[GT] Second Week Voting Record and Thoughts.

Day 2,305, 11:42 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Ayame Crocodile

Well as promised here is my second weeks voting records and reasoning, And my what a week we've had, If you've managed to avoid the deluge of arguments, proposals and counter proposals then you've got some luck on your side. Although I do love this kind of stuff.

So first things first...

Key
*Related Country Flag for each proposal
*The Yellow, Red & Green GoodTimes colours around the votes signify how I voted.

During the last few weeks I've seen a fair few eTurks hitting hard for the eUK despite often having battles themselves, So long as our MPPs mean that we get support during troubled times and open up battles we can help in during the quiet I'm going to be voting yes unless I have a strong reason not to.

So far from what I've seen eTurkey have shown themselves to be pretty decent allies.

Lithuania are by far my favourite eCountry (other than the eUK ofc!), One of my proudest moments is still leading us to the defence of Lithuania against Germark. They are brilliant allies and just all round great guys and gals. A resounding yes from me, each and every single time!

Hail Lithuania!

This proposal to impeach our new President, The Equalist, was proposed by Hollenboer.

Given that The Equalist had barely been made CP just a few hours before, I think it's fair to say that this proposal was without merit and had nothing to do with the president himself or any of his actions.

As such I voted no.

The Equalist, like most Presidents, has probably been looking forward to finally getting this chance to show us all what he is capable of and for someone to want to rob him of that and all his hard work building to because of his party affiliation is depressing to say the least.

100,000gbp -> Bank of England

This proposal for a transfer of money from the national accounts was given the green light by our Minister of Finance, Dr Kawishiwi, and was for the expressed purpose of paying for Combat Orders.

Given how effective the COs have been in winning back our homeland over the last couple of days, I'd say this decisions has been vindicated several times.

To be perfectly honest I have very little contact with eBosnians but I do know that as things stand they are on our side and give us the possibility of MPP battles, which given that we are reclaiming our regions at a rather rapid rate now could become very useful in the near future.

We've had one hell of an interesting, if that is really the right word for it, week in Congress. With one meeting decending into farce, Proposals to ban an entire party followed by a counter proposal of the same sort and finally a proposal to impeach the speaker.

I don't want to go into too much depth about this, enough time has already been spent churning over this in the media for anyone who is interested, but I will give a quick summary of my viewpoint regarding these matters.

*Firstly the meeting and what a certain MP sai😛 It is unacceptable that when the topic of a potential PTO and getting a Citizenship procedure back in place is raised that any member should gloat and purposefully provoke the rest of the house into a hostile reaction. It is even more unacceptable that when your opinion isn't the one held by the majority to resort to implying threats and blackmailing others with the notion of intentionally letting in hostile groups into the eUK until your viewpoint is the accepted one.

If you cannot play by the accepted rules or at least discuss without resorting to such behaviour then you have no place in discussions and deciding how on those accepted rules. Although the apology was welcome I still feel there is information purposefully being withheld regarding the latest wave of CS grants by a tight group of congress members in the space one day.

*Secondly the proposals to ban by party are something I can never agree to, Members of the House should be treated according to their own actions and not as a collective.

For the record I voted on Abstain on both Party Ban proposals (though now wish I had voted no instead.)
No on the Speaker Impeachment

As such I launched my own proposals as soon as the vote closed and the results were announced, which outlines my take on the matter as well.

First Proposal
~Revocation of the blanket ban by party~

To ban by party is to ignore individual merit and actions. It's a punishment of all for the actions of a few, And while it's fair to say that some may well deserve being removed from sensitive discussions in banning all members of any party we merely push those who have yet to conduct themselves in a negative way towards those who have.

Some members have given constructive input and haven't shown (at least by actions) that they are in support of the very thing which lead to the call for a ban in the first place.

If we're to ban people by party then we are only giving credence to the claims of victimisation that are used to justify damaging acts against the eUK.

I'd like to call on congress to revoke this act and not fuel the fire by banishing members who may have unknowingly been associated with poor elements of the eUK.

-

Second Proposal
~Uphold the bans on those who have purposefully given CS to members of hostile nations~

The purpose of the original ban was to ensure that those who have given CS and have helped support a proposed PTO by a foreign entity were punished. By maintaining this ban on those who have already done so we would be keeping to this line whilst giving a clear message to anyone else that this is the consequence of such an action.

If you cannot stick to the generally agreed upon consensus by the vast majority and purposefully wish to undermind our nation and democracy then you have no place in sensitive discussions about protecting the nation.

-

By way of both of these proposals my intentions are to punish those who wish to harm us collectively and allow those who haven't not to be drawn into feeling they should do likewise.

That legislation should be a deterrent from conducting yourself in this manner rather than an encouraging factor to do so.

*Third and finally the proposal to impeach iAdastros as speaker was soundly defeated and rightly so. He has facilitated more discussions than most speakers in a long time and has been constantly keeping the public updated.

He is not responsible for the bad behaviour of the House and has done a pretty good job of keeping a level head despite all of this turmoil.

We as a group need to learn to act as adults far more often, Too many are far too happy to think short term, Gleefull of brash behaviour, provocation and bragging.

This applies both inside and outside congress, but the egos on show within can be incredibly stiffling. If you are unable to keep a level head (which I admit I myself have lost once or twice over the last few days) then you have no place in acting as a member of the house.

If you put your interests before those of the eUK then you should not be taking part in national decision making. It really is that simple.

Anyway once again I hope I haven't bored anyone too much and that this has given a little bit of an insight into what is going on within congress.

Thank you again for reading!
