[CP] So Long, Indonesia
Sperry
The World Map changes constantly. Definitely a reason to take a look at this.
Today, 2 articles are coming your way - one, here, is our usual daily briefing. Though today has been similar to yesterday in pace, there's still a lot going on on Military Fronts. The war with One marches on. My other article, which focuses on a more local concern, will be out this evening.
Indonesia's Exit:
Since our first wipe on the 6th, we have been working on evicting Indonesia from the West Coast. Despite a very close first two rounds, today's battle continues to go in our favour: 4-0 so far. Indonesia has consistently failed to fight us off when we focus our might on their Canadian holdings, and we are now eradicating the last Indonesian presence within our borders.
America progresses along a similar front. After helping us to win in Saskatchewan, they set their attention to Oregon, Idaho, and Nevada. Only 3 American states remain under Indonesian oppression, as our Pacific Pests are reduced to their holdings in the Far East. Indonesia has tried to hold the line by setting North American battles as their civilian priority for several days. With the exception of one battle we lost deliberately, they have failed in all of them.
Poland Advances:
The obvious disadvantage of evicting Indonesia is the continued presence of Poland. They now stand to occupy as many as 11 Canadian regions, and with our MPP stack still in the single digits, it's hard to face them full on without support. The clear trouble of Poland, however, is not their occupation of our regions. This has been a reality since the American Blockade failed midway through June. The threat is their open path to Alaska - and by extension, China.
Safehaven Midwest:
Before Poland moves through Alaska, they need to set America as their Natural Enemy, which they will be able to do if we are wiped from the map a second time. There's very little we can do about Alaska. One already forced open that hole by returning it to America. We can, however, control just how many American States have to face a Polish occupation similar to the fate of New England.
The Central Five - America's Safehaven States - will soon border Poland on two fronts. One, Saskatchewan, and the other, Manitoba. While this border has existed for nearly a week, it stands to threaten our Bros to the south and risk their lulzy re-wipe. Should we go off the map again, it's important that we put our attention to closing off the 4th wall on the Safehaven States. This will be the direction of our efforts if Poland moves to NE the United States.
Why Wipes are More Common:
Some of us are old enough to have experienced both Canadian wipes. Two years ago, the prospect of erasing Canada was a national insult, and many were outraged that we had ever "let" such a thing occur. With so many months since that wipe, our second was received in a much different way. Today, few share the outrage of 2009. Perhaps Adasko is right to call this apathy unacceptable - there's much to be said for that. But very plainly, the world is not as it was two years ago.
North America has remained largely ignorant of the growing frequency of wipes. Most Eden & Terra states have experienced near to total erasure at some point. This is truest in Europe, where region losses come as often as the tide. Now that we are in a state of perpetual war, wipes will continue to be a reality. We have been the fortunate exception for many months, largely due to the geographic divide. More wars mean more places at war, and that erases the safety of isolation. Hence the state of Canada today.
Canada Invades Euro---Not:
Last night, an article was released in the media detailing a "top secret" conversation between a number of prominent players, including myself. The author suggests a number of things - most of them lulz. Reading the article will tell you that Canada has made a pact with the United Kingdom to invade Spain, two small states at war with each other, invading a third that neither of them border. All as a follow-up to the "Polish-American Alliance."
Jamesw (UK CP) and myself assure you, this is a load of lulzy hogwash. There is no such plan, nor was it ever agreed to by anyone. The quoted conversation, while including a number of "true" quotes, has been heavily edited. The latter half, particularly, has removed comments mid-sentence with little discretion. Trolling can be amusing, that's for sure, but I would expect someone who went to the effort of pretending to represent Britain for so long would do a better job at it, and at least present the lulz in a more appealing fashion. But alas, you can't have everything you wish for.
Within the first 2 minutes of the "top secret" conversation, we (Fox, Michael, Wally, Ethel, and myself) were ruling out that whoever this lulzer was did not have any ties to Britain. I've said it before that information is valuable - certainly we wouldn't turn away a legitimate representative if there was a chance to turn the situation to our advantage. Carpe diem, as it were.
Our background vetting, which included direct confirmations from Presidents Blank Keating and Jamesw, showed this cute fellow for the farce he was. It's a pity that part was edited out. Fox is French and has some pretty weird ways of saying 'bite me'. Not all of them left the cutting room floor.
More now than ever, we need the support of our citizens. We need active and engaged players, joining military units to pack a stronger punch every single day. Sign up for one today, and make a real difference!

Nicely done, Sperry!

A very thorough explanation of current events. You make as good a journalist as you do CP'n Sperry.
Is it apathy about our wipe or an acceptance that invasion is not the taboo we used to think it was. I remember that before the major events in the summer of '09, eCanada had no battles affecting its borders. Sometimes we had no battles, period. This was a time when being in the CAF did separate one from the average citizenry because it was more necessary to deploy to different fronts (greatly affecting jobs, political positions).
Now homefront battles are commonplace, invasion is a somewhat frequent threat, and we're all soldiers more or less. eCanada has matured to a more battle-hardened group of players than we had 2 years ago ~ and we've been through a lot of other junk, too, which we survived.
"Within the first 2 minutes of the "top secret" conversation, we (Fox, Michael, Wally, Ethel, and myself) were ruling out that whoever this lulzer was did not have any ties to Britain"
You guys are such n00bs, if for nothing else, then for trying to "explain" a classic case of trolling.
I had nothing better to do, so I joined in your channel, and asked myself what it is that I could say that would catch these guys' attention. So I sai😛 "Hi, I am british vMOFA". 30 seconds later, I was talking to the whole eCanadian Gov. Cabinet, and getting inside information without being asked, for over 45 minutes, to present my credentials. Please note that I have been absent from active gameplay for the last 6 monhts, which makes things even more funny, as I was making-up stuff during the conversation, and you guys kept on feeding me with info 🙂. It was so hilarious, that I decided to copy past parts of the convo with other people, and some asked me to paste them the whole of the log afterwards, which I did.
This is the result of that: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/canada-invades-europe--1817317/1/20 , not my writing, not my editing, but a fact remains that you guys need to talk to guys like Rod Damon, in order to understand how negotiations are conducted, and how sensitive information is protected.
Feel lucky that no sensitive information has been displayed in this "joke-article" (obvious to anyone apart you, it seems), for you would then be ridiculed in eCanadian public to the point where you would have no alternative to complete withdrawl from ePolitical life.
Such n00bs... I hadn't had so much fun since I defended eThailand from eIndonesia, in a huge 24 hours fight (v2 module), involving over 20 nationalities and 24 hour-action, literally thousands of gold spend... for no strategic reason what-so-ever. That was fun 😃
This was ... now when I look at you ... sad really?
@Jfstpierre, please take command, these guys are a joke 😃
*waddles around waving arms* your all noobs, your all noobs cause I say so!
haha, cause that makes it true. morontroll is still morontroll.
Keep up the good work Sperry your doing a damn good job so far.
Interesting read. Thanks for all those communications about the war, Sperry.

I think its acceptable becuase people care less, which is a direct reflection on the state of the game, the admins need to find a happy medium between running it as a business and keeping it fun, as it stands it seems everything is directed at people buying gold.
crisfire, my thought exactly.
remember when we said that we wanted a war?
