[Dish for PM!]Chovot Ha-Levavot, eUK Style

Day 771, 20:15 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Dishmcds
In school, one of the more awkwardly translated yet interesting pieces of work that I happen to read (at least parts and bits that were used in comprehensive studies) was Chovot ha-Levavot, or &quot😉uties of the Heart" written by Bahya ibn Paquda. Among the three duties lied Self Responsibility (nothing is created by itself), Cause and Effect, and Implied Future reactions. During the campaign, while not releasing policy (final due out three days up to elections), I'll be outlining my view of the Three Kingdoms, as it relates to the tasks at hand in the eUK should you choose to elect me.

The Three Kingdoms - An Overview

In Erepublik, there are several things that all players must, at some point, stop and realise.

1. This is a game. While it is based on National boundaries, everything else from the hardly functional economic module (and yes, I'm looking at you Raw Material distribution and productivity formulas), its military dysfunction (DS Systems are horribly outdated and need updating, Hospital Sales have and will continue to slow the more that are placed, eventually going to Nationalise the industry), and the fact that there are functional in game chat or forum communications. Shouts are only halfway functional, and so on. We must always remember to enjoy ourselves in what we can truly control, which is how our communities are built.

2. Even though there are various things wrong with Erepublik, much like in life, things can always improve, no matter how perfect you feel or think it already is. Having fluid policy allows that, as well as getting everyone involved who wants to be involved. Getting everyone a job or duty in their first days, and keeping them past the first five is the biggest issue we have in Erepublik. If you, knowing what you know now, had to wait 4 days to do anything besides push two buttons, would you stay?

I'm guessing not. Having a support system for new players, teaching them one by one, individually is the most important thing to building a functional society, and by extension a functional military in Erepublik.

3. Each of us plays an online Character who represents a citizen in the New World. These are, however, just that. They are online characters, and nothing more. The money we make on a daily basis, the belongings we have, the strength, skill, etc that we attain, matter for nothing if we do not have the ability to coordinate with everyone else. Alone, we are completely isolated and vulnerable, whereas truly United we are unbeatable.

This does bring me to the First Kingdom of the eUK, which is Communication.

In this Kingdom, its safety net is the walls around it, or the ability of its leaders to constantly communicate with the General Public. Being available, well communicated, and always present in the forums, IRC, and through in game articles is vital to success as a President, because for everything you do that the Public doesn't understand, it only appears that much more treasonous. Everything from our financial status, security, to tax changes needs to be explained to the Constituency, and the First Kingdom will ensure that this is done throughout the eUK.

Sincerely,
Just Another Guy

Fun Fact: This was my avatar during my two terms as the President of the US, for the Americans who want to know.

To any Brits who can find me a Hot New Thing to use, please let me know. 😉
