with many.

I've enjoyed my time here, and whether it's the good, the bad, the fugly, the wtf, or the zomfgheadlesschicken, eRepublik served as a reprieve for my daily routine.

I have also enjoyed meeting eRepublik players in real life as well. I had the pleasure to meet Sir Valaro Volcrum, George Armstrong Custer, Chadwick0585 and Harry Tsang and these pleasant experiences were vital to me not leaving the game at an earlier date.

I have given 2 companies to my business partner, which two remaining in which they will both remain in this account and maintain this way.

While I have seen many people message me telling me that I will most likely come back after a few months, I certainly am not planning a return. While I agree that many of my former colleagues who left the game like former eUS Chairman of the JCS NXNW returned not too long ago, I believe that if I do decide to return to this game, I will not do so for at least a few months.

I have a few comments for the four countries I have served intimately with:

* To eUS: I hope your diverse player/community background will allow more productivity instead of more drama.

* To eChina: I hope your country opens up more democratic processes. Founding the first presidential debate in eChina was hefty work, but I hope that this tradition carries on in the future.

* To eAustralia: You guys are a good bunch, especially your military folk. However, it would be nice if you guys worked on your military infrastructure such that we don't have power struggles within the military every month and subsequently drive the military as a whole into various internal political factions.

* To eRepublic of China: You guys are a very close-knit community. Your sense of togetherness brings solidarity to the country's economy, political, and military future. However, I would like to see the end of a one-party-rule-all system. I rather the community be able to effectively bring change to the government via actual democratic process rather than organized voter placements. Furthermore, I would like to see the end of the mild elitism that is beginning to grow within the CFP niche. Elitism is what drove eUS, eAus, and eChina to political failure - I hope this may be avoided in Taiwan as much as possible.

Thank you for two years of pleasant experiences - may you all find the pleasure in this game to continue playing that I have since forgotten.

As my last act as party president, I am running for Country President in Taiwan IN ABSENTIA. I will come back if I end up winning to make sure the country is taken care of until Congress impeaches me, and then I will leave again.

The following are my lulz campaign goals:
1) GDP + 100%
2) Population + 100%
3) Conquer new regions: China: ALL REGIONS.

Obviously this is a lulz campaign, but I thought I'd see how many people would vote for me when I am putting it out there that I will not be campaigning, I will not be playing in this game, and I will not be participating in governmental functions. Same applies to the Congressional seat I just clicked candidacy to. 😉

Lastly, effective immediately, I announce my resignation from the following positions I currently hol😛

* Rank: General; Commanding General of the Republic of China Marine Corps
* Rank: First Lieutenant, Regiment Deputy Executive Officer in the eUS Cavalry
* Director of National Intelligence, Republic of China

Sincerely,

Jameson L. Tai
