First of all, with Mel being absent (i.e., not on IRC and having no communication for the past 24 hours,) I will be acting as Country President.
I have served government in 3 terms and I will be releasing my qualifications to step up to acting CP at a later date. (or not should mel quickly return 😃
)
Considering my military experience and the current situation, I believe it pertinent to immediately take the reigns.
Now, moving onto the juicy part of this announcement:
As many of you know, Cottus-Arci has called on eAustralia to support EDEN operations. I have chatted with him many times over this issue. With Mel missing, I called for a quick cabinet meeting to make an official response.
Citizen of eAustralia, the majority of our current government has decided to reject the call of support from EDEN countries. I know our population is divided up on this issue, but we are playing with our entire nation's fate. Over 1 entire year of hard work is at stake should we choose to assist EDEN.
I know that PEACE does not have much gold to spread to a new front right now, and, in fact, I am pretty confident that we will win WA should we decide to RW it. The success of this operation will have never been higher. But what about in 2 month's time? We have seen that in just 2 days, an article can divide our nation in half, and in 1 day (for the older players) we have seen eRomania dominating Asia/Eastern Europe to being a shelled-up military and political force.
Within even hours, our history and nation can be radically changed. How can we be sure to say that EDEN will be willing to give us a hand in 2 month's time once they achieved their own goals? I can't be sure of it. In fact, no one from EDEN even contacted our government as of yet.
eAustralians, think carefully: diplomacy has worked for us before and it has not failed yet. It has given us 6/7 of our regions. Would you be willing to throw away EVERYTHING we worked for just for a moment of temptation?
EDEN is based in Europe--eAustralia is surrounded by eIndo. If we disappear off the map, we don't have the option of joining forces with an EDEN country to fight for our land back. No, we will be forced to fight our own Resistance Wars and face our own loses. EDEN just want our support because they want their European regions back.
Once again, think carefully, and act on eAustralia's interest and not PEACE GC, EDEN or Fortis's interest.

I call on the Minister for Defence to back this claim up with some actual figures, as the meeting I was present in was not even the majority of Cabinet, much less the majority of the government as a whole.
It can't be a majority of government if figures like the PM aren't there and the other wing, the Senate, isn't involved.

I support you and all, Though shouldn't the senate or cabinet elect an Acting Country president? I don't see how it is allowed to be proclaimed.
Experience or not, It should be the WHOLE governments experience, Mel has only been inactive for just over 24 hours. It's not like 3 - 4 days have passed. Even if you are acting Country president, I don't see how you would be allowed to make Unjustified decisions for the country.
Those permission should be left with the CP not the acting CP.

I think Srg is justified in holding control until Mel returns or there is a Senate vote. There is a need for a government response here.
Good for you, Srg. I'm sure Mel will appreciate your tending the country he holds so dear. I don't think EDEN will do anything to help should it not be convenient. We need to be strong, on many levels, and ready for whatever may come without relying on those who could prove undependable. Voted and subscribed.
i am going to take my chances to annoy you and say that in fact we havn't changed as a nation in fact we have always felt this way just right now a lot of emotion are coming out.
i agree with Ollie Chase i want senate meeting and i also would like the goverment post a link to that meeting once they give there offical response
yeah sure we have gained 6/7 regions from diplomacy but its pretty obvious that eIndonesia will never give up WA. Its worth too much to them. All their citizens are against it (hate articles telling us if we decide to do anything they will wipe us from the face of the eEarth) and we almost didnt gain our other regions thanks to eIndo citizens not wanting to give it up
I agree with jaybay123's agreement with Ollie Chase that the "acting" PM should be voted in.
I am suprised a Deputy PM of sorts hasn't been arranged already.
It's not often you lose both of your leaders of state in 10 days. Note Mel isn't missing he's just not around to make the decision, and we need to make one.

I think it would be really bad if we went to war and lost becuase offen the elected governer becomes the leader of the resisance force; who would be are leader if we lost?
DeanKong, You don't need an Acting PM to make a decisions.
It is what the senators are for.
He has been away for just over 24 hours and ONE of you is already trying to proclaim power.
Cookie, if we were to sit down and get a senate vote, we would need to set aside 24 hours to begin with (as required) for discussion, and then another 24 hours (as required) for voting. Following up on that, maybe 50% of senators would place their vote, thus not getting a full spread of the opinions of senate. And this is just minimum time, usually it's 4 days before we can act on anything the senate decrees. In 2 days eIndo could decide to have declared war and taken several of our regions.

