[CRoy4CP] The Gr8 Reformation

Day 1,105, 20:16 Published in USA USA by The Libertine

Hello Again

How have you been since we’ve last spoken, Emericka?

Have you been naughty or have you been nice? Maybe little bit of both?

This article will lay out some of the specifics of my plan for structural organization and rejuvenation in the eUS. I look forward to any comments or concerns you may have. 😁

The Gr8 Reformation

I am of the opinion, and will always be of the opinion, that strong leaders (and the institutions that they lead) are the greatest retention tool we have in this game. They add mystique and allure to this amazing world that we live in. They mold the sand, in the sandbox that we call eRepublik, into castles that can withstand the test of time. They bravely lead us into the unknown, and we follow them in the hopes of being part of something bigger than ourselves.

We need these strong leaders to keep building and innovating and testing the limits. In my opinion, through a combination of lackluster game design by eRepulik and short sighted structural planning within our government, these innovators have faded, their castles blown away in the wind before ever coming to fruition. There is nothing I can do about the design of the game, though I have tried and seem to have once succeeded. But. If you give me the chance to be your President, there are a number of governmental structural changes I will be able to make to improve this country for the better.

The Three Pillars of the Gr8 Reformation

1) The Executive Firewall

V2 (and the months preceding it as well) saw the steady departure of much of the eUS government workforce. Consolidation followed. Many jobs overlapped in order to ensure that the work that needed to get done was done. In the short term, this helped. In the long term, it compounded the retention problem, because institutions began to mesh into one. Today in the eUS, there are basically two entities of power: the government (made up of the Executive, the Parties, and Congress) and the military.

To counteract this, I will be creating an executive firewall. If elected, Party Presidents, Vice Party Presidents, the Speaker of the House, and the Deputy Speakers will not be allowed to hold any Secretary or Deputy Secretary level job in my White House.

Why? Party Presidents command entire groups of 200+ citizens, their party members. In the case of one party, this number is 600. They need to be focusing their full attention on their members, no matter how good they are at multitasking. Likewise, Congressional leaders command a group of ~50 each month, on top of holding many other tasks and oversight duties.

To make strong institutions, institutions of value that will create new leaders and retain new members, we need strong leaders devoting their full time to their members. The Executive Firewall will accomplish this. I am convinced that we have the activity level and manpower to staff all of these institutions (and more) without overlap.

2) Institutional Revival

This brings me nicely to my second point. A direct outcome of the Executive Firewall will be Insitutional Revival. The parties will see a greater level of top down activity as will Congress.

There are more institutions that need to be revived as well. As I mentioned in my previous article, bringing back the fabled Economic Council will be a top priority. There are a number of economists ready to put in the hard work needed to make the EC a force once again. Now more than ever, with the headless chicken nature of the current tax debates as well as possible upcoming changes in the economic model, it is the right time to have a strong formalized economic advisory body for both the President and Congress.

I have plans to turn the State Department into more of a functioning body/council as well, rather than the single headed position (or two-headed position) it has been in the past. I have recruited the personnel to pull this off, and I look forward to announcing a full proposed cabinet in a few days.

3) White House Accessibility

Ever wondered how to contact your government? Feel like suggesting an idea or asking for some with one thing or another? Often it can be difficult to know where to look. Often if can be difficult to be heard.

There are two main things I plan to implement in order to increase accessibility to the White House. They are relatively small changes, but they are changes that could have a strong longer term impact on the country.

- Public #Whitehouse IRC Channel

That’s right. It’s been done before. I’d like to do it again. Currently used (most of the time sparsely) by members of the executive branch, it is a logical public meeting place to talk about the political affairs of the country. #usa-chat is still relatively unused and #tc is a politics free channel.

Making #whitehouse public again would create a place for official announcements to be made, a place for foreign diplomats to easily find members of the government they seek to talk with, and in some ways it would just be fun to see what would happen there. The idea is not finalized, but it is something I will strongly consider. The private government IRC communication that takes place there can be easily be moved elsewhere.

- The White House Intern Program

I’m excited for this. For a while we have been funnelling new citizens directly into low level Interior jobs. This is great, but breeding a new set of leaders means exposing them to existing ones. I will create an Intern Program made up of citizens without much government experience that are eager to help out. They will work directly for the Chief of Staff and workload will vary.

New citizens are the future, and a program that puts a select few in direct contact with the Chief of Staff is a perfect way for citizens to ease their way into helping one day run the government. One week there may be little to do. One day there may be an hour of research or mass messaging that may need to be done. No matter what, if we want newer people to appreciate this game the same way we do, we need to put them in direct contact with the leaders that have brought us this far.

This may be a paid program. Have not decided yet. I will only accept about eight citizens, and so far three spots are filled. If you would like to apply, sign up here: http://tinyurl.com/eWHintern

That’s all for now. I know it was a lot of information, but I have a lot of big plans. I see a lot of hope in this country. The boom in excitement for this Presidential campaign is overwhelmingly encouraging. Parties have been growing lately. Election votes have been going up each election day as well. All of those bode very well for us. In the upcoming days I will be releasing my cabinet choices as well as discussing other issues important to this country.

My goals will make significant changes in this country, but all of them are achievable. I will not belittle you by simply claiming “I will strengthen the economy” or “I will strengthen our relations with foreign nations.” It takes a village to raise a child. I intend to build the national infrastructure that will lead us into the New Year, in this New World. I plan to build things that will last long beyond me. Castles in the sand that cannot be blown away.

It is time to start thinking long term again. We must put the country ahead of ourselves and work together to lay the groundwork for the future.

Together we can dream of everything and do anything.

Together we can be beautiful.

Best,
CRoy
