Hello eIrish New Citizens,

Although eRepublik is primarily a community based military strategy game, there are other pursuits such as journalism, business, and politics, which can be mastered. These top ten tips will give you a solid base from which to grow your influence in the community as well as your bank account.

1. Check Out the eIrish New Citizens Portal
If you haven't already, check out the New Citizens Portal, and take advantage of our national New Citizens programs. Here you can get your hands on some free stuff, join the eIrish Bootcamp Unit, and get advice on which missions are worth doing.

On top of that, the Elite Soldiers program and Guerilla Fights tutorial will teach you how to avoid falling into the many traps eRepublik has set, and learn how to become a super strong soldier, without needing to buy gold.

2. Build Strength & Avoid Gaining Xp
We'll keep this tip short, but if you want to learn more about it, then follow tip one above, and find the Elite Soldiers program for an in-depth explanation.

Essentially: Do not fight in battles until your strength is above 10,000+ strength.
More if you can wait!

Simply train your strength each day, and go about your other business like working and socializing. The long you can wait before fighting the better. When you fight it adds xp to your citizen, which increases your level and pushes you toward higher divisions.

It is extremely important that you develop your strength to be competitive in your division.

Otherwise you will become so underpowered that you will be a practically unable to contribute to battles.

3. Save Gold and Energy Bars
When you are a new citizen, you will be able to advance through the first several experience levels and ranks very quickly, along with many beginner missions. This means that new citizens get a lot of gold and energy bars in the beginning.

Be aware that gold and energy bars are awarded much less frequently as you progress, and that you should be careful to save them and not waste them as you realize their real value later on.

Energy Bars can be consumed like food to restore 100 health when you have no food in storage or are out of recoverable health for the day.

Gold is the currency used for buying features and products from eRepublik, such as training grounds, special items, newspapers, political parties, and military units. It can also be traded on the monetary market for international player to player currency (shown as IEP here in eIreland).

It is not advised to use gold to buy health or energy bars.

4. Invest in Training Grounds
When you have a good amount of gold, one of the first things you might want to do is invest in your free training facility. This is the one training facility that allows you to train for 0 gold. As a new citizen you can do this once a day and gain 5 strength every use.

1st Upgrade - For 20 more gold – gain a total 10 strength every use.

Now this isn’t cheap at all, but as far as gold goes it’s one of the best investments you can make in yourself. Once you have the gold to do it, you will be gaining that 5 extra strength every day for the rest of your eLife. Eventually this upgrade pays for itself. Later you can do even more upgrades to this free training centre.

5. Be Social
No matter how social you actually feel, there are a number of social first steps that will get you on the right track to enjoying your experience on eRep.

-Make Friends. Go around to the profiles of other eIrish players who are active and send them a friend request. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never met them or don’t know who they are. Do it anyway to as may citizens as you can. This will let you see their shouts on the shout feed and let them see yours. Check out articles and organizations to find new friends.

-Read, Vote, and Subscribe Check out articles in your news feed and get involved in the media. Leaving comments is a great way to get in on discussions and become well known.

-Make shouts, read shouts, reply. Getting involved on the shout feed to your right on the main screen gets you right into the mainstream of events and introduces you to other citizens.

-Reply to private messages. It doesn’t matter much how you reply just be responsive and show that you’re alive on the other end.

-Be friendly and willing to learn. This will help you to make good first impressions, and you will actually learn a lot about how to play.

6. Start A Newspaper
The core feature of eRepublik is the community. As we said before, introducing yourself to other players is vitally important. A newspaper will cost you 2 gold, but is a good investment. Use your first article to introduce yourself to the community and share your first views. Some good advice for a first article is to come across as willing to learn, energetic, and friendly – this will be most likely to get a positive reaction from the community. Don’t worry too much about the quality of your writing or the length of your articles – older citizens are always happy to be introduced to a new active citizen and they will be very welcoming as long as you come across as friendly.

7. Guerilla Fights
When you get bored of training and not fighting, but have built up a little bit of strength and some cash, Guerilla Fights are a safe way to participate in battles without adding experience points and risking going up a division.

Guerilla Fights allow you to face an opponent one on one versus a battle, and will add damage to your side in the battle, without many of the drawbacks to a regular fight click.

The only downsides are that new citizens are still at a disadvantage because of strength factors, and that in order to be competitive you will have to buy equipment to fight, meaning that it will cost extra currency.

8. Wait for Upgrade Sales
Every few months eRepublik offers discounts on the cost of upgrades. These discounts are usually a significant percentage, and so patience pays off. As alway save that gold! And this a smart way to do it.

9. Take It Easy & Think Critically
This tip has to do with attitude, and how to start interactions with other players.

Taking it Easy: The main advantage of eRepublik is that it’s a casual gaming experience. There are two good reasons to take it easy:

1. It will be more enjoyable
2. It’s a better strategy

First, like any community online, eRepublik has its share of trolls, flamers, and internet warriors. Don’t take them seriously and you’ll enjoy your experience much more.

Thinking Critically: eIreland is a very political community, and no matter what anyone tells you, we all have our own beliefs and biases. Once you look like you’re going to be a successful new citizen, you might find yourself becoming a hot commodity for military units and political parties.

Take everything you hear with a grain of salt, and do a little research on your own before you commit yourself. Be polite, but stay open minded and independent. If you do your best to play fair and do what’s right for eIreland, you’ll be well on your way to being exactly the kind of new player that eIreland needs.

10. Forget Everything You Thought You Knew
When you’re trying to figure out the game a good rule is to forget everything you thought you new about the economy, military, and politics. In eRepublik these three aspects are heavily interconnected as this is primarily a military game – but none of these three modules run anything like real life. Just be very careful of trying to mix concepts from RL and the game - 99 times out of 100, ideas from real life will be inapplicable to the game without a ton of tuning and adjustment.

That's all folks.
