[eBE] Mid-term Review
Azor Ahai Reborn
[eBE] Mid-term Review
Dear fellow citizens,
Today is an import day as we are voting to renew our Congress. May your vote be wise.
But i have also some important news and updates to share with you.
I have been elected 20 days ago, and my government and I have worked hard on some different issues.
We had four priorities, and it could be interesting to see what have already been completed or not :
- to continue our diplomatic work with our different partners in the eWorld.
- to strengthen our military.
- to launch the debate and the vote on the revision of the Constitution.
- to improve our welfare program for new citizens.
In the last 9 months, our country have only signed few mpp's, but we are currently voting a third one in a row. That's really something very important for our country, and to keep active our citizens. Mutual Protection Pact is they way for Belgium to get active on different wars, and to provide fights, xp, and entertainment to eBelgians. The main issue our country faced about MPP is the cost of these pacts. Each country have to pay 100 gold to sign it, and that's really a lot for a small country like ours. And as our country is currently so small (in terms of cititzens and damages we can deal for our allies), signing a mpp is not an interesting option for the main countries of the eWorld, and that's why we had to pay 200 gold for our last two mpp, with Russia and Serbia. As Belgium is a neutral country, and not a member of any alliances (PHX/Eden), it's very important to not let our country cut from the rest of the eWorld and to remain very active "behind the scene". I have to say that it's something i like, and where i get some experience, thanks to my various terms of President or of representative in alliances. And that's maybe why you elected me as President. After two mpp signing with phx countries, our congress have asked me to search a mpp with a eden country, and after negociating with some countries, a deal have been concluded with eUSA on the base of 120 gold for Belgium and 80 for them. This is not yet the perfect deal, but it's a big difference from the 200 gold of our last mpps. eBelgium is searching the cheapest mpp with the most possibilities of wars, and is not seeking to enter in any alliance. Our war damages is quite low, and our country is not yet able to make the difference on the war field. But our international credibility is rising, and i can tell you today, that we will sign a 100/100 mpp next month. I have already received some mpp offers and i will stay focus on this objective : fair deal and cheap wars for Belgium. I would like also to remember that Congress Gold Donations are very important for eBelgium, as we don't earn enough with taxes to pay for our mpp, and that i thanks already all congressmen for donating their congress gold to our national bank.
Our military was also one of my top priority for this term, but i have no others credits that to have appointed Vulcain as Minister of Defense. Vulcain is currently doing an amazing job at the head of our defense department, and the results of his work can already be seen on the war fields. Our military was almost non-existent, and he have rebuild it from the base. He have started by analyzised the situation, by firing inactive soldiers, re-creating the platoons, launching a new recruitment, publishing daily orders, creating army rules, set up a damage board, working on our new army avatar, supplying soldiers with weapons and food, working on a monthly budget and so on... A huge work has to be done, and is currently done by our MoD. If you are interesting in becoming part of the army, i invite you to contact Vulcain. Our army is also searching new higly committed Officers. I also want to invite our future Congressmen to be support the work done at the Defense, and to underline the great importance it have for our country. A monthly budget is currently being studied by our cabinet and will have to be voted in the next weeks, and i hope that it will get largely approved.
The revision of the Constitution... It's not a very sexy priority, but it's an important step for eBelgium. The revision of the Constitution have already started last month, with the creation of a consitutionnal work group. Respected citizens have been asked by the President of Belgium to be part of a task force with the aim of preparing the work for a revision of the Constitution. LeValeureuxLiegeois, Citizen Robespierre, and Aldous Zamiatin have accepted, and their work have been presented to the Congress five days after my election, the 10 of November. The debate have been launched, but we can't say that our fellow Congressmen have been charmed by the work done, or maybe it wasn't just one of their top priority. Whatever, a new Congress will be elected, and i will ask each party President to invite their congressmembers to participate in this debate, and to name one of them as party leader for the revision of the Constitution. A large part of the work have already be done, but now we have to conluded it !
And the last point of the four main priorities i had for this term was to improve our welfare programs for new citizens. We get some difficulties at the start of the month because the erepublik api was broken, and thus our babytool was not working. This tool, made by Raidoh, a german citizen, allow us to follow each new players who start the game in Belgium, and to send them directly a message with some important guidelines. Ernest Bogdansson is the head of this program, and while his work is in the shadow, it's a very important work for eBelgium. Victoria Diets, the new deputy Minister, have also set up the Belgian Librairy, a very usefull place for every Belgians to get important informations on eBelgium. That being said, we didn't directly improve the welfare program, with raising a new budget for example, or giving support to some citizens initiatives. We are still working on it but we have to do it smartly : eBelgium is not very rich, and we have to put some priority. The difficulty with programs for new citizens, is that a large part of the food offered, or the support given, is lost when the new citizen decided to stop playing. How can we keep this citizens playing ? It's all the question. And you have maybe saw it, but we try to answer it by being creative : a new welcome message have been voted, with images, banners, and direct links to make it easyer for the new citizens. And i would like to thanks M.Leviathin for the design of the banners. And if you are good in photoshop, you are welcome to give your help too !
