[CP] Update for Day 1762

Day 1,762, 07:19 Published in India India by ArawnLives

I write to you, frustrated and annoyed. But we'll get to that, after the update.

1. PTO OMG WTF and other three letter acronyms

In my time in this game, I have seen many PTO attempts - some were real, many manufactured so as to create a situation where one candidate would win. RL nationality and various accusations have also flown, which is why I was never in favour of the idea of interfering in PP elections. However, I noticed a disturbing trend while trying to figure out whether certain CS applications should be granted - a Congress member named Restive had happily given CS applications to no less than 3 eIranians without really consulting the Head of Congress.

Shockwavve, a really helpful chap, tried to contact Restive - in a truncated conversation, it seems that Restive said he had been summarily ignored by certain eIndian authority figures and meant no harm, but was reluctant to come online on IRC and participating in this community. Also, offering CS is a dangerous prospect. At the point that we realised that Restive had collected a giant lead for the PP elections, I honestly decided that it was time for us to take the more cautious approach. These are my reasons -

Importance of PP Post
There can be no denying that the PP's post is an incredibly important one for defending against PTOs. Basically, the PP can filter out dangerous candidates from Congress or from the CP election at any time. We need to have people we trust in that position. I'm afraid Restive is not a person that we felt that we could trust - and we're happy to change our minds.

No References?
I repeatedly asked several eIranian Government members - they had no idea who Restive was, and for the most part were apologetic, but soundly disavowed knowing this person. I think that in situations such as these, in the absence of good news, we must assume that it is bad news that is coming around the corner.

The Numbers
Ashwamedhism is not a minor party in eIndia - it's certainly bigger than my party, DPI. Yet, the numbers Restive seemed to be getting, even though most members of the party who are active seemed to have no idea who he was, suggested that there was skullduggery afoot; I have reason to believe multis might have been involved.

Given a combination of these factors, we felt the need to intervene. After a sustained campaign of shouts in the feed, shouting in general at anyone who would listen in IRC, and generally my running around like a headless chicken while Asmita kept us calm, we made it across the finish line and made Gaurav12 the new Party President of Ashwamedhism.

However, our campaigns may have affected the results of the elections in other parties, and might have skewed the results. Personally, I would like to render an absolutely unconditional apology to all those who were candidates. I look forward to a time where we can have free elections without such interference, which truly represent the wishes of the people. But I hope my reasons here make it abundantly clear why I felt the need to act the way I did.

2. IMMIGRATION
Given the PTO debacle, I felt that our immigration system needed some quick overhaul. Our new Minister of Immigration is Shockwavve. Don't go by the misspelt name, he's bloody awesome and has done a fantastic job in his one and a half days on the job, efficiently clearing out applications.

His mandate is simple - he will investigate any and all applicants, get references, and once he gets this information and thinks we have a worthy candidate, he shall present that to Samnomix or Asmita, who will make a final call in consultation with him. And then, he shall ask Members of Congress on the thread to give CS at that point to the individual applying.

Let me make this clear - ANY CITIZENSHIP PASS THAT IS GIVEN THAT IS OUTSIDE OF THIS SYSTEM SHALL RESULT IN A NOTICE BEING EXECUTED, asking the responsible Congress member to show cause as to why action shouldn't be taken against him or her. In the absence of any good or pressing reason, we shall bar both the Congress member and the new citizen from access to any Government program, Government MU, and from the Congress elections in the near future.

3. BIHAR RETURNS TO THE FOLD!
Please don't forget to ensure that Bihar returns to eIndia at the soonest. We look forward to having our region back soon. 🙂

Recently, due to a bug, eIndia was autoattacked by eCroatia even though the peace proposal had been passed and no NE existed between our two countries. After a sustained ticket writing endeavour jointly spearheaded by Atea, Croatian MoFA, and Samnomix, our jet-setting intellectual diplomat, we managed to get all the MPPs lost back. However, eIndia faces its own problem - our donation link (http://www.erepublik.com/en/country/donate/India) is not working. Try copying it and pasting it in your browser's address box, because eRep is so buggy that it says the URL is malicious. (FACEPALM).

This has meant that inspite of getting the Crotian rent money promptly, we have been unable to get back all of our MPPs. The situation is somewhat dire, and I need your help - or, better put, eIndia needs your help.

Could everyone please take a screenshot of that link not working and write tickets and submit it to the admin? I submitted the ticket several days ago to no avail. I think if we all act together, there is some hope that there might be a resolution. We really need this, and I hope that you all shall do this. Without it, and without us getting our MPPs in order, we're sitting on a lot of INR that we wanted to use for correcting or bettering the dispatch system and many other things, but we're really unable to move forward without getting this done first, especially given the threats marauding near our borders.

Finally - I would like you to tell me how badly I've been doing, and what we can do better. There is no gauge as to performance better than the opinion of one's peers, and that is what I ask of you. Kindly let me know what we've been doing wrong, and how we've been disappointing you, so that we can focus on those things.

Thank you, all. It's been a pleasure thus far, and I hope at the end of this term we can all look back and see as many as possible of our problems being resolved. Because there are always fresh problems around the corner, nothing is perfect - but we must strive for perfection to achieve happiness.
