[CP] I Won't Let You Down

Day 2,908, 14:10 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by 10 Downing Street

First of all, I’d like to start this term by thanking everyone who turned out to vote for me yesterday. It means a lot to know that so many were willing to support me- I won’t let you down. I know that for a lot of people there are issues with trust with me, and I totally understand that and it’s okay in my book if you couldn't support me because of it. I just hope that by the end of this month you’ll be won round 🙂

Now, down to business. I shan’t bore you with nitty gritty updates to all the ministries less than 12 hours in, only to say that all the opening day tasks (opening PMs and the like) have been done. I can shed a bit of light on a key policy however; the contentious issue of tax.

The eUK has been very lucky this week to have some private citizens spending a lot of CO money on our battles after the government's modest pot of cash ran out. Even our increased rate of tax leaves us short where it counts and leaves us vulnerable. So, my intention is to propose a comprehensive solution:

An increase in the rate of Work Tax to 6%
50% of the WT paid by MU Suppliers will be rebated to them, so that they pay an effective rate of 3%
32% of the WT paid by Foreign MU Suppliers from Allied nations will be rebated to them, so that they pay an effective rate of 4%

The last point is part of a strategy to entice MU suppliers into the eUK to make use of our full weapon bonuses. This will in turn boost our tax revenues, money which we can use to increase our defence and the stability of our bonuses. It’s a positive cycle, and a good way to increase our tax revenue without having to levy ever increasing amounts of Work Tax. 6% is as high as I think it’s reasonable to go, and I won’t be pushing for it to go any higher.

The full details of this plan will be spelt out in a bill that will be brought before congress in the next day or so, but that’s the broad plan.

Thats all for today, thanks for reading o7
