[CP]: We Stand Firm

Day 1,247, 22:06 Published in Austria Austria by Albert Neurath

People of Austria:

It is always unfortunate when Austria finds itself thrust violently into the middle of a war. It is doubly unfortunate when the country that has provoked this war is one with whom we, all things considered, should be at the very least friendly with. It shall always be our goal to try and seek a peaceful resolution of conflict wherever possible.

Despite this, however, we do not and never will surrender our mandate to defend ourselves from aggression. Slovakia, by attacking our province of Burgenland, has committed an aggressive act against our national sovereignty. To the credit of our nation, and the allies who have come from across the globe to support us, we have beaten them on the battlefield today, and shown them that their aggression is for naught.

In the coming days, I and the government shall take all possible steps to restore peace between Austria and Slovakia. I do not wish for this conflict to escalate beyond the point it has reached already. Although Austria is forced by game mechanics to attack a Slovakian region, it is not in either our best interests or Slovakia's best interests for that region to be occupied, a sentiment that I am sure my Slovakian counterpart shares.

In the coming days, we must be vigilant. Since we do not wish to occupy Slovakian land, we will be fighting several more battles in Burgenland. It is our duty as Austrians to make sure that no foreign aggressors ever manage to occupy that region. With the assistance of our many allies, this goal will be easier. Despite this, we must not become lax, else we risk the compromise of our national sovereignty. We must stand firm in the face of conflict.

For the country,

Albert Neurath
