[DoEE] New term + ask your cabinet!

Day 2,299, 07:24 Published in Australia Australia by Aus Ministry of Finance

The presidential election has come to a conclusion, and with that we'd like to offer our (perhaps slightly late) congratulations to Cyber.Casper (pictured above) and the best of luck during their time in office. For more information on the composition of the cabinet (which I'm sure we'll try to delve into in a later article) click here.

Speaking of a new cabinet, allow me to introduce myself! My name is Marjoo Umbri, and I will be your Deputy Minister of Education and Entertainment this term, serving under returning Minister James Rellori. I'm a relatively new returnee to eAustralia, but I can assure you that in the past I have held similar government roles and that I will give my full effort to reaching and surpassing everyone's expectations. I'd like to thank James, Casper, the rest of the Cabinet and the eAustralian people for giving me this opportunity; I promise I won't let you down.

This term we hope will be one of the Department's most active, with stacks of new competitions and initiatives planned. First on our list is a major revamp of the national library which we have found a bit inaccessible, disorganised and out of date (nothing catastrophic). Once that's out of the way, we'll dedicate our time to more active engagement with the eAustralian public. But first, I'd like to cover a few points in this preliminary article.

Ask Your Cabinet

I remember when I first returned to eAustralia the most intimidating aspect of life was when you had a problem or query and had to turn to an older player for help. Oh, the fear of judgement and scorn I held! Thankfully, I soon found the majority of our older population is incredibly friendly and happy to field even the silliest of questions. Still, it's hard to pick a random government official and send them a PM; now, there's a much easier, accessible method for the curious!

Just opened on the eAustralian forums is a new board where new players and old players alike can directly pose a question to the President or his Cabinet! Whether you have a general query that you'd like quickly dealt with (one Cabinet member or another is often likely to be online 24/7) or a specific question directed to a particular Department, the new Ask Your Cabinet board is open to all forum members who want to voice their concerns or clear up confusion over a particular topic. Please please please don't be afraid to use it, new players - it's there for you, so take advantage of the chance to directly query the leaders of your country!

eAustralian Reddit

A quick point here. Upon direct request of President Cyber.Casper himself, my superior James Rellori has kindly created an eAustralian subreddit as another means of communication (and entertainment) for all Australian eRepublik players. It's just getting kicked off now but if you have anything to say at all to the rest of the community, whether it be a proposal, a question or a humorous anecdote, don't hesitate to give this new platform a shot. Whilst the forums are obviously necessary due to the complexity and detail they offer a poster, Reddit is much more accessible and user-friendly if you just want to connect with a fellow eAustralian, so it'd be fantastic if everyone could give this a shot and try to breathe some life into this new site. I'm sure one of our many upcoming competitions will involve this reddit in some manner, so get a headstart on the competition!

But Marjoo, Reddit just isn't giving me the satisfaction I crave so dearly! And neither are the forums! Well let me take this opportunity to give our IRC channel #ausrep a chance if you haven't before. Within hours of joining and contributing to it for the first time, I found a lively, friendly and hilarious community that not only made me feel truly eAustralian but also led to several communications which developed a series of projects I am now working on. If you want to become an active participant in the eAustralian community, check out how to join the IRC and join some of the greatest people you'll ever meet in humour and harmony today.

That just about wraps it up for today, excuse me for the lack of pictures (I'm no artist like my glorious leader James Rellori) and I hope I didn't ramble excessively. Keep an eye out for many DoEE articles this term, especially the plethora of competitions we'll be running in future days and weeks.

In summary, the two hotlinks for today are the new Ask Your Cabinet board on the forums and the new eAustralian subreddit, so please again check them out.

And hey, eAustralia. Don't you forget to Just DoEEt
