[Foreign Affairs] Bulgarian AS edition

Day 4,869, 09:06 Published in Ireland Ireland by Irish Foreign Ministry

Well that was certainly an eventful couple of days for our little patch of land!

It all began, as most things seem to do around here, with one nation discarding an agreement with another nation only this time it was the United Kingdom on the receiving end.

It all began with a France (CODE) NE proposal on Bulgaria (ASTERIA) projected to take place across their new border between East Midlands (EM) and North West of England (NWoE).

Bulgaria was sitting on a x2 determination in NWoE and decided to break the connection with France by using their protected* TW with the UK to move into one of the protected* Spanish concession regions. Our UK sources told us that the UK government remained (like ourselves) neutral in regards to the CODE-ASTERIA conflict and that they were merely informed that their existing agreement was being modified and that they were in no military position to refuse or even protest if it risked the offer of financial compensation.

RWing the NWoE behind them left a lovely UK flagged wall separating them from the French. France merely began the process of tearing through that wall by DoWing the United Kingdom.

I won't deny that there was more then a few schadenfreude sniggers of the irony that the UK was being boned by their longest TW partners breaking an agreement and using them as a meat shield but once the LOL's had subsided we had to take a hard look at the map and take a serious look at Irish - UK relations.

The current relations between the UK government and Ireland can certainly be described as non-existent BUT there are still contacts between players across the battle lines that have been forged not just through the close proximity of being neighbours but by the numerous examples of players having switched between and enjoyed Irish and UK citizenship across the years.

It was judged that our national and personal interests were best served by having a UK on the map if possible and able to enjoy the full fruits of that existence i.e Having a Congress, which is a BIG thing in the UK!

Therefore we hatched a plan to potentially keep the UK on the map and ourselves and every other neutral in the area away from the CODE-ASTERIA fracas.

Ireland NE'd the UK to enable us to take NWoE whilst the UK's much delayed RW in Wales would see them no longer being the meat in the Franco-Bulgarian sandwich but moved and walled off to the side.

That's when things got interesting!

Using their initiative they gained over the UK when they took North East of England, Bulgaria 'attacked' the NWoE region they had just vacated.

Ireland made a couple of assumptions at this point;

1. They had to attack somewhere and probably wanted to avoid the Spanish Iron region.

2. They wouldn't want to get back a super high determination region and renew their border with France

3. ASTERIA and her dependents had some very important battles to fight so they weren't going to waste damage here.

But they decided to make a fight of it and to protest their indignation they issued an AS on Ireland that was quickly countered.

NOTE: Irelands AS was passing but Bulgaria's had priority

Brief talks were convened where Bulgaria demanded Ireland cease and desist and Ireland attempted to explain that Bulgaria was a long way from home and that we wanted no part of their war that destabilized the local area in which we locals had a greater stake in.

As it became clear that they were itching to use their AS on Ireland, we had to make rapid adjustments to our ongoing wars - Special thanks to all our partners - the overiding result of which was we had to reverse the UK lead in Wales and crush the RW there. Thus the oblique Bulgarian aim of getting UK wipe looks likely to succeed

So we entered the day awaiting the Bulgarian landing in one of our core regions. Instead they decided to place themselves in the PACIFICA TW area in Finland!!!

So further updates as soon as we can work out the logic behind Bulgaria wasting damage, an AS (Which is actually quite flattering for a nation like Ireland) and trying to inveigle us into joining their side against CODE whilst throwing minor nations under the bus and trying to get secret NAPs worked out that'd abandon us if were were crazy enough, let alone interested in signing up to be their vassal.
