[eSA] The Long Kiss Goodnight

Day 905, 04:29 Published in South Africa Greece by Greek Ministry of Health
In early March, PTOers cleared the way for eBrazil and eArgentina to occupy all South African regions. Three months later, on day 905 of the New World, Limpopo was liberated as the last of the original eSA regions to be restored. Here is a recap on this part of The Great Southern War.

The occupation of eSA
Less than a week after Operation Landlock, Phoenix collaborator RonelI won the March presidential elections. No sooner the elections were over before the new president attacked Argentina in Western Cape followed by an immediate retreat.

It may seem that someone had forgotten to read up on "PTO for Dummies", and thought this attack would activate Argentina's MPPs. The next attack/retreat on Pampas remedied this however, as did the attack on Rio Grande do Sul bringing Brazil and their 11 MPPs into battle. By doing a bit of region swapping, Brazil and Argentina positioned themselves and managed to more or less stand their ground over the next couple of weeks.

The important first step of liberation
An important first step was to make sure at least one original region was under national control in time for the March 25 congressional elections. If all of eSA had been occupied, no congress could have been elected. This would lead to a very unstable political situation once one or more regions were restored, since citizenship requests would have been granted automatically until a new congress was in place. This could leave South Africa to anarchy for a long period of time.

Two days prior to the elections, a resistance war was launched in Northern Cape against the Brazilian occupation. During most of the battle, this would appear to be like most of the previous resistance wars, and Brazil controlled the situation until about half an hour remained. Taken by surprise, the occupants could do little but watch as their defence was annhilated, with heavy damage dealt, mainly by US and Croatian forces. The Long Kiss Goodnight was initiated.

The collapse of an occupation
During the next week, occupant damage was drained through a number of resistance wars until the election of a new president also allowed eSA to engage in regular war towards the enemies, with renewed MPPs activated. In a swift campaign, allied forces assisted South Africa in winning the battles of North West Province, Eastern Cape, Free State, KwaZulu Natal and Gauteng. By mid-April, eBrazil was evicted from South Africa in the combined resistance war and nations battle of Mpumalanga.

Goodnight, Argentina
South Africa had since long been off the Phoenix radar, and Brazil and Argentina had to fight for their possessions more or less alone. Although it came as no suprise that eSA's friends would stand by their ally until all original regions were restored, the battle for Limpopo turned out to be something of an anti climax after all these weeks of deployed strategy and interesting warfare. With little enthusiasm left in the enemy camps, we didn't get a grand final battle kicking Phoenix out of Africa with a resounding boom. Instead, we walked quietly into the bedroom, tucked Argentina in and kissed her goodnight.

Again, all doubts towards the efficiency and stamina of EDEN and our competent allies are proven wrong. There will be lullabies sung in other Phoenix bedrooms before long. South Africa has risen out of the ashes the wing clipped bird herself struggles to crawl out of, and now has control over all her regions and resources.

United we stand, divided we fall!
Hail EDEN! Hail eSA!
