[eBE] shadowukcs manifesto part 1/2

Dear citizens of eBelgium, Dear friends,


I know I promised you a manifesto a few days ago and I know I promised a large manifesto in multiple parts. However, a slight underestimation of my exams (I found out this weekend that we do not have 1 syllabus for “international real estate”, but 2, a second one that I spend half a day looking for to then discover its monstrously thick ) forced to me to spend my weekend behind my desk instead of my laptop. Therefore, with my sincerest apologies: I present you, my shortened manifesto, which I will release in 3 parts (Foreign affairs and military affairs will be posted tomorrow):

About myself and my motivations to run

Allow me to present myself. My name is shadowukcs, RL Belgian and I started out on day 22. This has given me a broad experience on nearly all matters in erepublik. I’ve witnessed nearly all important events this game has ever had (the first war, the creating of the first alliances, the dioist empire, the fall of alliances,…) and often played key-roles in those events as well. My experiences in this game overstretch nearly everything that is doable in this game. I’ve been president in eUK, been in congress 7 or 8 times, been mayor (in beta, before there even where congressmen), I’ve been Minister of Defence, minister of foreign affairs, ambassador, member of the House of Lords in eUK, party president, party founder, Mi-6 (intelligence) founder, I’ve co-founded 2 major alliances, been involved in a third, lead a major alliance, I’ve been eUK para, US marine and soldier in EDEN mobile squad,…. I could go on like that for quite a while, but my past experiences are not what matter at this point. What matters is what I want to do with Belgium in the upcoming month, if I get elected.

My main goal to run for Belgian president is because I see that we are moving backwards. Things are getting pretty dull and boring. Don’t get me wrong, I still think eBelgium is an awesome eNation, but I’m getting the feeling we’re falling in a routine. We need some new things to shake ppl up and get some mobility in this country again. We need to bring more fun to this game and to this nation. FUN is the keyword here. It is a game after all and discussing taxes does get boring after a few months. This, and this alone is my main reason to run for president. This is my promise to you, dear citizens: If elected, I will do everything I can, to give you all a better gaming experience. And I truly hope you are all with me on that.

Internal affairs


Having been a congressman for several constructive months in eBE, I feel that congress has been left in the dark a fair few times in the past. Congress, in my opinion, is the heart of eBelgium. Congress is where the important decisions should be made. A president doing things without congress approval, is a dictator. Which is why I want to involve congress and every Belgian citizen (since we have a congress that’s open to all citizens) into my policy. The only way to get players to stay in Belgium is by involving them. Don’t leave them in the dark, don’t push them out. Hear them out and listen to their opinion. Then base your policy on those opinions.

Congress needs more power and more citizens need to become involved.

Fun



Fun is one of the pillars of my campaign. The ministry of Entertainment (MoE) must expand its activities. Fun and entertainment are THE most important tools of player retention. We want to involve more ppl in it. So far the MoE has made a few good threads on the forum, but I intent to take it further. I want to see more interaction with the citizens. More articles in our newspaper that spark debates. More debates about RL issues, philosophical issues, and matters of our everyday lives. I want to bring more jokes and funny vids to both our forum and our news section. I want to see how we can further promote good journalism and see how can expand the media awards…. I will be happy when I see that ppl from all over eWorld will visit our media page because it’s more interesting than their own. This is my goal.

I’m also planning to reintroduce the lottery or raffle. It’s a fun tool and with a small government donation (5G or something), it’s a great way to get new players involved.



Another thing I want to introduce is royalty. No, don’t get me wrong. Not the stiff, elitist and dull royalty you see on IRL TV. I want to introduce royalty in a fun and exciting way that will certainly make ppl laugh. How I will do this must remain a secret. I can’t tell you yet as it would spoil the fun and the surprise so I guess you’ll just have to take my word for it. Rest assured tho, It will be great.

Player retention

Player retention (or making sure that new players stay around) is an important part. As already stated above, I want to do this by introducing many activities where new players can take part in. I also want to bring more players to eBE. “How do we get these new players?” some of you may think. “We have already tried promoting this game so many times”. Yes, this is true. In IRL Belgium ppl are getting a headache of our trouble politics so it’s hard to find someone who wants to meddle with e-politics after they come home from work/school. My plan however is to get ppl from other for a in e-republik. Look around you, we are a small nation. We have always room for new ministers, military officers and congressmen. Countries like Poland, Indonesia, Serbia, Brazil,… They have one baby boom after another but they have difficulties retaining their players. Why? New players join and they are only One of the hundreds of active players in their respective country. Here, they can be something else. Here they can be congressman or PP in a month, here they can become minister or even president. I want to promote our country on other e-fora. I want to attract players from other nations to eBE. We already have one of the most multi-cultural societies in e-world. Lets improve this asset.



Finance

The MoF and ministery of State companies have done a great job so far. Bokie and his team are geniuses. This despite the fact that the admins are interfering in our economy by printing illegal currency to promote gold buying. I haven’t asked him, but I hope he will continue his work if I get elected. These are troubled financial times, but I’m confident that if there is one man that can pull us trough this mess, it’s Bokie.





This is the first part of my manifesto. I will post up the second part (which includes the military and foreign affairs) tomorrow. For now I hope you enjoyed reading this and managed to form an idea of the policy I wish to follow. And hopefully I can count on your vote in 2 days.
