[CP] Unexciting Update
Derphoof
As you very well know, we had been engaged in a training war with the Irish. We did this so that all Canadians and our Irish allies would be able to complete the in-game missions to increase our strength and other stats. If we did not do this, then our nations battle damage as a whole, as well as Ireland’s, would have likely taken a setback compared to other nations.
Seeing as Ireland is the smaller of the two nations and had less disposable income and reserves, Canada launched the NE against Ireland. When we attacked, it caused almost all of our MPPs to be canceled. Whereas we lost MPPs, Ireland was able to keep all of its EDEN MPPs. Seeing as the war has closed, Canada will be re-signing the MPPs that we lost.
Now, Canada is close to regaining all of its regions back from the Polish Empire. We will have all of our regions back soon and we will have full Congressional elections come November 25th. As such, we can get on with the formalities of government and the squabbling that comes with an active forum. One such thing that will be discussed is our foreign policy. Canada will be able to apply for EDEN membership on December 1st. Leading up to this, starting on the 26th, we will begin discussing joining EDEN in Congress. Hopefully we can have meaningful discussion and debate, deciding if we will apply for membership or not. Come December 1st, we will move forward based on the decision of the newly elected Congress.
As we regain our regions and MPPs, my MoD and I have begun to publish daily battle orders using the Canadian Civil Defence account. Seeing as there had not been battle orders since day 1696, it is something that truly needed to be revitalized. It will be updated periodically throughout the day as battles open and close all over the globe. Votes may be bought to ensure that it is in the Top 5 articles every day, but I don’t see that being a problem.
There is also another element of the game that has been overlooked lately and that is the welcome message. I’ve noticed that it has not really been updated since Sperry took office. In his link (tinyurl.com/welcome2eRepublik), there is a lot of outdated info. For instance, it has links to the mentorship program which, I believe, has been terminated. It has links to his newspaper for CP Updates. Just as well, the “Top Military Units” needs a little update.
So I, along with my MoIA, TheSmoke, will be creating a new info page that is updated and will inform our new citizens of every nuance of eRepublik, should they choose to click on the links and read.
So in summary:
1) Irish TW is Closed
2) The Polish are being driven out
3) Battle Orders Reinstated
4) Welcome message being updated
5) MPPs being re-signed
6) New Congress on the 26th with the opening agenda of:
-EDEN
-20% VAT
That’s the news for now! As you can tell, the eWorld has been fairly quiet and subsequently there hasn’t been much news to report on. I would love to update you more, as I do love writing, but there simply hasn’t been much to update you on. Hopefully I’ll have some more interesting news to share with you guys next time!

"As such, we can get on with the formalities of government and the squabbling that comes with an active forum."
And it shall be a might amount of squabbling!
Huff, huff, huff, huff...
First motion. Less commas in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Go!
"good update" I was thinking to my self as I read through it. Until I get to the end of the summery. What is that I see....-20%VAT???????
Not again. No way in hell I will ever pay such a high rate of tax in this game again.
I will be in congress on the 25th to fight any tax hike of this magnitude
I'm sorry, but to fight 20% VAT seems very inadvised.
I will direct you to this spreadsheet: http://tinyurl.com/CanFinance
When we changed VAT from 20% to 10%, it caused a MASSIVE drop in our income. Taxes this low renders us unable to have a good MPP stack and decent MU Funding. Even during the missions, when people buy the most, our daily income never hit 10k. Taxes need to go back up to 17%-20% in order for the gov't to be effective and efficient. That is when we had our best days.
Otherwise, what is really our only other option is to re-institute the 10% income tax and moderately raise VAT to something between 10%-15%.
We need to raise our tax revenue so that we can have our MPPs and adequately funded MUs.
I dont have access to your spreadsheet
Oh sorry, its someone else's. It may have limited access, I'll check.

Unexciting updates are a fairly good thing, especially when the details appear to be tracking upward and not flatlining or dropping off. Also, I'm glad to hear TheSmoke and you are onto a project for the newbs.
This may be unexciting, but it is definitely not uninteresting.
Lots of good stuff in here Mr. President 😛
In my opinion huge MU funding is mistake. I was around before MU funding, in order to get weapons I had to invest my gold I got from 30 days of work and other rewards towards building compnies. Other players who played 2-3 years ago are probably similair to me. I have multiple weapons and food factories and and a large stable of RM plants. If my MU funding were to be cut I could sustain my self comfertably. Can the spoon feed players who have joined in the last year say the same?
If newer players are being raised in our weapons for free all the time society are they sacrificed their future ability to do advanced strength training, by not having the need to make money for them selves?
Is it not better to put government money into helping players buy RM companies so they can start to grow their own wealth then this insane funding we supply every month to MUs.
Our nation is like a bunch of puppies who can't be weaned off the mothers tit.
So you've had almost 2 months in office, what have you done of real worth for Canada?
I agree with Crock Crosby. If you can get stuff for free then why invest in those things and work for them?
I was just thinking about the welcome message and how outdated it must be, the other day - I wasn't sure if it had been updated or not, though. Glad to see that you're addressing it. I don't know what you're planning to do, but I still have all of the files from that one saved on my computer - if you want me to send them to someone, or to do some work myself (I don't have much free time, so it might take a while, but I figure I'd offer anyway) just shoot me a PM.

I can't wait to get in congress and debate about tax, I have some opinion about this and also about MU funding.
The worst Canadian CP since TemujinBC
lololol
there is benefit to government mu funding. one you stated it in your post, crock: people spending on strength training instead of companies. if the ecan people can bear a bit of the burden so people don't have to buy companies, it'll make for a better weaponized, stronger country. having funded mu's encourages fighting, as you will be getting free weapons, but you'll have to do your DO to get them, more organized fighting, as mu's have a DO, and incentive to join the country and stay, free stuff
woah tuff
I'll be happy to see the Polish gone!
20% VAT
NO NO NO NO NO

As much as people are entitled to opinions and personal beliefs, it doesn't hurt to bring some basic numbers to the table.
How much money would we have left over to fund MUs once we pay for the MPPs we need? How many MPPs do we even want? Do MUs need more or less funding after these two totals are reconciled against each other?
