Beste burgers van eNederland,

Zoals jullie misschien in het vorige artikel hebben gelezen, bevindt ons land zich op een cruciale positie voor de oprukkende Serviërs. Het is onvermijdelijk dat we op de een of andere manier in een oorlog met onze oude bondgenoten zullen komen. In deze lastige positie gebracht heeft onze president, Garmr, een moeilijke beslissing moeten nemen.

Oorlogsplannen
In overleg met zijn Servische tegenhanger is besloten Nederland open te stellen voor de Serven. Dit houdt in dat Nederland tijdelijk van de kaart zal worden geveegd. De president heeft een voorstel ingediend om Servië tot Natural Enemy te verklaren, waardoor we, als het voorstel wordt aangenomen door het parlement, onmiddellijk in een staat van oorlog met Servië zullen verkeren. Omdat wij de oorlog openen, mogen wij eerst aanvallen. Deze aanval is alleen voor de vorm; zodra we die slag hebben verloren, hebben de Serviërs het initiatief en zullen ze met de invasie beginnen.

De Servische troepen zullen onze regio’s dan één voor één innemen, te beginnen met Zuid-Nederland, dat binnen een paar uur weer Nederlands grondgebied zal zijn. Als alle regio’s zijn ingenomen, is de oorlog automatisch ten einde.

Hierna zullen de Serviërs op weg gaan naar hun eindbestemming in het Verenigd Koninkrijk en zullen onze regio’s weer een voor een worden bevrijd, te beginnen met Zuid-Nederland. Die regio zal echter, volgens afspraak, meteen weer worden ingenomen door Polen. Na deze overdracht zullen Oost- en Noord-Nederland aan ons worden teruggegeven.



Gevolgen
Een direct gevolg is natuurlijk dat Nederland de komende dagen (reken er op dat de gehele operatie een week zal duren) niet of slechts kort zal bestaan. Daarom raad ik iedereen aan voorbereidingen te treffen wat betreft eten, vooral als je van plan bent om te gaan vechten in een van de vele gevechten die ons land de komende dagen zullen overspoelen.

We zullen proberen de schadelijke gevolgen zo beperkt mogelijk te houden. Waarschijnlijk komt er, net als tijdens de Poolse bezetting, weer een noodhulpprogramma voor de jongere inwoners, maar daarover moet nog worden besloten.

Uiteindelijk zal deze manoeuvre dus weinig gevolgen hebben voor onze huidige toestand, zij het dat onze enige politieke partij, Verenigd Nederland, heropgericht zal moeten worden. We krijgen echter wel iets terug van Servië: een gratis militair bondgenootschap (MPP). De volledige kosten hiervan (200 Goud) zullen door de Serviërs worden gedragen. Dankzij deze MPP kunnen we ook voor de volgende maand gevechten tegemoet zien waarin de nodige ervaringspunten kunnen worden behaald.

Nieuwe ontwikkelingen zullen uiteraard worden gemeld in deze krant of in die van de president. Tevens is er een openbaar debat gaande op het forum. Let ook op de defensie-orders in deze krant.

As you may have read in the previous article, the Netherlands occupy a crucial position for the approaching Serbs. It is inevitable that we will end up in a war with our former allies. Having been put into this difficult position, our president, Garmr, has had to make a tough decision.

Battle plans
In consultation with his Serbian counterpart, it was decided to open the Netherlands to the Serbian forces. This means that the Netherlands will temporarily be wiped off the map. The president proposed to declare Serbia our Natural Enemy; if this proposal is accepted by Congress, we will automatically be at war with Serbia. Because we open the war, we will have the initiative and strike at a Serbian region first. This attack will be form only; when we lose the battle, the Serbs will have the initiative and start the invasion.

Serbian forces will take our regions one by one, starting with the Southern Netherlands, which will be under our control in a matter of hours now. When all regions have been taken, the war will automatically be closed.

After this, the Serbs will continue on to their final destination in the UK and our regions will be liberated one by one, again starting with the Southern Netherlands. This region, however, according to the agreement, will immediately be taken by Poland once again. After this transfer, the Eastern and Northern Netherlands will be restored to us.



Consequences
A direct consequence, of course, will be the periods of non-existence of the Netherlands during the coming days (the entire operation is estimated to take about a week). That’s why I’d like to advise everyone to make the necessary preparations, especially if you intend to fight in one of the many battles that we’ll be facing during the coming week.

The government will try to keep the harmful consequences within reasonable limits. Likewise as during the Polish occupation, there will probably be some form of emergency support for the younger citizens, but this has not been decided upon as of yet.

Eventually, the Serbian manoeuvre will have only limited consequences for our current situation, save the need to refound our only political party, Verenigd Nederland. There is, however, one clear compensation from the Serbian side: we will get a free MPP with Serbia. The complete sum of 200 Gold required to pay for an MPP will be provided by Serbia. With this MPP, we will surely have many battles to look forward to in the coming month; a good way to earn the experience points we all so desperately need.
