This article is an unofficial response to PigInZen's article.It represents my own views on the issue.
Ok, now that we've got that out of the way. The eUnited States of America seem to have take offense to the lacking EDEN presence in the battle for Limpopo. Totally understandable, considering the shit-storm that they have just gone through after the battles of Sindh fiasco. I would like to point out a few differences though. First off a quote from Bogdan_L:

So yeah, we were there. We don't have the same economic prowess you guys do. I apologize for that. I figure that Croatia carving their way towards Asia would have relieved the pressure on the Limpopo RW though, just saying (especially since they were going in with a decent set of MPPs, giving civilians a chance to fight in meaningful battles, while the mobile forces would have been able to focus on...RWs for example). Just a playful thought though.
Also, the fact remains that not finishing up Slovenia means having loose ends in Europe, which in turn means that the situation in Europe is far from being settled, adding a risk to the movement of troops overseas.
Now, on to the real issue(or what I believe to be the real issue). eSouth Africa not having Limpopo returned to them before congress elections.
I will present a scenario to you, please bear with me:
Let's say that EDEN committed their full force to the RW in Limpopo. Tanks rolled in from the 4 corners of the world, treasuries were emptied and eSouth Africa came back on the map, with a soon-to-be titanium region no less. Yay! Now, in case you didn't know the current eSouth African president is hostile to EDEN. Yes, I know he/she can't retreat the last region without getting permanently banned in the process(he/she is sitting at 4.5 FPs, so any cock-up on his/her part would mean an easier job for EDEN). But he/she CAN attack a useless,low-population region, eBrazil/eArgentina CAN retreat it, after that ceding Limpopo back to Argentina would be a piece of cake. It would be an epic win on EDEN's side. For a few minutes(kinda like Sindh all over again, eh?).
I can understand the eUS' frustration (as an eRomanian citizen I've been there). I really can. BUT, the eUS should also consider the fact that the current PTOers of eSouth Africa have the numbers to be a royal pain in the backside for weeks to come. An easy way out of this would be open citizenship that would give both PHX and EDEN a chance at securing eSouth Africa. Also having the RL Saffers on our side would help. The chans can spout a limited number of people, whereas EDEN(I hope) can bring support in the thousands (Polish babies, anyone).
So yeah, that's my 2cents' worth of opinion in this matter. Feel free to flame.

Let EDEN tank in SA, it will be funny to see them do another Sindh. If SA is back, the channers stay in control, and can keep Eastern Cape forever, retreating all other regions 🙂

1. I'm a pragmatist. I don't think raep applies to eRepublik. It's a matter of choosing a group and sticking with it.

Uh, that just opens the floodgates wide for a permanent PTO of South Africa by either Phoenix or EDEN. South Africa will become either a permanent Peru or a permanent puppet to Phoenix. The RL South Africans (and the eSouth Africans!) will never regain control of the country unless a baby boom should occur. :/
Brendan: Having 3 regions of one of the most important raw materials in the game(military-wise) would have made eS.A a target anyway. The open citizenship gives EDEN a fighting chance at helping eSouth Africans out.

It certainly made us a military target, but at the least SA could govern itself. Now... it's still a military target, but cannot govern itself. :/

The PTO was discussed with SA leadership....they had the votes to govern 1 region short term and a solid plan mid term, it would have worked.
And yes we tanked. But go to Zhunder and you will that Phx outtanked us by a wide margin, they rarely do that. Ask yourself why--maybe they knew how vital that battle was. Iron is the past, titanium the future.

Unfortunately, most eSouth Africans downplay the chans' knowledge of game mechanics. Furthermore, the exact number of hostile citizens holding eSouth African citizenship is unknown.
NXNW, yes, america is the greatest in everything (that involves a credit card - we prefer RL to spend our money).
and yes, i have a bone to pick with you (as a natinon): more money doesn't mean more brains or the right to treat badly anybody you want to.

USA isn't even in the top 10 eNations in terms of GDP. Poland, Spain, and Croatia all are though. Perhaps you should stop bringing you RL bias into the picture and actually bother looking up some statistics.

Now I'm not a financial genius, but from what I've heard the formula for calculating a country's GDP is wrong, inaccurate and totally unreliable. I wouldn't trust it too much.
But then again, if you consider my writing to be biased, then I can't do much in terms of proving my points(most of which you just gracefully ignored btw xD).
As for the economic prowess, I was talking in terms of military funding(as this is a military issue) and as a former member of the eUS military and a current member of the eRomanian one, I can assure you that you get a lot more than us🙂.
Loyal South Africans have more votes than channers. At least they did on the last elections. So free citizenship won't help EDEN and especially won't help South Africans. EDEN might secure SA later, but that probably won't be the old SA any more but more like an EDEN client state. Maybe those are the plans.

Plus, eArgentina is magically able to have a lot of weak characters, and I mean a LOT. It's strange. I wonder how they get so many? Oh well, I'm sure the means are entirely legitimate.
Great article. It's good to see it from another side. After losing eSouth Africa, it's very hard for me to just accept it. We were greatly overpowered, and it's really easy for me to just say, "EDEN! Where were you?!?!" EDEN was the only salvation for eSouth Africa. And either EDEN wasn't enough, or it didn't have enough backing. I'm not sure which one it is, though, and I'm sure the answer will be disputed.
We all fought bravely out there. It's a shame eSouth Africa was lost, though. Us Saffers got a long road ahead of us. I hope there is indeed light at the end of the tunnel, because our situation isn't looking very good at all.

This is exactly what I'm talking about Siroe. And it's not just Argie and Brazzie. It's also the entirety of Phoenix.
Even if SA is saved, what good is it for its true citizens? We'll either be an EDEN or a PHOENIX puppet state. I do not want to see SA becoming another Peru.
A fair and reasoned response. A couple things though. First, the US military is better funded because we pay twice the taxes you do. Most of us do not use RL money for gold, and the surveys were broken two months ago for the vast majority of us.
My only real issue is that it seems like RL anti-americanism feeds into this trolling attitude that we see attacking our media. That is a sure way to turn popular opinion against EDEN. Allies mess up on all sides, and people need to learn to forgive. At the same time though, SA is the key to v2 economics and war, and not prioritizing it is very short-sighted.
