A quick, "formal", update for ye.
In order to find his equal, an Irishman is forced to talk to God, God ain’t around much on the IRC so we’ve decided to invade Canada. A nice warm up for the I.A.
Nah seriously, we’re renting Shannon out to Canada.
Any war opened using the a Natural Enemy proposal cannot be closed for a duration of 7 days. With the auto-attack rules Ireland would well be in trouble, we’d also be unable to sign any MPP’s for those 7 days so the only way to go about the deal was to declare war.
Cost of War = 232.5g
Ireland paid 100g
Canada paid 132.5g
Starting on March the 4th Canada will begin to pay rent for the Shannon occupation. A sum of 40g will be paid into the New Ireland Bank on the 4th of every month. We won’t make any profit until the 3rd month but the bank will probably be robbed 4 or 5 times this year so that annual 40g will be vital to Ireland. [trollface.jpg]
The duration of the deal is for as long as Ireland & Canada remain bffs, which is forever!
Lastly on Army supply.
The Irish Army will be dishing out food only for this fight. We want this deal done asap so we can go about signing some MPPs and winning some wars. In the event that we’re actually dominantly winning a round supply will effectively stop and will only resume when our attack has quietened down.

So we're at war with Canada to give them Shannon. How long will those companies that might be trading with Canada be under an embargo?
And for what -- 40 gold a month, and we won't even be in the black on this deal for three more months.
How about we swap them even up and keep Newfoundland? It's a fish resource, which will increase food productivity.
But I should mention one last thing -- Even though I disagree with the terms of the deal, CT221 is to be congratulated for making it public.

I highly doubt there will be any substantial negative impact on trade due to the temporary embargo. After all the war will only last a total of 87 hours.
40gold is actually quite good for us, and is probably more than the region is worth. We wouldn't gain 40gold of revenue from having Shannon, so this is a much better choice.
"we won't even be in the black on this deal for three more months." It's not as though this deal actually puts us in the red at all. I can't see how the fact that this is a long term initiative is in any way a drawback.
It also puts Canada within 1 zone of Ireland which puts us a Q1 MT away from all the war their MPP list brings them.

Obviously you don't understand how Game mechanics works in this aspect. If we were to win in NFL we would have to attack yet another Canadian region, thus increasing the cost of this war, as we would put resources into ensuring the battle runs smoothly.
Also, if we were to take NFL in exchange for Shannon, we would be giving away fruit in exchange for fish. Both of these are food resources. If you can see any benefit in that I'll be quite surprised.
Let me know if you still find anything disagreeable with the landswap operation.

Fish is not the same as Fruit.

That question would make sense if Canada only had 1 Fish region - but they have 4. They would lose a Fish Region, but not the Fish bonus. Just like we don't lose the Fruit bonus when Canada takes Shannon, as we also have Fruit in NE...
Yea, you're right actually. I didn't realise they had so many fish regions. I was thinking they would be giving up all their fish if they gave up NFL.
That could be worth looking into in the future. But for now, we are likely to gain far more from this trade, than without it.

Gonzos suggestion isn't the worst idea in the world. Peace declaration could have been timed to prevent to prevent us having to attack after winning NFL. We coulda even co-ordinated to drag the battle out for as long as safely possible without risking outside interference.
But 40g a month is most likely better for us than an increase in productivity since the "work in as many companies you own" rule was introduced.

Canada won in Shannon and didn't need to attack again due to well timed Peace proposal. Why would it have been any different for us? IBhoy has stated NFL was never on the table due to it's strategic importance to Canada though so...
