[CP] Preparation and Opportunity

Here are the two issues to be touched on in this article:
1) Polish War and Likely Wipe
2) CanIre



As you may have very well noticed, even though there is a chance we can prevent it, Canada will likely be wiped by Poland in the coming days. I have done all I could with the Polish Administration to ward off a wipe. The Polish MoFA was very helpful and instrumental in getting this to progress in terms of negotiations. However, efforts have stalled as it seems that their congress has every intention to deny us a congress.

I know that some of you have probably just had a slight heart attack. “NO CONGRESS?! What’re we going to do?!”

Well, here’s what happens in the event of no congress:
-We are unable to donate to the MoF
-We cannot accept citizenship requests
-We cannot change taxes
-Megalomaniacs will be enraged that they do not get a seat in Congress and 5 gold.

Now, none of this is a severe national tragedy. People often play up having no congress as being the worst event in the world. This is not true. All of this can be overcome.

First off, I would like to say that, even though there is no Congress, I will not be running a dictatorship. I will propose that we use all of the current congressmen as congress for next month. Votes would be conducted on the forums or via PM before being proposed in-game.

To counteract the downsides of not having a Congress, here’s what will happen:
-On the 24th, and possibly before, we will be donating most of our available funds to the MoF to continue MU funding.
-We will likely discuss if any tax changes need to be proposed and enacted before the next month. Possibly, it could be changed to 10%-12% based on the findings in Addy’s article. I might think about supporting this only because the gov’t will only need money for MPPs.
-Megalomaniacs and those who are power hungry will cry their eyes out because they don’t get to push buttons or get 5 gold. (I’m sorry if I’ve hurt your ego)

So as you can see, the situation is under control and should be a complete non-issue.



My administration, under the guidance of MoFA Jacobi, has been and is currently in talks with one of our great allies, Ireland. They have been talking about the possibility of the merger of our two nations into a larger and more powerful nation. This possibility is the CanIre Confederacy.

This is not something completely new. Germany and Denmark have been doing this on a smaller scale for some time now as the combined nation of Germark. We would be doing the same thing. It would increase our military power, regional power and our bonuses. Here’s how such a merger would occur. Canada, being the larger of the two nations, would essentially absorb Ireland into its territorial reach. This would be done by Ireland NE’ing Canada and purposely losing several battles. We would leave Ireland with two regions. One borders the USA and the other borders the UK. These regions would help the US in case of invasion, and they would help repel an invasion from the UK.

Our political systems would possibly begin to merge as well. Although Ireland would still have a Congress, power would likely be centralized in the Canadian Congress and political system. Irish people who get Canadian citizenship would establish Irish parties for representation in our Congress, or we could give Ireland a set number of representatives either proportional to population or by some other means. Together, we would work to pass legislation that affects both nations so that we work simultaneously as one nation. This part of the merger is what might require the most work.

In terms of regions and bonuses, this would help out both nations. Irish citizens who switch citizenship would have access to the combined resources of CanIre. Negotiations have even started with the UK to rent Scotland. This gives CanIre an access point to the rest of the continent and the Asgard region. This allows us to support our allies in Russia and Asgard, especially against the Polish supported ABC alliance of the Baltics. There is also the potential for more regions and bonuses by means of land rentals.

However, the biggest boost it gives, is on the battlefield.

Canada and Ireland have worked together with great success in the past. Canada averages in the mid 20’s when it comes to battle influence. Per month, we put out over 12 Billion in influence. Canada is able to hit harder than nations with a greater population. Ireland puts out around 6 Billion a month. When you put these nations together, we average inside of the Top 20. This makes CanIre much more of a force to be reckoned with on the international stage than if we were separated. We would put out the same amount of influence as nations like France, Chile, Taiwan, and Ukraine. Canada and Ireland are much stronger together than by themselves. CanIre’s military strength would not go unnoticed in the region. If we could get Scotland, and possibly other Scandinavian regions, then we could expand our newfound influence. We would surpass either of the Asgard powers, Sweden and Finland, and we could go toe-to-toe with the ABC nations of Lithuania, Lativa, and Estonia.

As Canada seeks to engage in better relations with its allies and grow stronger, this is one of the possible options. We would be solidifying our friendship with a long-time ally. At the same time, we’d greatly expand our military and regional influence. We could gain bonuses. We can gain strength. We can gain more respect. We can gain stronger friendships.

Are there problems and issues that would need to be worked out? Of course. However, this could truly be an exciting opportunity for both Canada and Ireland that has the chance to benefit us all.
