[GLD] Election results

Day 888, 02:13 Published in Netherlands Netherlands by GLD HQ

Dear all,

When I was re-elected as PP two months ago, my personal goal became to make the GLD bigger than we had ever been. Back then, we had 46 members and we were actually about to fall to the 5th place on the party-list. I think it was around october or november 2009 our member count was still around 80, so I knew the potential was there, we just had to find a way to get back up on our feet again. Now, two months later, we're at 67 members. Not bad, especially because all you guys probably know how difficult it is to grow in members significantly in a country that only gets new citizens very sparsely.

However, even with 80 members in our party, we never managed to win more than 7 seats in congress. Untill last month that is, because suddenly we managed to secure an amazing 8 seats in congress, quite a lot compared to the other, bigger parties in our countries.

Back to today. GLD has won 9 seats in congress! 9 seats, with only 67 members. Some say this is all because of the tactical voting, and although that definately plays a big role, the main reason for our success is still the fact that we have a large amount of active members who are all willing to do their fair share of work for our party. Not only have we attracted a number of experienced players lately, we also saw the arrival of some new faces and luckily enough they all expressed their wish to become active in eUNL politics, not only ingame, but also on our forums and IRC.

A big thanks to all the GLD members, new and old. We've definately shown that quality can beat quantity any given day! (i still wanna have 80 mebers again some day though 😛)

I would also like to congratulate the other parties with their election-results. I&W has won 16 seats, not at all bad and ofcourse they remain the biggest party in our country. LSD secured 10 seats, perhaps a little bit too few for a party of their size, but they definately show signs of improvement and I hope for our sake that development won't continue for too long 😉

LP's result is a bit dissappoining; only 3 seats. I don't know what happened with you guys, but I hope you can use these elections as a motivation to bounce back once more. Last, YP, 2 seats. Quite alright looking at the numbers, but the Worker's Party is now seriously breathing down their neck, so it'll be interesting to see how things will be going for both parties in the next month.

The fact that we're going to have a CP government next month means that we do not need to go through coalition-talks again. Too bad on the one hand, 'cause it was always fun, but at least now I have some spare time during the evenings after the congress-elections. My girlfriend thanks you all! 😉

On behalf of the GLD,
