[Huey George] Update #8 from 10 Downing Street - March 2015

Day 2,692, 11:56 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by 10 Downing Street

Introduction

I feel it has been a good and productive week since our nation's revolution. I have enjoyed more moments in the Country Presidency than I have previously during this term. Despite the manner of the revolution and the first two law proposal from Congress, I could not help but to be relatively pleased that democracy has been restored. However I still stand by my choice to abstain from combat for either side and ask my Government to take a position of neutrality.

The majority of UK citizens did read widely, seek opinion from their friends, parties and MUs and made their own informed choice about what action to take. In the end the UK citizenry decided which is how it should be as a 'Government' line should not hold strength over your own values and principles.

I have been going full speed to once again to fairly represent the electorate by ensuring a successful and comprehensive handover will be ready on the 6th April. There was one or two more tasks I would have liked to have accomplished this term primarily providing an opportunity for citizens to earn true patriot progress towards the achievement rewards however this was and is still best left for my successor to ponder options with Congress. I had also hoped to handover a fuller treasury to my successor... I will update you the UK citizenry on this later in my article.

Congress and Law Proposals

- Minimum wage change from 0.1 GBP to 56 GBP. A Congressional debate with no advice from my Government sought. Ultimately Congress voted against this proposal which I am pleased with as I feel we should maintain the 0.10GBP minimum wage. This is because we hold a believe that every worker should have the freedom to chose their wage, no citizen is forced to work solely for weapons, food and/or altruistic desires and a higher than minimum wage can be found easily if required.

President Impeachment - Another Congressional debate with no advice from my Government sought as you would expect however I did present my case to Congress and I offer my greatest thanks those members of Congress who supported me.

Out of the arguments leveled against my Country Presidency I would like to address one as much as I should have liaised and attempted to influenced our Dictator to the democracy he promised however always seemed on the cusp of taking it away. I felt this term's Congress and last term's abdicated all their responsibilities to both the Dictator and myself a little too easily. If a Dictatorship ever arises in the UK again, which I hope it does not. This is a dangerous precedent as Congress has a duty to the UK Citizenry to hold a Dictator accountable as much as a Country President in my opinion.

Issue Money - A proposal to issue 100000 GBP for 500 GOLD
A Congressional debate with no advice from my Government sought. Congress voted against this proposal.

The Work Tax will be changed from 1% to 3% During Congressional discussion regarding this law proposal independent advice was provided to Congress. A little to my disappointment the vote passed I personally think 3% is too high however it is a Congressional decision. A 2% rate is more appropriate as it means as a country we run at a surplus so to support us as a Country to afford all our MPPs (and extras when required) and set Command Orders when necessary.

Finance

Unaccounted for public funds

An update on the 1,082,000.00cc of tax payer funds transferred or used by WayneKerr during his dictatorship.

108,000.00cc is still with the Bank of England as Wayne placed this amount on the Monetary Market. However the rest remains unaccounted for. Five days ago I asked Wayne to return all public money he transferred during his time as Dictator back to the Bank of England or provide a comprehensive account of its spend. Anything other than the above I will consider that he is now working against the best interests of the UK. I still await a response.

I have received some Congressional support that all public money should be returned by Wayne and that it should be only for Congress and the elected Government to decide how to spend this money. So there seems to be very little more I can do. It is up to Wayne to at least 'once' act like the Dictator the United Kingdom deserved at the time instead of one appointed by the actions of one citizen who himself has still not accounted for his poor judgement and disregard for the democratic process.

Foreign Affairs

Lithiania
After discussions with my cabinet, diplomatic talks with my presidential counterpart and consultation with members of Congress we renewed our MPP with Lithuania.

Belarus
pan Lisowski Belarus's CP/Dictator has asked if we can sign MPP between our countries. It is not a MPP the UK has recently held.

The benefits of an MPP with Belarus will be to explore new friendships. There is no conflict of interest in signing a MPP with them against our existing stack so it is something we could agree to.

I have asked Congress to consider it and give me their thoughts about the proposed MPP.

Close

I'd like to close by thanking my cabinet Vistulus, Alexander Atem, Rob the Bruce, Paulus G, Madelina de Melrose, Fataliix, Alexsander.V Popovic, Aaron Mark Daniels, VoodooMike71, Max Blue, Sir Humphrey Appleby and thegreatsponger for all their excellent work this term. It has not been an easy one however each performed admirably in an often hostile environment and kept the UK citizenry updated, informed and protected while also supporting our allies when requested.

Thanks for reading
