[CP] Update from day 1,771 - Congress Elections

Day 1,771, 15:42 Published in India India by ArawnLives

There isn't that much news domestically - most progress on our current policy changes are stalled for Congress elections. As things progress, the elections seem to be progressing in an incident-free manner. Congratulations to Yuuva for what looks like will be an outstanding performance.

First, it seems that the eUSA is currently in trouble - the American Freedom Alliance, a group the eUS government has declared to be a terrorist front (and it does seem to be full of eSerbians) is pulling off a stunningly successful Congress campaign. I know eUS are currently not members of EDEN, but I nevertheless wish them well and hope that this month is a bearable trial and they will not be PTOed. They are also fighting a battle against Macedonia (or FYROM), so if you have extra damage and are so inclined because of how much you like Ishamael Naeblis or BeachBunny, do give some of your damage to their cause. Of course, if you're Hamturk, you'll protest at this. But that's neither here nor there.

SOME CONCERNS
I keep a close watch on the number of new citizens we get daily - in the hope that we will see soon a new wave of eIndians. On an average, there are between 10 and 20 citizens a day. Today, there are 77. While I would ordinarily rejoice at this number, there is the coinciding of it with the Congress elections that fills me with some trepidation.

I urge you, do not make fake accounts for Congress elections. You skew an electoral process unfairly. Don't forget, our nation and community, especially in terms of active numbers, is small - everyone will probably get a chance to be in Congress within their first 6 months. Is it really worth risking it all?

AGENDA

There is much work to be done soon. I hope the new Congress will be a much needed shot in the arm for our attempts at reform. In terms of dispatch, there were some slight hiccups - but amazing work from deadley21 managed to keep dispatch going in general. As things are coming back to normal, I urge you all to thank deadley and be gracious about this dispatch - I can tell you, as a former dispatcher myself, that it is a ridiculously thankless and tiring job.

Dispatch

The current proposal we're hoping to institute a test run of soon is that each BRATS member will receive Q6 weapons as per their available energy (formerly known as food fights) - so the limit of 90ff or 900 energy will no longer apply. MARCOS soldiers will receive 25 Q6 weapons per day. Both of these dispatches will be verified to prevent misuse of the weapons being dispatched.

EDEN

In my manifesto, I had initially planned to have a referendum on our EDEN status. At present, I do not think that this is a good time. To begin with, all nations and alliances are in such flux that it would behoove us to be as cautious in our approach as possible. My general read on the situation is that the overall majority wants to remain in EDEN, certainly - and the question of trial membership vs. full membership is one with little impact, and can wait until things are more stable in the eWorld.

CENSUS

eIndia purportedly has over 1200 active eIndians (1249 exactly), yet the number of people in the political parties is less than 250. Sure, some are former citizens who are just two clicking, etc. But in general, I have a feeling that we have a need to make sure that our citizens are not getting lost or falling between the cracks - not realising that our community exists and interacts often in forums and portals not directly accessible from the site. I want to have a census in eIndia - I invite someone to volunteer spending 3 days tracking active players and giving an analysis of the damage, activity and numbers in each division to help us better formulate our policies and have a clearer picture of how our eIndian community is.

As always, I look forward to your suggestions and inputs.

PS: Our Minister of Finance and well respected citizen Rebelash recently had a cousin admitted to the hospital, whose condition continues to remain serious. I urge you all to hope for the cousin's full and rapid, healthy recovery.