That was an update on our main priorities, but let me talk now of a new program launched by our government this month : The Belgian Journalism Award ! It's a very interesting program that we have created to boost our media scene and to give a reward to our best journalists ! I won't talk more of it, i just invite you to click on the image to know more about it !
To conclude this article, i will confirm what many of you have already heard, an eRepublik Council have been created lately. The eRepublik Council is a place where all Presidents can meet eachothers, and most important, can talks with the Admins. It's a huge improvement in terms of communications, and it's a big opportunity for small countries to be heard. I give a very high importance to this council, and i will do my best to represent the interests of eBelgium. Two meeting have been already organised with the eRepublik team, and have been quite interesting on differents points. I'm not yet authorized to tell you the subjects of this meeting, but you can find already some informations on the eRepublik forums. Some good news are coming for eBelgium, and some not so good news too. Anyway, a lot of feedbacks/requests have been given, and we will see in the future if the Admins will have listened us or not.
edit :
The access to our national organization Citizen.info was lost 3 months ago, between the Presidence of Theneka and MaryamQ. This organization host an important newspaper, and was used to provide help/food/mt to new citizens. I was working on this issue since few weeks and I'm glad to announce that it have been solved today : we have the access back !

Can't say that is impressing...
Also don't see why this has to be posted during the elections.
Great article, voted
\o/ Long Live Thomas : 3.
A Vegan,sometimes you should think more before saying enormous bullshit.
Voted, Sub for more than a year 😃
Bullshit?
A newspaper article that gets 4 times more votes than any other newspaper in eBelgium but only gets 3, yes that is right 3 comments.
78 votes and 3 support comments sounds more like a joke than anything else.
Great article. I have to say, those banners really make it stand out. ::conceite😛:
Nice update, ThomasRed! And yes, M.Leviathin, those banners are great! 😉 This was an ambitious program, and it is good to see so much progress, thanks to the hard work of so many.
Good article, only add more picutres in it, now it is just reading a wall of words 😃
+1, but remember we appreciate the update 😉
Keep on going like this!
And A Vegan, you're pathetic acting like you do now
Vegan, I'm not sure what your objection is. Bad articles will get few votes and many comments. People show they like an article with their votes - did I really need to comment that I voted, too? It was pointless but I wanted to show my support for Thomas and prove your comment wrong.
Good work, Thomas, hope you consider another term.
Good article mister president.
@stonix @Hugo Lilly
Mind you I didn't attack the article. I just find it surrealistic that it's getting so many votes and so little comments. Even at good articles most voters reply with voted or something similar.
I find it weird that all ThomasRed articles get high in votes but always very low in comments. I am really sorry if I can't question this.
Forgot we have limited freedom of speech in eBelgium...
Nothing strange about it, A Vegan - orgs can vote too (; Personally, I don't think there's anything wrong about it, especially since it's for a message from our President, which should reach as many eBelgian citizens as possible.
The update is very good and shows that our community is in motion, with a lot of active and inspired people who want to help our country grow and prosper - I salute all of you!
*lifting my hat as a sign of respect*
One small remark, Thomas - in the last 9 month we had more MPPs than just 3 (remember the Sol Training Wars and our MPP with eMalaysia for several months last spring, and our MPP with eVenezuela when eMalaysia was whiped out by eIndonesia?).
(;
Even if their is nothing strange about it, it is the exception on the rule. I have not seen ANY newspaper article in eBelgium where the comment vs vote ratio is so low.
Sure call me pathetic for mentioning that...
I understand that you just made an observation of a remarkable fact, A Vegan, but some people obviously thought you were trying to imply something. Just a small misunderstanding, which shouldn't deserve any further attention, guys (;
NO vote, NO sub
I'm never giving you any vote or pressing that button sub as you are biased and you make PROPAGANDA.
I'm quite sure you know what I'm talking about. You're one of the biggest hypocrits I've ever seen.
moreover, what's the purpose of wasting 120 gold for having no war? the eUSA had its wars when was combating eSerbia, and in eRussia, but then again, we've had those MPPs already.. just another in the propaganda statements.
Also, I don't recall anyone wanting an MPP with them...
