[CP] Midterm Report

Day 2,068, 14:55 Published in Ireland Ireland by Sweet Drinker

This term has been deceptively quiet:
Incredible weather in the RL republic has continued to keep players pretty distracted from the game.
Our NAP with UK has been maintained with little incident, we've had no homeland battles.
It's made for a quiet term, this is the first update article I've written, and it's nearly half way through.

Behind this radio silence:
Congress has been pretty active, and I'm happy to report, not entirely with talking about Conway!
All these civil and intelligent talks about allies, MPPs, CS applications, battle priorities, and ofc alliances are threatening to restore my faith in democracy!

The MoF is quietly accumulating our treasury, which is ofc now at a new high since the 'great heist era'.

The MoD is quietly running it's operations, improving it's logistical responsiveness, and ofc supporting our friends abroad.

The MoFA is quietly keeping us tapped into international affairs, forging new friendships, and ofc maintaining old ones.

And I've been quietly building us what I hope is a better future.

When an engine is running well it doesn't make a lot of noise, and that's how I like to look at the 1st half of this term 🙂

Things you may find of interest:

It's often been difficult to set DO's, due to our allies being wiped. We've been working on developing some new MPP's and ofc, trying to help our friends get lesswiped.
I think it's important to realise how fortunate a nonTWO nation (especially one our size) is to sit comfortably on the map, considering how difficult that has been for our friends to even hold a single region.

Portugal MPP's Serbia Portugal is a longtime friend of ours, and while the Serbian MPP is really a case of 'anything to counter Spain', we are sad to see our friends moving toward the dark side 😛

Spain & TWO While Spain's relationship with TWO has been in the news a lot recently, they've been renewing TWO MPPs strongly. However it does seem like some love has been lost, many TWO citizens seem to be deliberately antagonising Spain in an attempt to drive them from the alliance.

Whispers of a new alliance There has been talk of a strong new alliance emerging. If you're an internationally minded player you can't help but think anything that may shift the unbalance of power would be a good thing.

IRE~UK NAP The proposal to extend our NAP agreement with Britain has unofficially been ratified (the proposal is technically still at the voting stage but it has already reached an overwhelming majority).
I understand that many ppl are unhappy with UK holding some of our regions. However we're not capable of maintaining a protracted war against the UK, and I wouldn't be admitting that if Britain wasn't aware of it!
While I'm not fond of giving up regions for nothing in return, our time/energy has much better uses abroad, and any ally (or potential ally) would view us as incompetent morons if we didn't agree to it in the current geopolitical environment where just about all of our friends are in wipe situations.

Cork The bizarre region we technically are supposed to have, yet refuse to reacquire from the willing UK.
We've been avoiding the acquisition of Cork due to it being a bridge for TWOish Spain to invade us through.
While some would argue that if Spain wished to invade us our enemies would simply RW the region back to us, heavily mobilised RW's are my military specialty (the reason UK agreed to a peace agreement in the first place). And even if the region were RW'd against our wishes as a precursor to invasion, it would provide us a large window to prepare.
Spain is a bit of an enigma as nations go. Even their alliance has trouble knowing exactly where they stand!
Until we've some idea what Spain are up to longterm, I've no intention to risk our Dail/nation for a single fkn food bonus!

That's it for now. If anything newsworthy pops up I'll roll out an article asap. but hopefully we have an equally quiet second half.
Help our allies. Make some friends. Enjoy some sunshine, it's meant to stay nice for awhile yet, and most of us could use some Vitamin D.

Remember your sunscreen!
