[DoEE] New player guide to playstyles

Day 2,729, 02:23 Published in Australia Australia by Aus Ministry of Finance

Welcome to eRepublik! This article is dedicated to the player who understands the basics of the game and is looking for more guidance. The purpose is to showcase several different play styles, that emphasise different aspects of the game. expose different growth methods for the orientation to a choice. Finally, it should provide a range of useful information for the various styles described.

Fundamentally, the issue of playstyle revolves around what you want to do. Always remember that ERepublik is a game and should be fun. And, strangely enough, there is no way to win..

At the root of playstyles lies experience points. Earning experience points can cause problems, as your citizen will advance up the combat divisions more rapidly. It is exponentially more difficult to earn battle hero medals as you move up divisions. From what we (a bunch of Div 1 peaceniks that like to write articles) can see, it is practically impossible to win a battle hero in Div 4 unless you started playing before 2010...

The Balanced Approach

Taking a balanced approach involves the use of all functions of the game, which increases your citizen’s experience, strength, (hopefully) wealth, and military rank.

Objectives and directions

Designed to obtain simple profits and consistent player growth. Suited to the citizen who aspires to be part of everything. It does not require any special effort or purchase of gold for real money.

What you can do and recommended limits

1. You should work once a day for another citizen. This gives you good balance between income and too many experience points (2/shift worked). .

2. We discourage the work-as-manager function in your own companies to limit experience gain (2/company) and the disadvantages of the method (mainly rapid experience gain).

3. You must train every day. Training is absolutely vital in the game. We advise against using the gyms for a fee until they are improved to level 4 and you have a contract discount. Without a contract discount, only the cheap gym (0.19 gold/day) at level 4 is recommended for regular use.

3. You can fight. We suggest you should be part of a military unit and take down at most 25 enemies a day to finish your daily orders (national emergencies excepted). The fight button can be a black hole of experience gain if you are not careful...

4. Get involved in the political functions of the game. Running for Congress, or Party President, or even Country President (not for the faint hearted) is all experience free.

5. Follow and complete all the missions offered by the game to speed up your strength growth and to get more income. Consult an experienced player before completing missions if you have concerns or want to assess their suitability.

6. You can open a newspaper. Thanks to two missions and the opportunity for endorsement you can recover the startup cost and make a profit for no experience point cost. Making a steady profit is hard work though! Try to write interesting articles...

Method 2 - The Tank

Most of you have probably seen the phrase “tanking” around. What does it mean? It means a citizen who hits hard and hits frequently in battles. Often with a strength outrageously high for their combat division. So, someone like El Sable de Platino with a strength of 54,000 in Div 1 is a good example. To be a true tank, however, you need to be able to recover your energy very quickly as well. More often than not, they will have invested in the Energy Centres you can buy from the “advanced buildings” tab.

Tanks aim to finance their activities through winning Battle Hero and Campaign Hero medals. Things like energy centres and energy bars cost a lot of gold though. Many tanks wind up having to buy gold to succeed.

Objectives and directions

Anything that increases your damage potential must be pursued! Strength is paramount, so sink all your spare gold into training centre upgrades. Get a training contract when you’ve upgraded your third training centre to Q4.

What you can do and recommended limits

1. Upgrade your training centres at every opportunity. Do this during the 45% discount periods that come around about once a month. It costs 170 gold to maximise each training centre if you upgrade during the discount period.

2. Get a training contract! They are offered around once a month and reduce your training costs by either 50% or 90%. For a fee, of course. It is simple to do the maths on which one is best for you - don’t assume 90% is better automatically.

3. Train the maximum you can afford every day. Strength is all!

4. Go battle hero hunting. Watch for an article on how to do this later on, if you don’t already know how!

5. Only fight with Q7 weapons, and only fight if you are going to win a battle hero medal. Use energy bars to get more hits in a battle to make sure you win.

6. Stay in as low a division as you can. Battle hero becomes much harder every division you move up.

7. Use combat orders to pay for your weapons and food. Hunt around on the Wars page for the best combat orders. If you care at all for your eHome, fight for our friends (even if they pay less) before you fight for our enemies.

Method 3 - The tycoon

Ever wonder where all that food and weapons on the market came from? Somebody had to produce it in their factories. That someone might as well be you, right?

The tycoon aims to maximise their income above all other considerations. Why would you do this? Well, a lot of game functions need cash. A lot of cash. Being the bank gives you power and control over things.

Despite all that, making money is often a side effect or secondary consideration. Why? Frankly, it’s a little boring just pushing one button/day.

Objectives and directions

Anything that increases your income must be pursued! If you fight, it should be to earn a true patriot medal only. Most of your income will come from companies, so pay attention to resource bonuses and tax rates.

What you can do and recommended limits

1. Establish your industrial base early. Factories are, in our opinion at least, the most viable way of earning money through companies.

2. Build a spreadsheet to calculate potential income for different grades and types of factories. Not all factories will make you money! Send any of your friendly a DoE, or a mentor, a message if you need any advice accounting for all the different expenses.

3. Use “work as manager” as much as you can, but only for profitable factories (obviously).

4. When you get to Q4 or beyond in your first factory, hire some other players. Be careful on your salary offers! Too high and you lose money, too low and nobody will accept.

5. Resell products from other countries. Australia’s resource bonuses for weapons are terrible! So, our weapons factories produce half as much as, say, Serbian factories. If, to use arbitrary numbers, you can buy Q7 weapons in Serbia for $6.10 and sell them in Australia for $6.25 then you’re making $0.15/weapon (less taxes).
