Special Report
Energy Regeneration changes, Day 1744

Today we all got a message declaring some changes to the way our food will be consumed. In order to control rumors and facilitate understanding, the Department of Defense has prepared the following primer which should cover all of the basics.

For the purpose of this article, I will be referring to the “Energy Meter” (EM) and the “Recovery Meter” (RM).

This is the EM

This is the RM

Also for the purpose of this article, I will be working with an example in which a Citizen has a “Residence” (formerly known as “Town Center”) of +400.

You can find your Residence by clicking “My Places” and then clicking the 4th “Advanced Buildings” tab.

So with the +400 Residence pictured above, your EM will be able to hold 400 potential Energy. You can add 10 additional Energy to your EM every 6 minutes by clicking your RM.

A Blue RM means you have potential Energy to add to your EM.

An orange RM means you are out of potential Energy to add to your EM.

Once your EM is full, your Potential Energy begins to accumulate up to the amount allowed by your Residence. So it is now possible, in the above example, for a Citizen with a +400 Residence to have 800 available Energy to fight with (or work with, but if you think you can make any money in this stupid economy you are nuts).

So far, the only functional change for anyone is in the fact that they can use a double-portion of health clicks in a battle if they save up their energy.

Unfortunately for the average player, this means that those who are stronger than you can now put twice as much more damage into a battle than you can.

Example:
beerman616 is a World Class Force*** with a strength of 14,591. Every 10 Energy he spends with a Q7 weapon yields 13,942 influence.

Dell Fargus is a Legendary Force with a strength of 12,435. One shot with a Q7 yields him 12,129 influence.

(To find out your influence, go to this site.)

Under the old system, if both beerman616 and Dell Fargus had 500 health to spend in a battle, beerman616 would have accumulated 697,100 influence and Dell Fargus would have done 606,450. With a difference of 90,650, Dell Fargus would have needed 80 additional energy to pass beerman616. 1 Candy Bar (can’t call them Energy bars any more can we?) would have put him ahead.

Under the new system, and all things remaining equal, beerman is now doing 2 Candy Bars’ more damage per battle than Dell Fargus making it that much harder for the “little guy” to catch the “big guy”. So start saving those Candies!

But there is another even bigger change that this new system brings on.

It used to be that in order to maximize your potential “food fights”, you could set your available health at (using the above example) 390 plus 100 stored in your Green health bar. Now you would have an entire hour before your next 100 health would be added. If you waited 55 minutes of that hour, then unloaded your 490, you would get the next 100 right away. With planning, you could drop 590 health into a battle (or 690 if you did it right).

In the new system health is added every 6 minutes. This means that once you‘ve accumulated your 400+400, you’ve got a window of opportunity 6 minutes wide to start fighting before you lose potential health. Because once you’ve filled your EM and your RM to capacity, every 6 minutes is 10 potential Energy you will lose.

This dynamic has even greater implications to those serious fighters who time their bedtime and sleep patterns according to their eRep food fights.

Yes, folks, there is a large class of eRep soldiers who take pride in spending 2400 health every day by never letting that timer expire. These are the warriors with health buildings (and many still have “houses” in inventory for another few months) totaling as much as 700 available health.

like a boss

Under the old system, I could set my remaining health to 100 with 90 in the Recovery Meter. This would give me just under 7 hours before I needed to unload at least 100 – buying me another hour. Call that the eRep “snooze button”.

Not any more.

Since the health is now added every 6 minutes, players who want to maximize their daily clicks will lose 54 available minutes of “down time”. Instead of sitting with 690 for 59 minutes, I will go from 690 to 700 after 6 minutes elapsed, then 6 minutes later I have to either click something or kiss 10 Energy bye-bye.

Thanks Plato

What will this mean for the Department of Defense?

Since there is no actual change to the amount of health available in the course of a day (averaged out over at least two days), there are no changes needed to the Budgets of the various branches of the USAF and OMS.

However, since Arm America issues supplies ad hoc to Citizens based on their available health, I expect that Arm America will cost about 50% more to run than it currently does.

Really that's it.
