[jerryGFL] Military and Foreign Affairs
jerryGFL
This is Part 1/2 of my Manifesto.
Domestic Affairs will be released tomorrow at the same time.
Please vote for the benefit of everyone
*************************
You have read my introduction, now lets get down to business and some hardcore policies that this country really needs and will get under my leadership.
In this article I will outline my startegy on the Military, as well as my stance on Foreign Affairs.
Warning extremely long article! Let’s go.
Military Structure
On the military side of things we need a solution that is not to cost expensive while at the same time keeping the military nationalized but largely self sustained without the need for private Corps, which as we saw last term did not really work out. Here is the new army structure that we propose:
The British Army (Led By Commander In Chief)
The UK Armed Forces will be based in 5 Garrisons. Each Garrison will be responsible for the recruitment and training of soldiers under their designated regions. Each Garrison will hold an unlimited number of Battalions which consist of 20 soldiers. Each Battalion will consist of 2 Companies, A & B holding 10 soldiers each. As well as the previous, each Garrison will be responsible for the production of essential equipment. This task will be designated to the Logistic Support Regiment.
Special Forces
The world famous Special Air Service will be based at Colchester Garrison. The SAS will be formed under the famed Sabre Squadron, consisting of X squads each containing X SAS soldiers. Their task will be to promote the power and influence of the United Kingdom in foreign territory.
Coldstream Guards
The Coldstream Guards are responsible for the protection of the United Kingdom's sovereign territories. All politicians and land-locked citizens will be re-directed to the Coldstream Guards and will only be provided equipment to fight in wars the UK itself is specifically involved in, i.e. triggered by an MPP. They are structured in the same way any other Battalion is.
Royal Logistics Corps
The Royal Logistics Corps is the backbone of the United Kingdom’s Supply Line. It works within the UK at Military Garrisons to make equipment and supplies for all branches of the UK Armed Forces. These will be units of 20 men, stationed in similar regions, working in the following Garrisons. Each soldier will be gifted one piece of food per day, to cut down on salary needs but still fulfill their wellness requirements.

Organisations
Each Garrison will have their own Organisation, in which any company assigned to that Garrison will be run under. Each Major General will have access to the Garrisons Organisation. The Commander in Chief and each subsequent position above, excluding the War Council will have access to the account information of each Organisation.
Military Training
Each and every soldier, once recruited, will be forced to attend the Royal Military Academy of Sandhurst which will provide the necessary training required to become a soldier in the British Army. How Military Training is carried out is up to the Commander in Chief to decide. Military Training must be sufficient enough to meet the minimum fighting standards which include: Use of Hospitals, wellness monitoring and tips and tricks of war.
Royal Navy & Royal Air Force
These will be disbanded and disuses in the eUK Armed Forces for the following reasons:
1. There are no ships/planes in eRepublik
2. When/if vehicles are introduced it saves us having to reform the entire UK Armed forces, again.
British Army and the Forums
The Military Forums are to be either archived or deleted and in-place will now focus on garrisons. Each Garrison will have their own forum and a sub forum for each Battalion.
As well as the reforming of the forums, the following forum will be created under the Military Category; Royal Military Academy of Sandhurst. This will provided all the training material for soldiers in the British Army. It will also be staffed by Army Staff to carry out educational tests within the British Army. This could perhaps be run in conjunction with the Ministry of Education.
Databases
The key to being a leader in the Information Age is the ability to retain and document as much information as possible. A database system, robust enough to store information on each soldier, will be requested from the Ministry of Technology. This database will record what courses a soldier has completed his service information, i.e. which garrison they belong to and other vital statistics. This should not be done via GoogleDocs, but through a MoD website, accessibly by Military Leaders and Military Staff.
Foreign Affairs
This is by many regarded as the most pressing issue on the table at the moment and I agree with that. However diplomacy is not something that can be rushed, but it needs to be carefully executed and other countries will have to be approached. I have a large network of contacts in many countries and I intend on utilizing those contacts to properly and efficiently evaluate all the options available to the UK.
As stated earlier, getting away from “Alliance Branding” is quite necessary. Many of you will have seen my initial Phoenix proposal. However I do not intend to see that as the only way of action on the Foreign Affairs platform but merely as one of many possibilities that will carefully be looked into.
We need to start judging people based on their merits as a country. Alliances are not the same thing as friendships, and our World should not be judged based on what Alliance you are a part of. Neutrality is possible in this new World, so long as it’s done correctly. Keeping friendships and trust open are vital to solid respect between Nations.
In addition to a "Merit Based Respect" for all nations, we shall remain in an uncommitted state in terms of Alliances, as to not make a rushed decision. Decisions which are not carefully thought out and maintained are usually rushed and poorly planned, and our safety and security is paramount.
In the current state of World Affairs, any new Alliance must be well established, yet we will not rule out joining an existing one. We must remain open and cautious to every option available to us, and as a group between the House of Commons and House of Lords make a decision we are all comfortable living with.
Conclusion
If elected I will ensure a firm and secure foreign policy based on establishing who our friends really are.
For the Military Section i woudl like to extend special thanks to Squiddy, Iain Keers and Dishmcds who strongly helped and worked their heads of in formulating it.
For all of you who have gotten this far thanks for taking your time to read all of the above.
I will release my Domestic Affairs tomorrow at the same time so please stay tuned.
This article is part of the reason, why this Friday, a vote for me will be a vote for YOU.
Yours sincerely

