[Ireland]Alls Well that Ends Well

Greetings Ireland;

As most are aware, I am the Prime Minister of the Isle across the sea. You have, for roughly two weeks, occupied one of our regions, but most of you don't have any actual background on events leading up to it, contrary to what your own President, whom shall be here on referred to as that Dame called Edna, has told you.

In light of that, here's some information most of you probably do not know.

Contrary to popular belief, intelligence in Erepublik is far from dead. There are various ways of extracting it, from Agents planted on foreign soil to forum infiltration through the use of other people's accounts, and it can be very useful in a situation like the one we've faced for some time. For argument's sake, this plan shall refer to our particular agent as Nine (one of the few things Shadow did well was not using names when running MI6).

In late December, before the January elections, as leading frontrunner for the Prime Minister position here in the UK, I was approached by both Digits and Edna, regarding the concept of a Training War. Initially, the idea was brought to me about Wales, however, during the course of discussion, it was altered to Northern Ireland, due to the historical and regional value. You can see evidence of this from Edna's initial manifesto and goals from the Presidential run in January. She won by a slim margin, although in the coming week, the idea had to be halted due to our invasion commencing initially from Poland, Canada, and Sweden.

On January 20th, 2010, in secret a War Cabinet was convened to try and figure out how Ireland could attain Northern Ireland through the EDEN invasion that was taking place. Included in this council were John Jay, Dub, Patton, Edna, JohnSmith2K9, among a few others I did not recognise. It was separate from the Dail, as they did not want it to be presented as the idea stood, mainly because they wanted to work out the details. I was notified of the plan by Nine roughly 6 days afterwards, provided with screenshots to prove its authenticity.

It was simple. Initially presented by Patton and Edana, Ireland would follow the steps liste😛

1. MPP with the United States
2. Invade Northern Ireland along with EDEN

John Jay was largely the only protesting voice among the council, although later on Patton also changed his stance due to how long Ireland had waited to act on anything regarding the war. It was pointed out several times over that the US MPP with Ireland was money that would be wasted, as not only would Ireland's MPP not be activated with the US, but the US's MPP would not be activated on Ireland's end either. It was just a waste of 100 G, however, Edna had planned along with EDEN to take Northern Ireland when the opportunity presented itself.

During the course of the war, not only did Ireland take it's expected Neutral stance on the invasion of the United Kingdom, but it also planned with EDEN to relieve them of the responsibility of safeguarding Northern Ireland. When this happened, it was actually of benefit to the UK for two reasons.

First, if their invasion did in fact succeed in taking our Fortress in London, Northern Ireland would now be easily regainable in Resistance form, since Ireland does not carry the ability to retain non-original regions.

Second, in the event that the invasion was unsuccessful (or, in the case of how it unfolded, the agreement of peace between nations was reached), Northern Ireland was still easily regainable by Phoenix for the same reason.

A few days ago, the day before Phoenix was victorious in Upper Austria, an initial Resistance War was planned. This operation was largely to test the mobile capabilities of the UK's Armed Forces. As with most RW tactics, we hit the wall day 1, although we used Q1 weapons for all troops, and did not sponsor any Government tanking. The wall quickly dropped to around -30,000 points, and it was left. Ireland was caught off guard, and several people had to tank to regain their wall. We did not hit the wall in that RW day 2, as it was used as a dummy tactic. Our damages were largely spent elsewhere, and we knew that by allowing this one to end, and simply hitting the next one, we would catch Ireland with most of it's damage in the wrong battle.

As you can see, Phoenix and the UK's strategy worked. Not only that, but many people in Ireland and from abroad spent money from Governments and their own funds trying to save it. Even Eugene Harlot, someone I loath in Erepublik, noted on the US forums that without creating a fortress, something Ireland isn't capable of at its current population, they could not consistently count on foreign support to keep their region, or they would go broke very quickly.

As of now, dearest Ireland, you have two choices.

1. You can continue on this path of rivalry, something I won't disagree with if it's your decision. You can try to take it from us properly, in a real war, costing yourselves for the war declaration and proper battles. This would largely turn into nothing more than a free training war for Phoenix, if this is the decision you are going to make.

2. You can leave well enough alone, and go back to being neutral and bored.

It's up to you. As you can tell, your President and her attempts at diplomacy are largely responsible for this split. If you choose to make this a never ending rivalry, I caution you to properly learn the mechanics of the module you're about to use, and a little more about World GeoPolitics, beforehand. We're not going anywhere, and until you choose to turn this into something more than a simple RW, it will be treated as such. We might not be Hungary, the United States, or Serbia, but we are as proud of our Original regions as anyone, something you should be quite familiar with.
