[GOV] November Primary Election Nominations
BundesPresseDienst
As with last month, we are holding a non-binding straw poll to help select the next president. The first step of this process begins today: nominations. You can nominate yourself, or someone you support, for the position. This is done by sending a message here. Nominations will be open for 24 hours.
You are encouraged to campaign! You can post an article explaining why you want to be president: your ideas and goals. This will help people decide who to support when the polling begins.
The next step, of course, will be the actual poll: this will begin on October 31st, including the names nominated through this process. Voting will also take place for 24 hours. The results will be released on November 1st.
Although not binding in any way, we hope this process can help start conversations and add interest to the process. We hope you take part!

After some payments by cyberkoc, it's down to 445k already. Still not good, but it's getting better.
As you will remember, when you were nominated to run for president, I contacted you and asked if you would be interested in running. This was not because I wanted you to be president - to be perfectly honest here, I would not. It was because that's how this works - someone nominates a person, I ask that person if they are interested, and if they are, they appear on the poll of interested candidates.
I'm not sure I see your objection to the process here - perhaps you can explain? Last month there was one person who stated they were interested in running, so it would have been the same outcome whether there was a primary or not, with the party leaders just deciding completely on their own. The impact of a primary vote is felt more when there is more than one person interested in running. Party leaders can look to see how much support each person got, when making their final decision (which is still up to them).
Are you suggesting that I should take more of an editorial role in only presenting candidates that I support? I would counter that this would go against the spirit of the primary. Are you suggesting that it is better to not gauge a public view? Truly I am curious to see your objection and would love for an elaboration.

I think you misunderstood - I did not claim you were a candidate or that you wanted to run. I said you were -nominated- to run, and I contacted you to see if you would accept the nomination to run. It is true, you were not interested (and therefore you were not in the main poll that month, only the secondary ones - http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-gov-august-primary-results-2420687/1/20), but that doesn't change the fact that I contacted you. I'm not just saying this for a metaphorical "walk down memory lane" - it illustrates the point that I don't just include people who I support for the position of president.
Which leads me again to the question, are you suggesting I should only include candidates I personally support? I am unclear as to what, ultimately, you are objecting to here. I would love to know and would love to see your explanation.
To slightly amend my statement, there is some impact even when there is just one candidate in the "main" poll, as the secondary questions ask for support amongst all nominated candidates. This can give people some insight as they consider whether they want to run in the future (for instance, if they have a lot of support.)
By soliciting nominations, you could also argue that this acts as a reminder - helping to get the ball rolling - and also giving a little bit of a framework for someone who might be interested in becoming involved.
I personally think these are good things, as they could in theory contribute to building a more active community, but would be open to hearing different viewpoints if you have them.

do u know that everybody (yeah.. EVERYBODY!) can nominate everyone? ah.. now i got it - eheslo's brain IS working! he just can't understand what he is reading!
Rangeley: please only use words with 4 letters or less. Anything beyond just makes Eheslo's head hurt.
Thank you for your reply, though I must tell you that I already read it the first time you posted it. As I explained above I include all nominated candidates who are interested in running in the main poll. For those who are not interested, they are included in the secondary polls of all the nominated candidates. This has included you in the past, as you were nominated (though uninterested in running). I don't exclude people based on my personal preferences. I would not support you for president, but still included you in the process as I do for others.
Are you suggesting that I should not present all candidates in the poll, or some other modification for this process?

I think it's hilarious how a Kuruc is making those accusations when the track record and history of how you got here is by no means clean.

i think it's hilarious how narrowminded you are. instead of complaining all the time: go on - make it better! it's your turn! u little jobbikbrainwashed child.

An eAustrian citizen? I laugh, to me you're just one of the many kurucs that got through thanks to AEmmerich, another terrible person who got elected by lying to everyone. A person who was openly advocating PTOing all the political parties.
So please drop the half broken English insults that are on par with "stupid poopy head". Come back to insult someone when again you aren't a member of a group that got here through illegitimate means and intended to PTO. Okay? Okay.
Now Cyberkoc, suck a dick. :--D.
See? It's okay cause I didn't try to PTO eAustria and I'm not an illegal.

Very undemocratic of eheslo to delete all his comments... Discussions in public are useful because the citizens can get an impression of the people who want their votes. By deleting his comments Eheslo also deletes a lot of this information. I figure he believes that he didn't appear very sensible in these comments. Nevertheless, people shouldn't hide from taking responsibility for their actions/comments. I'm disappointed.
