[ISP] An Empire Under the Sun

Day 782, 19:01 Published in Japan Japan by Imperial Sun Party

Reiji Mitsurugi for Party President
This is the first ever article published in the New Society that was not written by KITA Ikki. Our visionary leader for so many terms, and the only party president since our founder, Tohru. Now, since his election to the national presidency, KITA Ikki has chosen to step down. As vice president of the Party, I now feel it is my responsibility and my honor to take up the kyokujitsuki and lead the Imperial Sun into an era of even greater glory.

For some time, I was a disciple of President Kita's. It may surprise some of you to hear that the first political party of which I was a member was Akki's National Alliance Party. It was only after I published my first few articles and consequently my first letters from Kita that I moved over to the right side, to the Imperial Sun Party.

It's been some time since those days, though. The country has changed a lot. Mostly for the better. I no longer look to Kita for guidance so much, and even have a few students of my own. So you might imagine an Imperial Sun led by Reiji Mitsurugi won't be quite the same as one under KITA Ikki.

Imperial Sun Party leadership meets with military commanders to discuss cultural and spiritual issues.

Firstly, we need more organization. Historically, the Imperial Sun Party has organized well for elections, consistently being the largest or second largest bloc in the Imperial Diet. But outside of that, we have not done well with maintaining party communication and organization.

In the interests of establishing more clear standards for such party organization, I have written drafts of a Party Charter and a Party Platform for 2010. Both of these are visible and open for discussion on the National Forum but I will post some samples from both here:

From the Party Charter:

The Imperial Sun Party of Japan was founded by Tohru. It has endured multitude hardships and overcome great threats, leading the nation through revolution and establishing Asia’s first free and independent republic.

The party follows the Righteous Nation Philosophy and the Constitution of the Empire of Japan. It is united in its adherence to the concept of constitutional democracy and seeking a strong, united and prosperous nation, and a Harmonious Society.

It is hoped that all members of the Imperial Sun Party maintain the traditional imperial spirit of the party in their hearts, acting and moving together.

From the Party Platform:

We, the members of the Imperial Sun Party, challenge the cult of the individual and defend the authority of the orderly state.

We hold that all individuals have the responsibility to submit to the dominion of the state and its sovereign in pursuit of greater harmony, while generally retaining the right to live in whatever manner they choose, so long as they do not forcibly interfere with the authority of the state or its sovereign, or with the equal right of others to live in whatever manner they choose.

From my younger days as a soldier. My bones may be weaker, but my resolve has never been stronger!

And now I will close with President KITA's usual message....

If these look like positive achievements and goals to you, then you may wish to consider joining the Imperial Sun Party! We are an authoritarian party, which does not mean that we stifle debate, rather we encourage the generation of ideas. But it does mean that once we decide on a course of action, we move together as a team to get things done. We are also a centrist party, meaning we favor market solutions where possible, and state solutions where it is not. Real life politics do not play a role in eRepublik! Our thinkers look at the game mechanics and do their best to create programs that maximize efficiency and strength. Please be part of a stronger Japan by joining the ISP and supporting our candidates for congress!
