[eBenelux] Unification of the Netherlands and Belgium!

Hello, my fellow Dutch, Belgian and maybe even some Luxembourgish players!

Recently, our friend Kordak who moved to Belgium published an article about the possibilities to reunite eNL and eBelgium. There was a group of people that were in favor, and a group that totally wasn't. Now, for my first ever article, I want to review this concept from a Dutch point of view and see if this could possibly work, and if it has any advantages.

General statistics

For the first part of my research I went to have a look at influence, territory and population.

As we can all see, Belgium has the most influence and has done the most damage in both the last week and month. But overall, the differences aren't that big and, for instance, both our influences combined would reach about the same amount as Belarus.

Actually, there is nothing much to say about this image. Nothing really interesting, except for the fact that the amount of citizens doubles here.

This is some current information. Of course, with our 2 countries combined in one eBenelux we could possibly gain 2 Dutch core regions. Kordak's plan also involves North Calais to be one of the possible regions to own, which is a point of discussion as it is a core region of neither of us, but one of France’s.

Military

The Netherlands has significantly more damage in the 1st division. This doesn't mean it's only an advantage for Belgium, since our influence also increases.

The influences of both countries are quite equal here. Still, Belgium has a little more, but with the 2 countries combined we can reach the double amount of influence dealt.

In the 3rd division, the Netherlands has nearly double the amount of influence. Combined, we nearly reach 30 mio. influence.

Belgium has a little more influence in the 4th division. Combined nearly 250 mio. influence.

Overall, our military power increases quite a lot. According to Kordak, if we set up bigger communes, those can make profit and give more weapons to the workers, and that way our military power increases even more.

Economy

Kordak also tells us that if we merge our treasures, the economy will get a serious boost, because the taxes can be lowered which will make people buy and import more products. There will be more transactions and still a serious income, and the only thing that has to be done is maintain this trade. A possible increase of the income may occur as well.

Problems

To successfully unify our countries to form an eBenelux, we will have to overcome some problems and avoid chaos among the population.

MoU or MoR – Ministry of (Re)unification

Kordak's plan involves a MoU or MoR. This ministry will make sure that during the unification, the treasure will be merged successfully, eDutch citizens will get highest priority to get Belgian citizenship, et cetera.

Law book

The MoU/MoR will have to find laws that are (nearly) equal in both countries that can continue to exist in the eBenelux. The laws also have to be written all over and accepted by congress again.

Forum

We have to select one officially recognized forum for the eBenelux. In my personal opinion, selecting and renaming the current eBelgian forum is the best option, simply because Belgium is on the map and the Dutch will have to move to Belgium.

Another option is to make an all-new forum, to avoid discussion and maybe boycotting. Which I would prefer over selecting one of the two existing forums.

Alliances

Currently, the Netherlands is in a discussion whether to join Asgard or not, some are even talking about a new alliance, others want to wait and stay neutral for a while.

Belgium is a member of CoT, but since talks about a new alliance have started, it might be an option to consider joining that alliance, but that is not likely to happen in the near future. This is a point of discussion, and might need a referendum to come to a decision.

In short; there are some problems which can be solved easily by using referendums, and the advantages are quite stunning at some points. And, Luxembourgish players will finally have a rightful home!

Since a unification is quite of a big change, takes a lot of time and effort and the process might be quite complicated, I will possibly write another article about a possible eBenelux. If you want me to cover some aspects in the next article, you can request that in the comment section and I will try to cover those as well.

Hail Luxembourg!
Hail Belgium!
Hail the Netherlands!
Hail the Benelux!
