[ePT news] Who is a hacker?

Day 3,095, 19:14 Published in Greece Greece by Jimkats1

As in Greece's Top 5 articles, there is only 1 article, I decided to write another random article just to fill the space a bit, within few minutes :d.

So we will see who is a hacker, according to this article from K4linux : Linux Tutorials.

A hacker is someone who seeks and exploits weaknesses in a computer system or computer network.
Hackers may be motivated by a multitude of reasons, such as profit, protest, or challenge.
Another definition of Hacker:
A computer hacker is someone who lives and breathes computers, who knows all about computers, who can get a computer to do anything.

Equally important, though, is the hacker's attitude. Computer programming must be a hobby, something done for fun, not out of a sense of duty or for the money.
(It's Okay to make money, but that can't be the reason for hacking.)

That's what pretty much happens even at eRepublik and most times at players' accounts.

There are several techniques to find the password and the e-mail of a player's account, but I'm not gonna discuss them, as that would be against the eRepublik Laws.

So, I'm gonna tell you only how to protect your account:

- The email you use as login, must be kept secret as much as possible from other players (inside eRepublik's site and as similar sites, such as forums), because if a hacker knows your login email, then he will have less difficulty to access your account.

- The password must be complicated and by that, it doesn't mean random characters (as if it was a random generated string), but it could even be simple words, such as "localadmin", but written with multi-characters, such as "L0caLaDM1n" or "10cA!AdM1n" or whatever. That way, it will be difficult for the hacker to find your password.

Remember. No system is completely safe from hackers, but it's really hard, expensive and power consuming to breach the security of a system, that's why it's not so often issue in the Internet.
