[Erepublik Jobs] What do you think?
Mike Ontry
Anyone remember the Erepublik Jobs website?
This site is not getting any usage at all. There is an occasional person that posts a job on it but the problem is that no one visits the site to actually see it!
So I would like to ask the community what the future of this site should be.
If you've never heard of this site before what's your opinion of it?
Should I scrap it and take it offline?
Do you all have any suggestions to make it better and/or more user friendly?
Does anyone want to join the team to help get more users to the site?
Just like the day I thought up the idea of the site and set out to make it a reality, I still believe this site is a great idea and could be a valuable tool for everyone.
So please let me know what you think!
Either in the comments or send me a PM.
I would really like the site to stay online and be useful. If you agree please consider joining the Erepublik Jobs team!

Don't scrap it just yet. Perhaps people might be able to post community-style jobs - ie. you work for me, and I pay you some small amount of cash + weps/food on a daily/weekly base, or something like that. There is no need for regular job advertisements, but this kind could work. Also "make my avatar/banner/... look nice" is a kind of eRep task that could find it's way to your site.
But you'd need some marketing to make it work, of course. Since I have eSerbian CS, I could publish an article or two about your site there, when the ideas on how to make it work more efficient are formed.
Is the site on some free hosting or are you loosing RL money for keeping it up?
This is the main goal of this site. To be a place to find help with a certain task. Then also it would be a place to find some extra income.
I would appreciate some articles published in other countries. Sounds like something I could post as a job on the site! 😛
Nope not losing anything by keeping it up. Just wondering if it's worth the time anymore..
No problem, I'll publish an article or two in eSerbia. It would be nice if you could find some other people to publish in ePoland, eBrazil, eGreece, eArg and other larger countries so that the articles go out at the same time.
I had another idea - an add-the-middleman style black market. That kind of black market would be scam-proof, so people might actually use it. The idea is to donate what you are selling to some trusted account (yours, for example), and then, when the buyers are found they donate money to you, you donate the goods to them and forward the money (minus some fee) to the seller. Although that would require a lot of work from your part (or from your assistants').
The only thing I worry about with this is if the middleman is used to move illegally obtained items and money. The middleman could end up being banned..
Well, yes, that could be an issue.
Perhaps a delay of 24-48 hours between receiving the goods and money and delivery of the goods? That would allow time for a possible theft to be found out, and looted items could then be returned instead of passed forward.
You'd also want to watch out that you weren't used by multies wanting to trade between their accounts.
Yes multies are the main cause of concern on using a middleman.

Its a good idea, just needs publicity.
I like the idea, but I'm not sure how big a market there is for it. I'd agree with Hostilian that some definite marketing would be needed, including players in other large countries willing to put marketing shouts out for you.
I had not previously heard of the site.
yup, me neither.
I'm super lazy my friend. Now that all the yelling and fussing are over maybe I could help you. Please put together a brief pitch for the site and I'll PM it around.
I think its a great site, but there aren't enough active people to really advocate for it. In V1 this would have been a huge hit, now most of the active people left are too apathetic to really care about most things. Still, if you could find enough people to publish/shout articles about it then you might be able to get it going. What you need is a concerted campaign to raise awareness of the site internationally. In these days I'm not sure such a thing is possible.
