[CP] The WelshLad affair

Dear Belgium,
Last few days you saw an article of the eUK Prime Minister trolling our media and accusing us of things we did not do. He requested that I fired my MoFA, thing I refused to do. Let me explain why and apologize for not writing earlier, I had an exam and a lot of IRL work so I couldn’t log in sooner.
1 – The history
The history starts a few days back when two companies where stolen out of the eUK military orgs. Those companies where the property of the eUK government and where used to provide cheap guns to their military force. WelshLad was at that time still a Brigadier and supply officer that had access to those orgs. Several days later, another company was stolen. The eUK had no idea who stole them. No clue as admins didn’t want to give up the names of who did it.
A few days ago, a day or two after the last company was reported missing, WelshLad admitted he took the last one and handed everything back. He explained that it was a mistake he made, an action even he can barley explain why he did it. He officially apologized and was immediately fired and relieved of his duties. People even started accusing him of stealing the two other companies.
This last statement is FALSE ! Even admins admitted that he didn’t do it. WelshLad by this gave everything back without money or gold was missing.
2- Why I didn’t fire him
This is a very good and rightful question. I was made aware of the situation by the eUK government just before WelshLad told it to me. It was my decision to keep him until I was fully aware of what happened. That is why I announced him as member of my government and the hell broke open. PMs coming from everywhere, queries on IRC and the last article of JamesW in our media.
Why didn’t I fire him? First of all, I know WelshLad quite a while now. We worked together hours a day ensure that everything was running smoothly in the eUK. This hours together created a bond and a feeling of trust. Secondly, I am someone that believes in people. People make mistakes and that is something that defines us as humans. I am someone that wants to see the best in people, not only what they did wrong. When I learned of what he did, I could honestly barely believe him and I decided to ask why. After my little “investigation” I decided to keep him. WelshLad made a mistake but he was honest enough to set it right as soon as possible and take all the blame, despite the fact that he knew that he would lose everything.
He probably didn’t answer to all those PM’s for one single reason : the tone of them. Myself I got several PMs, queries on IRC all nearly shouting at me that I was either stupid, that I was ruining the relations with eUK, etc… If I wasn’t CP would I have answered : NO.
Considering this action of him to give everything back while he was aware he would lose everything, his friends, position and activity, this while nobody knew he did it. I decide to keep him for his working ability and the capacity he has to do was Belgium needs. By this : only one person will be able to fire him, Congress (and in fact not even as WelshLad didn’t break the rules) or me. I will not.
3 – WTF !
WTF ! WTF! WTF! Who does the eUK think they are? Who do they think they are that they can REQUEST that I fire someone? Who do they think they are to state things that are not true? They have no affairs in fire ring someone in my government or interact with the internal politics in our country. We own them nothing, they helped us indeed, but the cost was greatly paid back through taxes of our citizens.
If we fire a minister it is because I or Congress decides it, NOT because of a foreign country that tries to influence us and take advantage of their Tactical Voters. PHOENIX HAS NO BUSINESS IN BELGIUM. We are independent and do as we wish. I have read several posts in other of our neighbor countries talking about an invasion. Be sure that we will defend ourselves as well as we can and next time that PHX interferes with our affairs, I will know to which side to turn myself to.

Let me repeat - you accepted Dutch ultimatum, that was also interfering in Belgium internal affairs - so you opened Pandora box and now everyoe thinks it is ok to bully Belgium. What goes around comes around!

For a foreign CP , to spit on how our NEUTRAL country is governed is a great insult to our CP and the peaceful people of eBelgium.
First of @elbanaan, it doesn't matter which position he fullfills, he is a minister in the belgian government. If he was an ambassador, I'd agree, but he's not, so your comment is therefor useless.
I stand by my CP in his decision. I have strong doubts about some of the ministers appointed in foreign countries, or even ambassadors. But what You - by which I mean every individual eCountry - do internally is your business. Not ours, I'm sorry to say this works the other way around as well.
I've been around some time and I know what you've done for eBelgium in the past. But if this would mean we should get Your advise on every decision we make, we might as well be PTO'd

I am disappointed that a former member of the UKRP party can be so alarmingly careless in their appointments of Government, I would have hoped a small memorandum to the British Foreign Affairs minister would have been the very least you would have done.

I find it quite annoying that so many people are hating on Welshlad when the majority of them dont even know him. I talked to him after i found out a week ago and after the indicent he gave the companies back and obviously regretted stealing the companies. If i was in Apotygma's position i would of made the same decision, Welshlad made a mistake and has been punished already for his actions.
I personally was a bit surprized to see a guy who just introduced himself on the national forum, whoom no one really knew, become our new MoFA. The CP has the privilege to appoint members of his cabinet, but in my opinion each appointment should be as uncontroversial as possible to guarantee the best functionality of the cabinet.
To both sides: keep your heads cool, no need for aggressiveness - we can sort our disagreements in a civilized manner.

With regards to it all, I made a mistake, I probably don't deserve the role of MoFA. I may or may not step down.
Had Jamesw told me via pm or whatever that my appointment as MoFA would cause controversy. Then I would of resigned, but the way he attacked Apotygma was unacceptable. I'm not bothered about attacks on me, but Apo doesn't deserve them.

No Brits want to invade you. Even Ireland is above you on that list. JamesW has a bit stupid but it was of no beneift to the UK that they said to fire him, only a request to try and protect you. The fact that this is such a big deal really shows how little news there is in Belgium.

What part of *requesting* that a ex-eUKer who recently stole from our government be removed from your government is us trying to force you to obey our orders.

Point 1 and 2 seem nice and well explained, I really understand your situation there.
3 is a shame. It completely overshadows the understandable explanation, and lowers the level England's CP had set on it's article. After all the effort that has been put in helping Belgium from PTO's, I think it's downright insulting to scream this about Phoenix. Feel free to say you are neutral, but you should not condemn an alliance that has put a lot of effort in helping you. I myself took Belgian CS to vote for Belgians, thinking this help was for friends and beyond alliances. Save to say, if you ever have a PTO problem again, you can make sure I will keep my Dutch 'Phoenix' ass out of it.

Most times I disagree with matt Johnson. But in this case I think his reaction is adequate.
eUK was not talking in a proper way, but it is natural to inform friends about a thief. Paddyohale did admit he did something wrong and he had the guts to undo what he did. But why did he do it he could not say. Than it is difficult to say it will never happen again, so I think he best does not have a job with powers on eBelgium organisations.
But let us make use of this situation. Many Phoenix soldiers do away their eBelgian citizenship. This is the opportunity for eUS and other non neutral soldiers to do the same.
For sure BfB will have less support from Phoenix. Let us hope Free Belgium will have less support too. A small party (only 27 members or so) better not have that much influence in eBelgian politics.
We will see what will happen in the next congress elections...
