This is a very nice article 🙂

However, as a GIS-student I have to comment on the first map..

It is very hard to make any conclusions from, what I think you should have done is this:

Pick 3 colours; 1 for EDEN/Terra, 1 for ONE and 1 for Neutral..
That way, with only 3 colours, the resulting map would show the shift of power throughout a month..
That would be a very interesting map, and one that could spark a discussion! 🙂

Not that the current one isn't interesting, it's just very hard to actually make any sense from (especially in Europe, where regions and countries are small and tend to shift owner very often)

Muy buen artículo, y eso que sólo fue a punta de imágenes, pero como bien dice la expresión: una imagen vale más que mil palabras... y ni hablar de una animación, : P

@Teutonic: Weren't you officially on EDEN?, that is what I understood from Mav's article some time ago, but well, I could be wrong and he was just making an official pro-EDEN statement, : P

And about Stente's suggestion, I would likely agree with him, although I think you should do it has a separate gifmap, to watch the world at large changing through a month is a nice effect, and for the european situation, well, the later zoomed animation accomplishes that already, ; )..., and possibly I'm just saying what you already thought, since supposedly you were going to change a bit the article, : )

The only thing that was missing is an explanation of Europe's map, maybe you could had just highlighted the fronts, to avoid going in to excesive detail, considerating how things usually go there, : P