As much as we don't get a long it might be a good idea for Srg91 to take controll but we need to also talk this over with the public as well.
But there is also a loop hole there if Srg91 start a fight with Eindo then the whole deal with endo is off.
what i mean Srg91 right now is probbily the most hardest time to be a leader of this place.
We are unstable right now and if Mel dosn't come back we would pretty much stuffed polictally and regonally we more of mob then a nation right now.

All you have are rumours and guesses, You are all scared shitless for no reason. Obviously they are not going to attack, We haven't received word from eIndo and obviously our government hasn't even tried to talk to them.

like I said to srg privately, I think its great he is being proactive in Mels absence but I don't agree with this article. Mel has been MIA for 1 day, and I think srg jumped the gun on this one

SRG has taken the correct steps in ensuring the nations stability.
The senate has every right to hold a vote to decide things however untill that time there are things that need decisions and action.

The reason Cottus Arci's article was able to "divide our nation in half..in just 2 days" is because it was timely and struck a cord with a lot of people. There's a lot of truth in it.
I've heard several eIndonesians (even in the comments to his article) state that they couldn't possibly see giving up control of Western Australia. Not only with certain conditions.. not ever!
So I'm guessing that this is why Mel isn't running the Senate School at the moment? I wondered why s/he hadn't replied to anyone...
Either though I was already against starting a RW, shouldn't this situation re-inforce the fact we shouldn't? If our leadership at the current time is not in order, how are we to start a proper and successful RW?

srg, just because you have lot's of experience in the Exec. side of the government does not mean you can declare yourself the "acting CP" as soon as the current CP takes the weekend off 😛 (am I the only one who made the correlation between the time Mel has been absent and day(s) of the week he's been gone?).
While I agree it's about time the Gov decided on it's stance for this issue, the entire government (Exec and Legislative) needs to be involved in the decision (otherwise, it's not Democracy - it's Oligarchy).
I support Srg91, with Mel gone someone has to take control of this situation before it's too late.
It took months of hard work and good luck to regain our country. Does anybody really think taking back WA is worth risking our independence?

Srg91 I thankyou for putting forth this article and I will reinforce that this is the current governments position.
Unforunately this should not be seen as srg91's error but rather my own. Having only just taken the seat of Prime Minister following stewstoyc's departure I had not as yet appointed a dPM.
Fortunately, srg91 having worked closely with me over the last few days was well informed I my own views regarding this matter and able to make an executive decision based upon the evidence before him.
Again I thank srg91 for releasing this information to the public and I sincerely apologise if my own inaction has caused any concern in the minds of the public.
My friends in the eUSA Army are calling eIndonesia "militarily unsignificant", and eAustralia "of no strategic value". Being tucked away in its own corner of the world, eAustralia is not of strategic value. Without a High Iron Region, it isn't strategic in terms of natural resources. As far as EDEN/FORTIS is concerned, eAustralia's only strategic value would be as a diversionary second front. Since eIndonesia is not directly involved in a war on any front, Australia currently has no value even as a diversion.
If you go to war with eIndonesia now, you are alone. My son's friends in the JCS ( eAmerican Military Command Staff ) assure me that they will not send help. Not now when Australia is of no strategic value.

You're basing your entire theory on "ifs". eRepublik is about taking risks that benefit your nation. Nothing has a 100% possibility of working, but if the benefits are great, then you must take risks in order to achieve those benefits.
Pacifism has no place on eRepublik. Nor do some ridiculous 5 year plans to finally unite your nation. Sure, you can play the game as only a political and economic simulation, but those aspects of the game are only for the elitist oligarchs in charge. War. Now that happens on a national scale. Not only does it feed the national spirit thus activating the users that then recruit more players, it also improves the economy with speedier increase in levels and increase in consumption. Not to mention the war tourists flocking in the country to fight and buy Australian goods. Waging war actually brings money into the country.
I am fully expecting that the decision was made by people who are owners of corporations that do business with Indonesia, and don't want to lose profits by declaring a war. Australia has been controlled by this elite group of corrupt pacifist businessmen that care nothing for the country.

We have grown and expanded a long way in the past year. We have taken back all but one region in the last year through friendly negotiations with PEACE and our country has grown demographically in the amount of citizens. We have opened new markets economically and politically we had more views and participation than every before.

You call 2775 users gained in a year a growth? Look at Hungary with its grand total of 10 million people. It has 5 times the amount of users you do. Why? Because they embraced nationalism. Look at Croatia. Look at Serbia. Even Spain has grown twice its size after the French occupation. All because of national pride that you beat down for "rationalism". They made no joke slave agreements with their enemies, but fought against them. And the users in those countries loved it.
Politics and economics are all fine and dandy to fraction of the population. It does not accommodate all the users. Your responsibility as leaders are to ensure the users of your country are entertained. Based on your population demography, can you say that the path you've chosen is the best one? Can you? Really?