This is EXCELLENT.
Fantastic!
I FU**ING AGREE SO!!!!
By your standards we'll have only just enough to fulfill one garrison!
And having each garrison on a different forum serves no purpose, the military needs to communicate to each other
The forums do not need to be cut into each sub-forum
There's barely enough activity as it is
Great idea! Local battalions are such a great idea!
@ altmer the subsection forums is a valid point, naybe it willbe easier just to sticky threads or something. These are fine tunings that can only be worked out when actually implementing the solution.
Great ideas mate 🙂
I like it, but I think this is a bit too complicated. Do we even have enough people to fill these positions?
@ Jerry. Thanks for listening to my opinion 🙂 Not all politicians would
@Jack. We don't have nearly enough people
We will only have enough men for 3 full strength battalions at the very most. If your hellbent on removing the name of the Navy do so and re name it the Army and call the companies garrisons . I like the Idea about logistics and the academy.
That was Cohen by the way
altmer as i said on irc i realise that we wont be able to fill all garrisions and only 2 or 3 at the start btu we need something we can build upon.
JerryGFL = My Vote
you have my vote but i think that we need to move away from the alliances with atlantis and try to have better relations with Europe.
fantastic manifesto, and the best of luck for the elections
The Military is a little complex through.
Its sorta like the corps system
Its a bit complicated and are there even enough people
To anyone who thinks there arent enough people:
We need to drive recruitment. We have the fourth largest country in Erepublik, yet one of the weakest militaries because our systems won't support large fluxes of numbers. Imagine if we could even half way fill those Garrisons along witht he Para's, or bump registration up some. Imagine what our economy would do with another 500 people becoming active because people pay attention to them?
Imagine that, and you'll be imagining a better, more active UK.
it's a good plan but i don't think this will work
This is the best break down in plan of the british forces I have heard of.
voted and I will so be there to vote for you in UK 🙂
Nahh, the military shape should _follow_ the recruitment drive. This is just unnecessary bloat at the moment.
Plus, haven't we learnt from sara that military structure _shouldn't_ be in a manifesto? If you believe in this idea then you should have proposed it before the election. There is no good reason to wait until election time to propose something that needs to go through HoC anyway.
Empty election promises.
Not a very good effort.
Nice one Jerry.
Where do the Paras fit into your military structure ?
Also why no Garrison in N. Ireland ?
I would have liked a little more in relation to FA, but it's a good base to build upon.
@ Jerry. I know that you said it on the IRC and I appreciate you accept it. I was just answering Jack's question
But you are right, everything needs a basic structure before it can be implemented. Its just I'm worried the army won't be stationed at Q5 hospitals simply because of their names
But I'm glad you are taking these things into consideration and if a recruitment drive is successful then your plans could be perfect
Hi i like the ideas, me and the directors of Brimer-war PLC would love to offer our Q1 Weapons Factory Armstrong Tank Work (We are passionate about our roots in the North East of England) on a PFI basis, so instead of paying 20+ gold just to set up a factory let us make the weapons for you and euk gets a leg up in the arms race.
Otherwise i think people will just become 2 clickers
This is a very interesting article. I'm eagerly looking forward to the domestic affairs part. I'm curious to see, how you will propose dealing with the pressure the grain market is experiencing and your plans to revitalise the economy in general.
Looks like Friday we'll see quite a fight.
Looks great!
The only comment that I would have is that N. Ireland (equipped with Q5 hospital) may be a better place to base the SAS and Paras - certainly looking a little underpopulated militarily with but a part battalion of 'Squidgies' (youu may have to look that up!)
Bottom line is that we should aim to get every member of the eUK into the military in some capacity or another. Number of people is one of our great strengths - if only we can get organized!
CC
I really like this and your ambition to improve the military. Not too convinced theres need for quite as much of the organisation that you've outline though.
all this seems like is changing the names of the navy and the paras and adding squads :V
To sum up:
Military: Lol Sandhurst! "Military in Q3/4 hospital regions for no reason!"
Foreign Affirs: "Here are some words and no substance!"
You and Kumnaa have both been very careful what you say about the situation in Germany at the moment. Could you tell me exactly what you intend to do concerning this? For me, this is the most pressing issue on eRepublik today.
@Joachim: This is basically saying he would not support Germany. It is the same argument as the U.S.(neutrality). Alliances need to be evaluated for the good of the country, not for our "friends."
@Goku: Agreed. Lots of words, not a lot of substance (especially in the foreign affairs section).
It is incredibly complicated for something that is so simple. eRepublic military operations consist of two things: logistics and coordination. A deep military structure is woefully inappropriate for the mechanics involved and is only suitable as an opt-in purely for flavour activity.
I can appreciate the effort put in and why people may be impressed with it, but it's not practical and isn't something that should be enforced onto the eUK as a whole. New recruits need simplicity, not a wall of text that means next to nothing to them.
You're going to get rid of the navy? Isn't that like the most British thing ever?

high oil q2 for sale only for 38 gold!
@Dan, new players wont recieve a wall of text, thats why its all broken down into a hierarchy, they will recieve nice simple instructions and explanations from there direct superiors.
If things dont work out quite as planned, slight changes and tweaks can be made, as have been outlined.
This gets my vote! The military is one of the many aspects of Govt that needs a radical shakedown and will hopefully work better than a Squad Sgt asking if you are active once in a blue moon.
Just don't post me to Tidworth, it is a depressing place!!
This is the best military idea i have ever see on this game
You have won me over to your cause - you got my vote
FLAWLESS
This is ruddy brilliant jerry, the best organisation plan i have ever seen for the army
Look at all the orgs saying that the plan is brilliant!
Why is fighting from Q3 and Q4 hospital regions brilliant?
i have a question.
would one automatically become part of garrison if you live in its region and train?
also
i live in london, so would i have to join a Q5 weapons production company?
HEIL KUMNAA
I just voted for Jerry in the elections.
